  2. Hello, I recently bought the FBV Express MKII to controll my POD XT (bean) unit. The problem is, that the board doesn't switch any patches at all. Example: If I select different patches on my pod, the respective led on the fbv does light up. Let's say I have 28A selected on my pod. The FBV then lights up on A. I switch on my pod to 28B -> FBV B lights up. Obviously, the FBV should controll my POD, not the other way around ;) If I use the ABCD switches on the FBV, nothing happens on the POD. How is this possible? The manual says, both units are compatible and they should work "plug & play". What I already tried to do: I updated anything via line6monkey. I connected the FBV to usb only to test in Gearbox -> same as it is with the pod. I switch something in gear box and the leds on the FBV change, but not the other way around I connected the FBV to the POD with the original cable, having the POD conected to my PC via USB and without havong it connected to my PC. -> No difference! I calibrated the FBV multiple times. I just noted, that the red led on the FBV (let's say B) is flickering in an interval of ~2-3 seconds when I put it on. (This is not for TAP, as I choose a sound without any TAP tempo stuff). The display shows nothing, until I change the sound on the pod. It then shows ABC or D and the LED stops flickering - > still no function on the FBV-buttons Did anyone experience this kind of problem? Or is there maybe a simple solution I just didn't think of? I'm looking forward to your suggestions :) David
  3. Q: Can I connect my POD/2.0/XT/X3/Live to the front (instrument input) of my amplifier? A: Yes.You will want to create as clean a sound as possible on your amplifier. You will want to make the combo amplifier's EQ as "flat" as possible by turning the treble and bass controls to zero and maxing out the mid control. You should also set POD's output to 9 or 10 o'clock to avoid overdriving the instrument input of the amplifier and have no effects active. You will want to experiment with the output level on the POD to create a sound that works for your situation. Below is the routing for this set up: Guitar > POD unit > Amplifier instrument input. This works but you will be stacking two preamps in series (the POD unit acts as a preamp). Make sure you also adjust the OUTPUT Mode on the POD unit for optimal tone, many end users prefer "Combo/Stack FRONT" Q: Can I bypass the preamp section of my amp to avoid stacking two preamps? A: Yes, There are two ways this can be accomplished. 1) If your amplifier has a CD/MP3 input you can go directly in the this jack from the POD output (This is a common method with the Line 6 Spider Series amplifiers). Be aware you may need to "trick" your amplifier input by using a 1/4" "dummy" plug in the instrument input to allow signal to pass to the speaker (headphone adaptors often work well for this purpose). Guitar > POD unit > Amplifier CD/MP3 input with 1/4" "dummy" plug in the instrument input 2) If your amplifier has an effects loop (i.e. the Line 6 Spider Valve or Flextone) you can use your POD unit as the main Pre amp and distortion generator, using only the power amp section of your amplifier by plugging into the "effects return" or "power amp input". If the amplifier has a "power amp in", the POD output will most likely control the output volume. If the amplifier has "effect loop return" the amplifier master volume will most likely control the output volume. Below is the routing for this: Guitar-> POD In - POD Out -> Amp FX Return. Make sure you also adjust the OUTPUT Mode on the POD unit for optimal tone Combo or Stack PWRAMP when applicable. Q: Can I run my POD/X3/xt/Pro/Live/Floor in an effect loop of an amplifier to use just the effects rather than the amp modeling? A: Yes, it is possible to to run a POD as an effect unit in the effect loop of an amplifier. You may want to turn off the amp modeling or use as clean a sound as possible to avoid stacking preamps. You may also need to lower the "line level" signal of the amplifier's effect send output to "instrument level" to avoid potential damage to the input of your POD. Some POD units will have a pad switch that will accomplish this function. If your POD unit does not have an input pad switch, a device such as the Ebtech Line Level Shifter can be used to lower the line level if necessary. Below is the routing for this: Guitar > Amp In / Amp FX Send> POD IN - POD Out > Amp FX Return. With this routing, you would have to bypass the amp modeling on the POD unit and use it for FX only, using your amp's own preamp section. Q: Can I connect my POD to two amps for a stereo configuration? A: Yes. Connect the left output of the Pod to the input of one amp and the right output of the Pod to another amp. It