This is probably a dumb question, but I came from the era when you just put your guitar in front if your (tube) amp to get feedback. With my Les Paul & Helix Floor how is it done. I really want a "Feedback" switch. Thanks all

I know that is not what it was initially designed for but… With the HX stomp getting command center and 8 blocks in the most recent updates Is there any reason why the HX FX couldn’t get the amp models?

Hi all, I've problems getting the AMP/PREAMP and CABs to work nicely with physical amps when I play somewhere. The sounds just doesn't sound right and I'm not sure if the 4 cable method is doing a much better job. Also I find it too cumbersome to setup; I want to plug my Pod Go in an amp and be done with it. So I'm basically only using the effects. However for some reason the CAB/AMP always need to be in the signal chain, even when I switch them off. Would it be possible to remove them so the freed up CPU cycles could be used for an extra effect?

The "Effect" option and the entire LFS2 footswitch is a latching footswitch with LED lights. This allows you to turn on the effects and make channels changes. The LED will correspond with the effect being on or off. If you're switching channels, this overrides the effect option in the saved preset. Even though the saved preset might have the effect turned to the "OFF" position, this will still appear as ON with the footswitch. This is why you may not getting certain settings as "Saved" when you have the LFS2 pedal connected. Since the pedal is overriding the saved preset default settings. This is normal behavior for the LFS2 latching footswitch. The footswitch options correspond with the LED lights. You can save it correctly with the LFS2 disconnected, or with the Catalyst Edit software. If you see the lettering at the top of Catalyst edit as RED, this means the preset is changed. TAN lettering would mean its saved and hasn't been changed.

I have an problem. I played for years with hx stomp live, connecting it with a poweramp, and running it through a cab. Had no problems. But now i bought a Marshall JVM410h and wanted to connect it with hx stomp with 4cbl method. And i get a exesive hiss. Even when i connect it just in front of the amp. But when i put it in analog bypass the hissing stops. How to solve this. Heres a video i recorded.

If you are having trouble with your DL-4 MkII stompbox modeler, please try the following: - Use a different guitar, cables, and amp to make sure they are individually working correctly. - Remove all other pedals between your instrument and the amplifier. Ensure that: - The cables you are using to test work correctly by plugging directly from the instrument into the amplifier. - All jacks and nuts on the pedal are tight. - The unit is receiving sufficient power from the correct power supply (fresh batteries or a Line 6 DC-3g, DC-3h or DC-1g). Do not use old batteries to test pedals. - Reset the pedal by pressing the A and 'Tap' footswitches while inserting the power connector and powering on. Continue to hold the switches for approximately 8 seconds, until you see the green LEDs light up. - The last thing to try is to reinstall the firmware. Go to https://line6.com/software/index.html, choose "DL4 MkII" and "Firmware" from the menus, then follow the directions listed with the latest firmware entry. If you are still having difficulty you will need to have the unit repaired at an Authorized Service Center. All Line 6 Pedals carry a 12 month parts and labor warranty from the date of purchase from an Authorized Retailer. Please take a copy of the dated proof of purchase to ensure the warranty is covered. What is the Metallurgy Collection? The MetallurgyTM Collection of amplifier and effects plugins was created specifically for guitarists who wish to quickly and easily access contemporary versions of classic and modern metal tones—as well as craft original tones of their own. The Collection bundles the Modern, Thrash, and Doom plugins, which are also available individually. The Metallurgy Collection plugins feature amplifier and effects models drawn from the award-winning HX® family of products. How many amp models per plugin? Each Metallurgy plugin features four amplifier models carefully chosen to deliver a full range of genre-specific tones. What kind of effects are included? Pre-amplifier Effects Each Metallurgy plugin features 3 (or more) mono. style-specific effects, as well as a polyphonic capo, that can be used before the amp in the signal chain. Post-amplifier Effects Each Metallurgy plugin features two stereo, style-specific effects that may be used after the amp in the signal chain. What about Cabinets, Microphones, and IRs? Each Metallurgy plugin features a choice of eight speaker cabinets and eight microphones, all based on IRs. Two mics may be selected and combined with a stereo room mic array, and up to two third-party Impulse Responses (IRs) may be substituted for the factory mics. Hi All, I have a problem regarding the integration of my HX Stomp XL into the FX Loop of my ENGL Fireball: I connect using 4CM: Guitar -> Stomp Input L / MONO -> Stomp Output L / MONO -> Fireball Input (Preamp) -> Fireball FX Send -> Stomp Return L / Mono -> Stomp Send -> Fireball FX Return -> Fireball Speaker Out -> Speaker The Fireballs FX Loop Knop is turned fully to the right (100% Wet FX Loop). Noise Gate at 12 o'clock. Now any time I try out an 4CM Preset of the stomp or create my own preset including an FX Loop block I get a high pitching continuous sound from my amp / box which does not sound healthy at all. It is really squeeling and not the typical noise. Sounds much more artifical an constant. Would be very happy if you could help me with your experience as under the current described circumstances I cannot use the Stomp with the ENGL which really is a pitty. Thank you so much! Best regards, Max

