When I use the amp (dt25) with direct guitar input (no POD) and switch the amp models manually between I II III IV I get significant volume variation. II and IV are loud. I and III are very quiet. Is this normal behavior or is there something I can do to even out the variations?

Just curious what styles of music you guys play, and which amp models you're diggin' in the Helix. Should be getting mine after the 12/18 ship date I was told... but not too confident that's when it'll be. And of course I love to hear what others are sayin' about this thing. Hit me!

As the title says, when I select an amp model and then begin to either change the drive or bass settings, the setting I put seems to be affecting the amp model selector - ie if I choose the 'metal' channel and start turning the gain to 9 o clock, 'Class A' is being selected on the amp models. This hasn't happened before, and it's incredibly annoying. Is there a way for this to be fixed?

I'm very happy with the way the HD 5150 amp has turned out. It's my favorite amp model on my Peavey Vypyr II amp, and it's now probably going to be my favorite on my HD500X. Having said that, it definitely needs some tweaks and adjustments to get a usable sound. To my ears, the default settings have way too much mosquito buzz and a little too much low end, but to be honest, the exact same is true with the 5150 model on my Vypyr amp, so I believe that those are just characteristics of the actual amp (but I've not played on a real 5150, so my experience is limited to modelers). I purposely recorded this clip with the default settings of the amp model to give an idea of the sound without any adjustments. The only exceptions are that I increased the mids about 12%, I added plate reverb and I added tape echo. Also, I did not add drums or bass when recording to let the guitar be fully heard. So, all of the items that to me need tweaked are still present in this clip, so you'll hear too much buzzyness. But again, this is purposely to give a demo of the raw sound of the amp without much tweaking. I plan on doing an A/B comparison with my Vypyr 5150 settings, which I have set the way I like, to get this more in line with that. I'm new to the HD500x and initially I wanted to use this so that I didn't have to bring an amp to gigs. I tried playing through my Bose L1 and while I can pull it off at restaraunt gigs, I've decided I just can't match the tone and presence of a real tube amp for my bar gigs. So...I'm happy with using it with my Fender Hod Rod Deluxe, but have discovered that I like it better without using the amp modeling, just using effects like reverb, distortion, etc... I love my stage sound now, the problem lies with the PA/recording. I'd like to go from the HD500x straight to the mixer. The sound though, through the PA isn't very good. Is there a way to get amp tone through the PA (XLR) but not through my guitar amp? We record with the mixer as well. I could mike the amp, but that is obviously not my preferred solution.

Hi there ! I am still getting used to playing with this unit and I have encountered several problems, but nothing that couldn't be solved. This time I find myself in a bit of a loss....because in the HD 500 edit there is an amp model that when I choose, if I watch the pedal's led in the place where usually appears the amp's name, there's an X and I figured out that's because it doesn't recognize it. To be more specific, I am talking about the Plexi Lead 100 Brt. I have updated the unit and the issue still exists .... any ideas ? Thank you, Paul !

The JM4 DESPERATELY needs an amp model for acoustic guitars. None currently give you true acoustic guitar sound like AUX does, but AUX can't be looped separately from the vocal. Turning off the amp model doesn't work either, because the acoustic still doesn't sound right in this input. Because of this, I can't even use my mic with it, which breaks my heart because the MIC features are AWESOME. This one change would make the JM4 the perfect tool for the 1-man band, which should be the target customer. We could even eliminate our mixers. How awesome would that be? One perfect little box for EVERYTHING! All we'd need is an inexpensive A/B switch between acoustic & electric guitars.