would be best if you could connect your Pod to the amps using the effects loop of the amp if you have one since it will bypass the preamp of your amplifier. Q: What is the Four cable method? (POD X3 Live and Pro Only) A: The "Four Cable" method (4CM) can be used for any effect unit that has an effects loop when connecting to an amplifier that has an effects loop (i.e. the POD X3 Live). This cabling method allows the end-user to place filters and overdrive units before the preamp section of the amplifier, and modulation and delay effects after the effect loop in the effect unit. This way the amplifier will provide the tones and the Line 6 device will provide the effects (pre and post). Be sure to enable the effects loop, and experiment with Pre-post effect to decide which method works best for you. Instrument > X3Live guitar in X3Live effect loop send > instrument input of amplifier Amplifier effect loop send > X3Live effect loop return X3 line output > Amplifier effect loop return. Q: Can I run the two tones separately, such as one tone for "pre" amp sounds and the other for "post" (i.e. effect loop) sounds? A: An "alternate" method of the Four Cable method is to completely separate the front of the amp effects (i.e. filters and overdrives) into Tone 1, and the time based effects (chorus, delay, reverb) in Tone 2. The tones will need to be panned hard left (1) and hard right (2) in the outputs section (any blending of the tones may result in feedback). Be aware that you will need to have both tones active to get sound, and you need to set up the inputs as follows: Tone 1: Guitar, Tone 2: Aux. Feel free to experiment with the "amp settings" to determine which setting works best for your setup. The connection wiring is: Instrument > X3Live guitar in X3Live Live (left) output > amplifier input Amplifier FX loop send > X3Live Aux input X3Live (right) output > Amplifier FX loop return Video is listed alphabetically under "Multi-Effects".
  4. Good afternoon, I'm a proud owner of a PODxt Live for many years; It worked like a charm until a few weeks ago. Starting from the beginning, a year ago I broke the USB connector; Almost a month ago I decided to finally fix the USB port, so I changed the connector to a new one (I'm experienced with electronics), when I turned on the POD to try out the new USB connector, the POD simply wouldn't start; It flashed all the LED's and maintained them on, a brick with lights basically. The USB works just fine, I can access to the POD via PC but the Flash Memory is just not accessible; I checked every internal part on the POD, all the values are normal and nothing seems to be "broken". Is it possible that anyone can get me the Flash Memory full dump file of a PODxt Live so I can reprogram mine? Sorry for my bad English, Best Regards.
  5. It's clear that AMPLIFi is based on the old architecture from XT/X3/PodFarm. My question is, will we be able to load our custom tones built using those tools? And along with that does AMPLIFi come with all the model packs from PODFarm Platinum and support dual tone modes?
  6. Hello community! I'm kind of new here, I checked the compatibility post for pedals but I didn't get something. Can someone explain which devices are supposed to be compatible with a POD xt Live? I recently bought it used (as the best option according my wallet) and I was reading the manual to check about recording. I saw something about I could use a pedalboard as an extension and link it somehow to record what I play and play it background to jam. If this is possible, which pedalboard is the best for my multiefect? Or which is my multiefect for the compatibility list? (example: pro xt even when yours is xt live) Thanks for the help.
  7. Hi, I've got a used Pod XT Pro which is connected to to Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 (1Gen) via S/PDIF. The problem is, that I do not know/understand how to setup both devices to get the signal from POD to Scarlett. The Scarlett is configured using MixControl SampleRate 41.1kHz Sync Source S/PDIF Sync Status Locked USB Driver Connected ASIO Buffer Size 6ms The POD XT Pro is setup using I/O & Dig Select Input Guitar Format 41.1kHz 24 Bit Mode Normal Gain +0db Having plugged a guitar in I see the signal led flashing. I also get a signal on the DI Out which I also connected the interface using 1/4inch. In MixControl I can see the level meters receiving signal on the analog input, but not on the S/PDIF ones. When I change the POD to 'Match S/PDIF' in the IO Select, still no signal can be received. When I restart the POD with this setting it gives a message saying: "CANNOT LOCK TO INPUT. WAIT FOR RE-CLOCK OR PRESS ANY BUTTON TO SELECT GUITAR IN AND 44.1kHz 24 BIT OUT." Can anyone help me out here, how to setup this correctly. Many thanks Sebastian