Hi there, since a few months now, I'm using my HX stomp and I love it. Yet, I'm still unsure in what speaker I should plug my new baby in. I have a Spider Jam which doesn't have any FX loop so it's a no as it is hard to have a neutral sound on this. And I have my drums amp (a Roland PM-10), which is so far the amp I'm using through the line input :-) I play mostly at home, and I'd like to have the best sound of my pedal at home, and since it has built-in amp & cabinet simulations, my understanding is that the most neutral speaker ("PA" ?) should be used, rather than a fancy amp with its own personality. I don't know how neutral my PM-10 can be, and I'm not familiar with the PA thing, so can you tell me what kind of speaker can I use to have something which doesn't level down my HX stomp ? I'd like to have get a speaker at a reasonable price, and which takes a reasonable amount of space :-) Many thanks

Hi all, I'm currently trying to build a rig with both my trusty POD HD Pro X and my new EVH 5150-III. Currently I'm using the POD direct to FOH and patch changes are taken care off by Cubase through the MIDI connections. As the 50W 5150 is also MIDI compatible I figured to design a rig with the POD to FOH and the 5150 for stage sound. Now I was wondering whether it's OK or not to connect the "dry out" on the back of the POD to the regular guitar input of the 5150? I know a little bit about impedances and line volumes, but not enough to judge whether solution would damage the tube amp. Who can help me? :) Thanks in advance!

I'm having a tough time getting my TC-50 head to respond to my Helix LT for amp control via MIDI. This is my first time attempting to use MIDI. I'm connected to the amp via 4cm, with the MIDI connected from the out on the helix to the in on the amp. I'm running the helix in snapshot mode. What I'm specifically trying to achieve is channel changes on the amp, along with standard effect/parameter changes in helix. Example: Footswitch 1: CLEAN on TC-50 with Helix reverb + delay Footswitch 2: LO on TC-50 with Helix overdrive + reverb Amps midi CC numbers/values for channels: CLEAN = CC 20 w/ value 64 - 127 LO = CC 21 w/ value 64 - 127 HI = CC 22 w/ value 64 - 127 Things to note. The amp also responds to midi program changes - I've noticed that if I scroll through the presets menu that my amp changes channels with varying features coming on and off. So for some reason helix is sending program changes when loading a preset. If I could isolate that function to snapshots I would also be happy, as I could use the amp's solo/reverb/fx loop options as well instead of just singular purpose CC messages. Any help much appreciated.

Hi. I am using my HX effects unit to switch channels and FX loop on my Marshall DSL20 head. It has a TRS cable foot switch. The tip switches the channel and the ring switches the FX loop. I’ve successfully got it to do all the switching, however I’ve found the amp is expecting the reverse of the signal from the HX effects. Meaning that when the ring is NOT shorted to the sleeve, the FX loop is on, and when the tip is NOT shorted to the sleeve the ultra gain channel is on. This means the lights and logic on the HX effects are doing the reverse of what you’d expect based on the amp. Is there any way to reverse the logic of the ext amp outputs so that when I activate the switch the TRS cable is “un-shorted”, or alternatively to have an LED change colour instead of dimming when a switch is bypassed. Currently I’ve got it set up as snapshots to avoid the problem, but that’s a bit of a pain because I need 4 switches instead of 2 to cover all the combinations.