  8. I have an POD XT which when plugged into Monkey via USB, the software stated I needed up upgrade the Flash to 3.1. I clicked to update but the process seemed to take an extrodinary long time to complete and during the process, I noted that the screen of the Pod had 'Error Code 02' dispalyed. I reset the Pod as requested but as soon as the screen turned on, I got 'ERROR CODE 02'. I tried all the buttons, tried turning dials and nothing had no effect. On research, I found that Error Code 02 relates to an issue with the Flash Memory. It seems to be a common issue that Monkey updating the Pod can corrupt the Flash, making the Pod useless. I tried putting the Pod in safe mode using the 'Save' / 'Edit' keys which did nothing. I tried safe mode using the most left black square button, again nothing. I tried the second black square button which put the Pod into another safe mode which checked the memory, this test passed. On the Monkey, the Flash was greyed out and I couldn't update it. It recognised the Pod connected via USB but couldn't establish the connection. I tried different USB cables, different USB slots, even another power supply and got nothing but the Error Code 02 on the screen. ** SOLUTION ** On a side line building up my rig, I had purchased a second hand Edirol UM-1SX which is an old fashioned Midi USB interface box, which I was going to use with my keyboard. I'd also just purchased a couple of brand new Roland Midi Cables. Once I setup the Edirol UM-1SX with my computer, the Pod XT was recognised by Monkey. I set this up by NOT using the USB cable but just connecting the Pod via the Midi Cables via the UM-1SX. Just an important point with MIDI cables, Computer Out = Pod In and Computer In = Pod Out. Now the Pod was connected to the Computer, Flash was able to update via Midi and installed to the latest Flash 3.1. Once installed and turned the Pod off and on again, I disconnected the Midi cables and connected the Pod via the USB to use Line 6 Edit. From here, no problems in editing and installing my tones. Happy days, broken Pod to working Pod. Hope this helps.
  9. good evening. does anybody know if a chart with all the default settings (effects & co.) exist for POD XTs? something like below: preset comp (gate) stomp mod delay cab/ a.i.r. 2A off off off off on 2B on on on off on 2C on off off off off 2D off off off off on i'd need that to program better a Behringer FCB1010 UnO and, due to midi messages exchange, i need to know which ones are active in each preset, to avoid sending every midi message at changing bank/preset.
  10. So... I'm a little new to this equipment:) I currently have a Line 6 half stack (Spider 2 150w) and a Marshall MG half stack. If I purchase one of the Line 6 Pods (looking at XT Pro).....am I able to output to both of the amps simultaneously.....or can I only output to one amp. Sorry if the answer is obvious.....I've looked through the online manual....but the answer wasn't jumping out at me:) Thanks!! Jamie
  11. Hi all! I am a proud owner of a PodXTLive and I'm really happy with it! I'm also a developer and my project is to create a VST Host under Raspberry Pi2.. all is going well, but (as far as I know) there aren't Line6 drivers for Linux based on ARM architecture.. There is someone that can help me with the project or that can give me some hint or ideas to make it work? Raspberry Pi2 would be perfect for a vst host and It would be nice to make my PodXTLive do the sound processing like I do (for example) on windows! Thank you all and I hope to get a clear answer just to understand if I have to give up and try with some other solution. Luca
  12. i am trying to get Line 6 Edit to work with my Pod XT. So far i have: - installed and run Monkey - used Monkey to successfully update the drivers and firmware on my XT - installed and run Line 6 Edit with my XT connected by USB. Problem: When i run Line 6 Edit, it reaches the point where it shows my XT at the stage where you "Select a Line 6 device..." but no matter how many times i click OK, it does not move onto the next stage (see screenshot). i thought it might be because Monkey shows a question mark for the flash memory (see other screenshot) so i reinstalled the firmware but the problem remains. I have also tried using a different USB port but it made no difference. thanks for any help! Running Windows 7
  13. Hey Guys First my gear : Line6 POD xt Pro, Laney Ironheart Irt 60 I want to connect my Podxt with my Amp. So how do i do that ? The POD should be used as a effect processor in Distortion Channel of the Amp But as a clean sound i want to use my POD settings and only use the amp as an poweramp for the xt. So anyone out there who knows what i have to do ?