Hi everyone, here's a question that get asked probably a lot. Sorry. Basically i've been using the pod go with headphone in my bedroom for the longest time. That's all I have (I have guitars aswell eh ) I'm trying to join a band but the place where they rehearse is pretty much an empty room (I've been told there's only a mixing table) I know nothing about equipements, but I suppose a mixing table implies that there are speakers in the room with it ? Anyway I'm in desperate need to buy equipement fast to be able to play with them. I think that in the future I want to stay with the whole amp modeling technology and probably do not wish to get myself a full amp stack. So what could I buy to be able to play with a band ? I've read of FRFR speaker like the headrush, but from what I've seen it's mixed review: some people swear by it, and for some it's only good to be able to hear yourself ( like to point it towards you). I've also seen the line 6 powercab, but it's a bit expensive.. I've never done any gig, i've never done any research into amp/cab and all that part of guitar playing, as i'm in appartement. I'm very much a noob into it, but I need to buy something fast. All I know is the marshall stack I see on stage lol. Any recommendation ? a speaker that can make myself heard with a band in a room. I play with a distortion and gain, and usually metal if that helps. I'd like to go no more than 600euros ( 700 dollars) if possible. Cheers!!

Hello to all, I'm running my stomp into my SS amp's return mono ( it's a 2X12 8240 stereo Marshall). the problem is that only one speaker works. The patch is one mono amp ( no cab). so I tried to go in the FX stereo (LEFT AND RIGHT) return of the amp. still, only one speaker works. The patch I'm using is mono. ---------------------- If I go with the guitar to amp's input, both speakers work ---------------------- what am I doing wrong? Is the problem coming from the stomp or patch? or is it because of my SS amp? TNX

Hey all, So I posted a video on my Youtube Channel showcasing 5 different high amps in the HX stomp So for all the presets, I start off with either a Hedgehog 9, a Super Overdrive or an Mintour. THe hedgehog 9 does the best job in tigthening the low end. For the Cabs, I have fallen in love with using two cabs - for all the sounds and tones in this video they are pretty much Celestion V30 Orange 2x12 IR mixed with an Orange Creamback 2 x 12 or something else. at the end of my chain, I always add a legacy room reverb, for that room ambience :) Most of these amps are on stock settings :O. With the Cali Mark IV Lead, Both Gains are on 9, Bass is 0 (have a play with going up to 2 as I have it set on 2 for lead) Mid is on 5 and Treble is 7. Then its the classic V setting which I am always fiddling with depending on my mood. Some of this info isn't in the video (like the settings on the Mark IV) Anyways here's a link:

Zur deutschen Version. La version française. DT50/DT25 Terminology FAQ Headroom: how much signal “room” you have before encountering distortion, particularly saturation. If you have more headroom, the amp will feel like it responds to your playing subtleties better and you’ll have more dynamic range for expressive playing. With less headroom, you get into serious distortion without playing as hard. Topology: the layout of a “feedback topology” of the amp circuit referring to the voicing of the global negative feedback of the DT50. Changing circuits will change the voicing of the amplifier. Class A: an amp design where current is flowing through the tubes constantly. Headroom is deceased, so tone becomes distorted sooner. Class AB: an amp design where a pair of tubes work together by “trading” duties (one is conducting current while the other is in cutoff). Sometimes the term “push-pull” operation is used to describe this mode. Provides greater headroom and tone remains clearer as a result. Bias: the voltage value between the control grid (grid #1) and the cathode, which dictates the power tube’s behavior in terms of distortion cutoff/saturation. There are two types of biasing methods: fixed-bias and cathode-bias (sometimes called self-biasing or auto-biasing). The DT50 operates in fixed-bias when in Class AB. It switches to cathode-bias when in Class A. Pentode: the power output tube is a 5-electrode object (cathode, control grid, screen grid, suppressor grid and anode/plate). In the DT50, when you select “Pentode” mode, you’re operating the EL34’s as pentode tubes. Triode: a mode of operation where the power tube has 3 active elements (cathode, control grid and the anode/plate). Setting the front panel control switch of the DT50 to “Triode” alters the behavior of the EL34’s to act more like a triode, which reduces the power output and affects the high end as well. Negative Feedback Loop (NFL): a certain amount of the amplifier’s output is fed back into the amp to reduce distortion and increase headroom. A higher amount of NFL results in a tighter response overall, which some guitarists may be seeking in their tone. A lesser amount of NFL can make the amp feel more “wild” and “unruly”, which can be also desirable to many guitarists. It depends on what you’re after and the context of what you’re after, musically-speaking. Tonestack: the EQ-region inside of an amp where the Bass, Mid and Treble controls live. Sag: the response of the amp to what is being played on the electric guitar, usually heard at the beginning of playing a note or chord that follows a rest. Sag will cause the amp to get a bit quieter, while also causing more distortion. DT50/DT25 FAQ