  14. Hey, So bought a new Line 6 Variax 700. Love the tones. But when i connected it to my workbench i've had a strange problem. First let me explain how i connected it. Variax 700 electric to my pod xt live using a rj45 cable. Then, via usb to the computer. I have updated all my firmwares and software. Now, heres the strange thing. My guitar is detected via the pod xt live perfectly, but when i try to change a tuning the fret board works upside down. Eg. When i drop my lowest (6th string) To a D in order to make it a drop D tuning, it changes my highest string (The high E or 1st string) to a D. While the easy and obviously way to get over this is just find out how many frets to drop each string by. There is another issue. When i drop my highest string in the software (which is my lowest string in real life) The note doesnt transpose properly. I.e. it misses the note and buzzes and stuff like that. What is the problem. I'm pretty sure that if i fix my fretboard being upside down in the software, it'll fix the problem. P.S. I've reinstalled the firmwares and drives and tried the same thing on my laptop as well as desktop. PLEASE HELP! :( :( Thanks in advance.
  15. So for those who have used gearbox and pod XT or X3 in the past ,here are some tips to making the transition of your tones to podfarm or using podfarm. this will also include using farm to enhance your tones and moving them back to your Pod XT/X3 hardware for standalone.playback. First, let address the volume difference using pod XT as an example: XT is a standalone unit obviously that runs on 9V DC and 2 amps, POD farm using GX for example is 5V DC and USB interface, which is .5 amp...quite a bit of difference. As such, what you might notice is that sounds in gearbox moved to farm are about 2/3 lower in volume. Yes you can move the volume up to 10 if your tone was 3.3 but who has there dialed in tone at that :)...it's just not a good formula. Next is to see what farm can do on its own to raise that level without too much coloration. the first thing to do is EQ and when that is not enough, the cleanest pre-amp can be added, which I found to be the coucel. I played with this testing over a weekend for hours and hours and will share what I found to be the best setup for trying to match output as it was in gearbox XT but without adjust volume as much as possible What I will show is how to start from a baseline and make volume changes only after you have exhausted all other options. If you find these settings add some small coloration then drop the settings equalty across all EQ bands and instead go after the master volume. You can also increase volume on your amp, but this is to get the tone the same through headphones so its as true to start as possible. Here are the tips: If your old XT/gearbox tone is a single path (which it should be, you can open that in farm and duplicate the track (doubles the volume 100%) this should get you really close. I feel that to absolutely match, you need to have 1 path get an EQ adjustment at the end and a preamp after the amp in the chain. see below screen shot for how this looks for your newly added preamp and EQ added to 1 path for additional boost. Circled in yellow is the additons that pod requires to help boost where the old tone was. Settings for preamp and EQ are as follows: -------------------------------- The next scenario I will describe: When you have two tones you really like and you want both in pod farm so you can merge them and mix each for best of each. In the case below I enhanced my "A" path tone which was darn near perfect but lacked what the tone in path "B" had. They are merged by letting Path "B" run through 10% and then 90% tone "A". Here you need to have a different setting for the pre-amp because each path is different and not a copy of the other. --------------------------------- Next is a tip for those that want to: Bring a setting into farm and want it back out for XT. Well remember that XT can not handle multi effects of the same type nor duel paths so you have to merge the two if that is the case. This may not end well, you need to choose the settings that represent the best of your new pod effect in 1 path and no dulicate pedals. You can only have 1 amp too...so the challenge is to toggle back and forth and see if you can represent in a single path of what two paths were giving. note: the different settings on the sine chorus Now the track down to 1 with sign chorus settings that represent all 3 as you can only have 1 in gearbox. Here I am merging former track "B" and finally the settings on the sine chorus as best representation of having 3 Maybe line6 will make a pod that can support the duel path of effect but until then you are going to have to do this or find a way to run from a tablet or something so pod is what you use live or you just live with a good enough scenario ---------------------------------------------------- The last thing I wanted to mention was the option to use a hardware boost to simulate the tone of XT. I have not purchased yet as it will add a clean boost up to 18DB for some but will run about ~$120.then, you don't have to fake it with an EQ or preamp in POD. This would be the cleanest purest way to boost but again will require a purchase. For the purpose of this post i am showing how to do it with the tools you already have. Note for some FX you may want to make sure POD sees all your model packs or can read the FX others have made with those model packs For that those that have wondered about running through the XT with the effects bypassed, the fact is you will get some static and it will add something to the tone. You are basically reprocessing it and pod is not clean when using this was through farm via ASIO (and with input as "Send Clean guitar". It's not horrible, but expect some static and less bass or warmth IMO.Your best bet is to use GX or UX-1 and amp your tone with effects in farm. I had to do a lot of back and forth comparison, and I will not claim this is perfect but is as close as my ears could detect without having to purchase additional boosting hardware. Even if you decide to boost buy buying some hardware, it's good to know to do it in software if you need it. Hopefully this gives others some incite to tone building and porting from favorite gearbox tweaked tones you may have had. I am still playing around with PODfarm and no doubt I will discover even more, but so far are impressed with the extra options I am getting. Be nice to have it really working with XT full to make adjustments with real knobs as opposed to a mouse and arrow keys, but oh well.....like I said maybe line6 will do something in the future with a next generation POD that really works close with farm as an interface and a tone transfer for standalone.