Application Q: What are the presets on my Spider Valve Mk II amplifier? A: There are 64 presets (16 banks of 4) programmed into the amplifier at the factory, and 64 empty preset locations for an end user to program. The empty 64 preset locations have defaults (1-4) in them as a starting place. Q: I noticed that the Artist/Song Presets from the Spider IV are not present on the Spider Valve Mk II? A: Yes, as many end users had asked for more locations to store their personal presets, we have removed the artist/song presets for the Spider Valve Mk II. Q: Are the Spider Valve Mk II series amps Mono(phonic)? A: Yes, the Spider Valve Mk II series amplifiers have a monophonic output (as are most tube amplifiers). Q: How can I connect a POD unit to my Spider Valve Mk II series amplifier? POD Connections, Routing and the 4 Cable Method Q: Do the Master volume and presence control applied to the power amp section only? A: Yes, the master volume and presence control are true analog. Q: Where is the Master volume located in the chain? A: it is after the preamp, and before the power amp. Specifications Q: What are the specifications of the Spider Valve Mk II series? Spider Valve Mk II Specifications Q: What speakers are used in the Spider Valve Mk II amplifiers? Spider Valve 112: Celestion Vintage 30, 8 ohm Spider Valve 212: (2) Celestion Vintage 30s, 16 ohm Spider Valve 412 cabinet: (4) Celestion Vintage 30s, 16 ohm Q: What tubes ship in the Spider Valve Mk II amplifiers? What is the power output? Spider Valve Mk II 112 & 212: (2) Sovtek 12AX7LPS or Shuguang Electron Group 12AX7B China preamp tubes, (2) Sovtek 5881/6L6WGC WXT matched set power amp tubes. 40 watts. Spider Valve Mk II HD: (2) Sovtek 12AX7LPS or Shuguang Electron Group 12AX7B China preamp tubes, (4) Sovtek 5881/6L6WGC WXT matched set power amp tubes. 100 watts. Q: What are the function of the 12AX7 tubes? A: V1 is the booster to the output tubes, V2 is the phase inverter for the output tubes. When viewing the SV MKII HD100 upright from the back, V1 is on the right side. On the combo, V1 is on the left side. Q: Can the Spider Valve Mk II handle another 12A_7 style tube without damage to tubes or circuitry? A: Yes, the 12AX7/AT7/AU7/AY7 types, but as these tubes act as a phase inverter and a boost to the power amp (rather than traditionally "cleaning up" the preamp section), you may not get the result you are looking for. Care must be taken with this and should be done by a technician well practiced in tube technology and modifications of this type. Q: What Line 6 controllers work with the Spider Valve Mk II series amplifier? Controller compatibility chart Setup/Connection Q: Is there a bias switch to change the power tubes to EL-34s or other power tube types? A: No, the Spider Valve Mk II does not offer bias switchable options and was designed to only be used with 5881WXT type of 6L6 power amp output tubes. Q: Is there a headphone output on the Spider Valve Mk II series? A: There is no headphone output on the Spider Valve Series, but you can use the XLR output to go to a mixer, then use the headphone jack from the mixer. Q: Can I run my Spider Valve Mk II amplifier without a speaker load? A:No, you cannot run the Spider Valve Mk II series without a speaker load. Please see the following link for more information on cabinet connections: Cabinet Connection and Ohm F.A.Q. Q: Can the Spider Valve Mk II be run with a Variac? A: This is not recommended as the lower voltage can cause problems with the digital processing in the Preamp section of the Spider Valve Mk II. Q: Can I run a Palmer S.E., THD Hot Plate, Power Soak, etc. for speaker simulation or power attenuation? A: There are no known issues regarding the use of any direct recording simulators or power attenuators between the power amp output and the speaker cabinet, but if there is damage caused by improper connections or malfunctioning gear, it will not covered under the Line 6 warranty. Be aware of “red plating”, when too much current across the plate can result in damage to the tubes and nearby circuits. Q: Do the Spider Valve Mk II 112 and 212 combos support external speaker cabinets? If so, will the external cabs mute the internal speakers of the Spider Valve Mk II? A: Yes, the Spider Valve Mk II supports the use of additional cabinets. Please ensure that the ohm load is correct to avoid damaging your amplifier if you intend to use both the internal and external speakers simultaneously. Q: What is the bias voltage for the Sovtek 5881WXT matched set of tubes? A: 35 mV (+/-2mV) Q: Does the XLR output still send signal when the amplifier is on standby? A: In some cases yes, in some no. Spider Valve MkII actually has two different modes of Direct Out, which can be found in the SETUP menu in Edit Mode. They are Studio and Performance. Studio mode is a traditional, DSP POD-style output with speaker simulation and will function when the amplifier is in standby mode. In contrast, Performance mode takes a tap off the output transformer, then goes through the speaker simulation before going through the Direct Out. This allows the tubes to interact with the DSP, and because the amp has to be on to allow this to happen, there will be no signal at the XLR output in standby if Performance mode is selected. Q: Does the Spider Valve Mk II have an FX loop? A: the Spider Valve Mk II has a pre-amp out (effect send) and Power amp in (effect return) section. Q: Is the effect loop series or parallel? Is the effect loop mono or stereo? A: The effect loop is series mono. Q: Does the Spider Valve Mk II have MIDI ports? A: Yes, the Spider Valve Mk II amplifier series has both MIDI in and MIDI out ports, and the Spider Valve Mk II will accept MIDI program changes on MIDI Channel 1-16, from values 00-127. The MIDI channel assignment can be accessed by pushing the “preset” encoder and using the left/right arrow key to reach “MIDI”. This greatly increases the opportunity to integrate Spider Valve MkII’s into your existing rig, and will also allow you to update your amps firmware via MIDI. See the advanced user’s guide for the full MIDI story. Q: Can I send a MIDI output from the Spider Valve Mk II to another MIDI-capable Line 6 amplifier and control both amplifiers with one FBV controller? A: Yes, but as different Line 6 amplifiers have different MIDI implementation you will want to go through each control on the FBV to ensure that you get the desired control on both units. Q: Is there an editor where I can connect my Spider Valve Mk II to my computer and edit/store tones? A: Yes, Spider Valve Edit is the editing software that can be used to edit the Spider Valve Mk II. Please see the following link for more information: Spider Valve Edit FAQs Q: What do the FBV Shortboard series stomp, FX Loop/Function 1, and Function 2 do? A: The Stomp button activates the "boost" on both the original FBV shortboard series (Mark I) and Mark II controllers. The FX Loop (Mk I)/Function 1 (Mk II) activates the Noise gate. The Function 2 (Mk II only) activates the loop feature on the Spider Valve Mk II. Q: What do the FBV Shortboard MkII Function 1 and Function 2 buttons do with Spider Valve MkII? How is it different from the original FBV Shortboard? A: The Function 1 button activates the Boost setting saved with each preset. The Boost setting (up to 8db pre and/or post amp model) can be found by entering “edit mode” on the SV MkII and pressing the R arrow on the 4-way nav button. The button equivalent to Function 1 on the original FBV Shortboard is labeled FX Loop. The Function 2 button (FBV Shortboard MkII only) is equivalent to the Quick Loop button on the faceplate of the SV MkII, and arms the built in Looper. For full functionality of the Looper, see the Spider Valve MkII Advanced User Guide. In addition, the Stomp button activates the first Smart FX on both the original and MkII FBV Shortboard controllers. Q: Can I run the Spider Valve Mk II head with only the outer two power tubes (removing the inner pair) to operate at a lower output volume? A: Yes, it is safe to run the Spider Valve Mk II Head with two 5881WXT’s. It is recommended that the output impedance be run at "half" when running in this configuration. An example would be running the 8 ohm head output connected to the 16 ohm cabinet connection, or the 4 ohm output to an an 8 ohm cabinet connection. Line 6 recommends re-biasing your amplifier to 35mv after removing the tubes, as the current draw will have changed. This should be done by a technician with lots of experience with tube amps. Q: Where is the fuse located in the chain? A: The fuse is located between the 12AX7s and 5881WXT’s (there is no master fuse). Spider Valve Cabinet FAQs Q: What are the specs for the Line 6 4x12 cabinet? A: 9 ply, ¾" wood with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. There is no internal baffle. Q: What are the ohm load options for the 4x12 cabinet? A: The switchable ohm load options for the 4x12 cabinet are 16 ohm mono, 8 ohm stereo, and 4 ohm mono. Trouble shooting Q: What is the manufacturer's warranty for Spider Valve Mk II? A: The warranty for the Spider Valve Mk II amplifier is 12 months from the date of purchase, the tubes warranty is 90 days from the date of purchase. Q: How do I perform a factory reset on my Spider Valve Mk II? A: The factory reset for the Spider Valve Mk II series is to hold the "A" button while powering the unit, then pushing the presets encoder twice. Q: I hear a loud "pop" when I switch between certain presets on the Spider Valve MKII. Is this normal? A: Sometimes if the Channel Volume is set or saved too low on a preset a loud pop will be heard when navigating to it and away from it. This is because of the level difference between it and the other saved presets. Try adjusting the preset's Channel Volume above "12:00" and saving again. This should level out the difference between the presets and eliminate the popping sound. Q: Will using different brands of 6L6 tubes in the Spider Valve Mk II void the warranty? A: Yes, so no Ruby, Mesa, GT, JJ, Tung-Sol, or others. The characteristic curves are not close enough, and the vacuum-to-gas ratio (soft, medium, hard) of the tube plays a role in that. So it’s best to use the specified Sovtek 5881WXT matched set tubes. Q: My amp seems to be malfunctioning. What can I do as an end user? Hi all, In the user guide I was looking at what models each pod go amp/pedal is based on and noticed that some are shaded with a lighter shade of their given colour, others a sharker shade. What does this denote? Thanks all.