  16. Hi all, Not sure if this is the right place to put this topic, however am going to try and do it anyway. I have a question and a request. I will start with my Question... I have the Standard version of POD Farm 2.5, was contemplating upgrading to Platinum but for $199.00 all I seem to really be getting is the two model packs I am missing. Am I missing something here? Now for my request, I am really only looking for the following two model packs; Classics and Metal Shop and was wondering if there were some Line 6 users out there who were willing to sell/transfer their license to me at a reduced cost? I am currently looking at the two power pack and both would currently run me $100. Anyone??? Thanks in advance... Mike
  17. In the morning i just turned on the POD to play with my guitar for a bit and there was no heavy sound.I usually use my own and saved presets and it wasnt distorted.Sounded more like low volume overdrive.Really lollipopy sound.First i thought i was my guitar's active pickup battery. It wasnt.I changed cables i flashed the pod's memory and put it back on and nothing happend. Is there any explanation about what happened with it or what might cause the problem? Thank you in advance!
  18. good evening. as in object: could somebody tell surely what's the impedance at POD XT headphones plug? i have a 32 Ohms set and the sound quality is horrible, so I'd need to build an impedance corrector cable and to know precise values to do that. thanx, bye
  19. I use my Bass Pod XT live as a guitar preamp by the DI output for my EMU 1212m, it works just fine. But I also want to use the same Bass POD XT as a MIDI controller. But as soon as I plug in the USB into the Bass POD XT, the DI output turns into model output. I know it works like that with the headphone but hre there's just no way there's a common wiring between the USB and the DI output. Any way I set the thing within the control panel, it only affects the sound for (and of) the computer, not the outputs. a.) is this normal? b.) If so, why? There's no reason why USB should affect the outputs. It doesn't turn the bass pod xt into a stereo soundcard or anything. c.) Is there any way I can get the unprocessed sound through the DI output while using the pod as a MIDI controller without unplugging the POD from the USB (so neither Bypass nor a 5-pole MIDI cable is a solution)? Thanks in advance.
  20. Heya you all! I would like to know if it is possible to control my Flextone II's channels (or presets?) via my Pod XT live -pedal using MIDI? If this is possible, how easy it is to set up? One more question; if I can get the POD xt live to control Flextone presets/sounds, can I still put it in effets loop and use some effects from pod? Thank you for your asnwers! :)
  21. Hey everyone, Im trying to use my old Pod xt live as an audio interface to record on Ableton Live 8. Ive got everything set up to where I get a signal on Ableton, but Im getting two output signals from my Pod to my monitors. One signal goes from the pod output straight to the monitors and the other one goes to Ableton through the usb cable and then back through the pod to the monitors. (So that if my Pod tone is clean and I have a distortion effect enabled on Ableton I hear both the clean and distorted tones at the same time) The only output cable I have is a 1/4" from the l/mono output on the pod to the monitors inputs and my Pod is connected to my pc via the usb cable. Is there any way to have only the signal from Ableton play through the monitors? I want to use effects from the pod as well as effects on ableton.
  22. Is anyone else having trouble with using the Pod XT Live with the new Variax HD update? I just updated, sounds great, directly to amp, however when I run through my XT, the variax setting does not seem to work. Anyone? Such could use some help.
  23. Q: Will PODxt or X3 tones work with the POD HD series? A: No. The POD HD tone architecture was built from the ground up and is different then our XT ands X3 series of PODs. Q: Will POD HD500X/500 tones work with the smaller 300 and 400 HD PODs? A: No. The POD HD500 routing capabilities make it far more flexible than the HD300 and HD400. Because of this, tones created in the HD500 will not translate over to the HD300 and HD400.
  24. Q: How to resolve a blank screen on a PODxt LIVE A: If you are getting a blank screen on your PODxt LIVE please try the Edit Buffer Initialization with the following steps: 1.