Application Q: What are the presets on my Spider Valve amplifier? A: The user presets and artist/song presets for the Spider Valve are listed as attachments at the bottom of this document (please be aware that they are identical to the Spider III with the exceptions notated in the document). The Spider Valve user presets are the 36 user-programmable presets. The artist/song presets location cannot be saved, but you can modify and/or store these setting in the 36 user-programmable presets. If you would like to return your unit to the original presets, please perform a factory reset. Q: I noticed that some of the Artist/Song Presets from the Spider III are not present on the Spider Valve? A: Yes, some of the Artist/Song Presets from the original Spider III release were not included in the Spider Valve release due to space restrictions (please compare the two lists for clarification). Q: Are the Spider Valve series amps Mono(phonic)? A: Yes, the Spider Valve series amplifiers have a monophonic output (as are most tube amplifiers). Q: How can I connect a POD unit to my Spider Valve series amplifier? Connecting to Amps and Computers, Output Settings, Floorboard Compatibilty, Fletcher Munson, Multiple Amps Q: Do the Master volume and presence control applied to the power amp section only? A: Yes, the master volume and presence control are true analog. Q: Where is the Master volume located in the chain? A: it is after the preamp, and before the power amp. Specifications Q: What speakers are used in the Spider Valve amplifiers? Spider Valve 112: Celestion Vintage 30, 8 ohm Spider Valve 212: (2) Celestion Vintage 30s, 16 ohm Spider Valve 412 cabinet: (4) Celestion Vintage 30s, 16 ohm Q: What tubes ship in the Spider Valve amplifiers? A: V1 is the booster to the output tubes, V2 is the phase inverter for the output tubes. When viewing the amplifier from the back, V1 is on the left side on the combo and the right side on the head. Q: Can the SV handle another 12A_7 style tube without damage to tubes or circuitry? A: Yes, but as these tubes act as a phase inverter and a boost to the power amp (rather than traditionally "cleaning up" the preamp section), you may not get the result you are looking for. Q: What Line 6 controllers work with the Spider Valve series amplifier? Controller compatibility chart Setup/Connection Q: Is there a bias switch to change the power tubes to EL-34s or other power tube types? A: No, the Spider Valve does not offer bias switchable options and was designed to only be used with 6L6 power amp output tubes. Q: Is the effect loop series or parallel? Is the effect loop mono or stereo? A: The effect loop is series mono. Q: Is there a headphone output on the Spider Valve series? A: There is no headphone output on the Spider Valve Series, but you can use the XLR output to go to a mixer, then use the headphone jack from the mixer. Q: Can I run my Spider Valve amplifier without a speaker load? A:No, you cannot run the Spider Valve series without a speaker load. Please see the following link for more information on cabinet connections: Cabinet Connection and Ohm F.A.Q. Q: Can the Spider Valve be run with a Variac? A: This is not recommended as the lower voltage can cause problems with the digital processing in the Preamp section of the Spider Valve. Q: Can I run a Palmer S.E., THD Hot Plate, Power Soak, etc. for speaker simulation or power attenuation? A: There are no known issues regarding the use of any direct recording simulators or power attenuators between the power amp output and the speaker cabinet, but if there is damage caused by improper connections or malfunctioning gear it will not covered under the Line 6 warranty. Q: Do the 112 and 212 combos support external speaker cabinets? If so, will the external cabs mute the internal speakers of the SV? A: Yes, the Spider Valve supports the use of additional cabinets. Please ensure that the ohm load is correct to avoid damaging your amplifier. Q: What is the bias voltage for the 6L6 tubes? A: 35 ma (or mv) Q: Does the XLR output still send signal when the amplifier is on standby? Is there an FX loop? MIDI ports? A: The XLR Direct Out (which is a POD-style output with speaker simulation) will function when the amplifier is in standby mode. The Spider Valve has a pre-amp out (effect send) and Power amp in (effect return) section. There are no MIDI ports on the Spider Valve series. Q: What do the FBV shortboard stomp, FX Loop/Function 1, and Function 2 do? A: The Stomp button activates the "boost" on both the original (Mark I) and Mark II shortboard. The FX Loop (Mk I)/Function 1 (Mk II) activates the Noise gate. The Function 2 (Mk II only) has no function on the Spider Valve. Q: Does the FBV controller (long board) work any differently that the other FBV controller switch the Spider Valve series? Hey all, first post here, hopefully I am in the right forum for this question. Can anyone here confirm if the amp models in the plugin POD Farm Platinum are the same as the ones that could be found in the POD HD500X or POD HD PRO X with the add-on model packs? Trying to figure out if the plugin or the hardware is the more reasonable purchase for myself. Thanks!

I recently just got into guitar and bought the Spider IV 15W amp. I tried to plug in my cord and no sound was coming out. I then noticed the only way the amp would work is if I put pressure on the cord into the jack. However once I let go it goes back to not working. Is there anyway I can fix this or should I look to return it?

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my HX Stomp. I bought it 6 months ago and been using it as both audio interface or plugged into my scarlett ever since. I'm really satisified. Lately, I decided to use it as an effect stomp in front of a tube amp (effects only, no amp or IRs) or straight into the PA. All I got from these two scenarios was disturbing noise and no sound. The routing signal has always been: guitar - jack cable - Hx stomp - jack cable coming out of the L/mono main output - Amp or PA. Nothing worked. Needless to say, I checked all the cables I used and they're all good, I used 4 different amps, 3 PAs. Has anyone ever experienced something similar? PS: as audio interface or in front of my Scarlett (L/mono output to interface preamp) works very well. Thanks so much! Love to all

Hello all, Lets say you don't have 4CM as an option into your amp. What are some suggestions of constructing a signal chain to go in the front of an amp? For example - volume pedal --> distortion --> delay --> Reverb?

Hi Guys. I've bougt my new HELIX and moving my first steps to learn and use it! I am interested in using it with my Hughes and Kettner Grandmaister 36, in particular connecting Helix to amp's FX Loop return, so using my tube amp only as power amp. The question is not about other ways to connect… I know the 4CM, I know connection in front of amp…I know that everyone has his own preferences….but my necessity is to connect in the amp's fx loop return. OK… I've a simple question, becouse I've read tons of articles, posts, spent hours on YouTube videos… but without finding the answer :) If I connect from HELIX 1/4 mono out to amp's FX Loop return,.....what should I select in global settings INS/OUTS? Instrument or Line? Thanks for your attention and feedbacks!

I was looking for recommendations or tips about how to get the most out of my Helix LT, keeping in mind I am not a professional musician. I have my Helix LT and I have it plugged in directly into the instrument input of a Boss Katana 100 amp. I want to get the best sound possible out of my Helix so would I be better suited to buy a PA speaker of some kind like the HeadRush or something to that affect or better speakers directly into my PC and bypass the amp all together? Or would anything not really make a significant difference compared to what I am already doing?
