  1. Help with Helix and studio monitor setup I recently got my HS5 studio monitors and have connected them to my helix floor with the 1/4” to 1/4” cables. In the global preferences on helix I’ve set the 1/4” setting to Line and the level knob on the back of the monitors in the centre position which is +4dB. My main usage is to use Helix as an audio interface to record. I’ve been watching YouTube videos and reading the line 6 forums but I’m having a bit of trouble understanding some things. - The big volume knob on the Helix and Unity gain I see a lot of people saying that they turn this knob up fully and leave it there? Do I need to do this for my setup? Will it affect my tones in any way if I don’t do this? - Calibrating studio monitors for loudness with pink noise and SPL app for mixing purposes When I was looking into this one what I seen people doing was using the level control on the back of their monitors to achieve the desired SPL but this has me confused. My understanding from Helix manual was that going from 1/4” to 1/4” on the studio monitors would need a setting of Line level in global settings. Also the setting for Line level on my monitors is the +4dB one, so if I use the level knobs on the monitors to calibrate won’t that mess things up? Why can’t I calibrate the SPL with the Helix volume knob instead? I apologise if this is a bit of a word salad, but I am new to this stuff and just trying my best to learn. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Hello! I want to use HX Stomp XL as audio interface. My problem is that simple audio playback and recording are as noisy as changing frequencies between radio stations. The sound is unrecognisable. Sound file attached. Of course, I installed HX Edit and the firmware, everything is the latest version. The pedal works perfectly with the bass, I can also work properly in HX Edit. I did reset Stomp to factory settings. The problem persists. There are no special settings in the Audio MIDI setup. 48000khz and Steam 1. (image attached below) I also checked the cables. Attached the Ableton settings image below. Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 was previously installed on the Macbook, which works flawlessly (and all other audio interfaces too). Could this be interfering with Stomp? OS and software versions: - macOS Sonoma 14.3.1 - HX Stomp XL Firmware 3.71.0 - HX Edit 3.70 - Line 6 Helix Driver2 Version 1.5.0 - DAW: Ableton Live 11 lite version 11.3.21 I read the HX Stomp maunal, asked Google, Youtube, AI to review the docs and asked him, but I couldn't find the solution. What did I miss? Any ideas? I tried it on Dell Inspiron with Windwos 10, that one is a bit older notebook. Focusrite was also installed before, tried with it, then uninstalled it as its possible. Hi fam, I'm quite a noob with all this gear, I never really had the money for them but since working a full time job I've been able to buy myself a Helix LT and now I have an RC 505 (only 3 days ago). I need help though. I want to use my Helix LT as my main Audio Interface, but I would like to connect my RC 505 and my Shure sm58 for my vocals either via return 1 of my LT or the mic input for the RC505. I use Reaper as my main DAW for when I stream (I just started twitch streaming a few months ago and am really enjoying the community there while I practice my songs). My current Setup: Guitar into LT, LT to RC 505 via jack. Mic into RC505. RC 505 being used as USB interface into PC/DAW. What I dont like about it: I have my own presets that I really like on my LT for both my mic and guitar. So having my voice in the RC 505, although sounds good, not as good as i want it for my ears. There is also this annoying thing where I can't figure out how to turn off the monitoring sound and only listen to the playback (so I am consistenly hearing dual tones). I've played around with USB in and USB out levels, but both completely take away the sound that goes into my DAW). My Thinking for Next setup LT as interface into PC/DAW. Use Return 1 for Mic in first chain. Guitar Input on second chain. RC 505 connected via Midi to LT. Now I'm not sure if this will work properly, I know I can then control the RC505 with a footswitch if I go this route but what about the sound? Would I also need to connect the LT and RC505 via jack (LT jack output into RC 5050 jack inputs) on top of the MIDI cables? Would I then still be able to control the Track effects of the RC505 for transitions etc? Any advice for someone who is getting into live perfomances as a solo artist would be appreciated! NOTE: I am also looking at buying a Akai mk3 mini in the near future. Thanks fam.
  4. Hello. Maybe I've missed the memo, so excuse me if this is a silly question: are line 6 no longer selling POD Studio interfaces (like the UX1 and UX2)? I've been using them for quite a while and recommended them to someone who's starting out, but I've noticed they're more expensive and rarer. I've also noticed I can't find them in the Line 6 website. If so, do you know if Line 6 have replaced them with another product? Is the option just to go to another brand for sound interfaces when I need to change mine? Thank you.
  5. Recently, I upgraded to a L6 Helix, two M-Audio speaker monitors, and the Clarett+ 4pre audio interface. My issue is how to connect what I have to get the most out of it. This setup isn't for gigs, it's for home recording. 1.-- I have a spdif cable connected from the output of the helix to the "optical in" of the clarett+. It's a "cinnamon" toslink optical cable. I have two more "digital" livewire spdif cables. I see there is an extra spdif "in" and "out" on the back of the Clarett audio interface, besides the optical in. On the Helix, the spdif output is connected to the clarett optical in, but the input is available. How many spdif cables should I connect? How should they be connected? Also, I have xlr to 1/4 cables--the music store said I would still need these even with Spdif input and output. Do I need to use two xlr - 1/4 cables in addition to spdif (Helix xlr outputs to Clarett audio interface 1/4 line inputs)? Should I not use both spdif and xlr together? 2.-- Both the Clarett+ audio interface and the Helix use usb interfaces to connect to a computer. Clarett uses a mini usb, and Helix uses a more traditional (looking) usb. I was told to either use the Helix usb or both, and they leaned toward both being preferable. Which is the best configuration? 3.-- I feel novice as hell asking this, but should I plug my instrument (guitar, in this case) into the Clarett AI or the Helix? If I want distortion, do I have to plug it into the Helix? Appreciate the help ~Ven
  6. I'm trying to figure out if I can use the helix as an audio interface for recording all my instruments, including acoustic drums. I thought I might be able to do this by connecting it to an 8 channel preamp, like the behringer ada8000 for example, which would give me room for 8 drum mic inputs. However, I came across this youtube video where he says the helix has 8-in and 8-out via usb: I don't understand what that means. Does the helix have 8 inputs I can plug mics into? From looking at it I don't think so. Does it mean I can connect and 8 channel preamp to it? Can someone please explain what the 8 in and 8 out means? Also, if I want to use the helix as an audio interface for recording drums, would I do that by connecting it to an 8 channel preamp? Thanks.
  7. Hello Friends, I understand that we can use Our Helix Floor as an audio interface. I wanted to ask if its possible to be able to route the Helix's Audio Interface into a Monitor Controller (Ex: Mackie Big Knob, Palmer Monicon L)? This would allow me to go back and forth between two sets of monitors for referencing purposes when I use a Monitor Controller. If this is possible, how would the steps go for me to make this happen? (I'm currently learning how to Mix music and trying to save money by skipping on a dedicated Audio Interface and just use the Audio Interface the Helix can provide).   8. Hey all, I have the Helix as my audio interface in my home recording studio. I have a Roland FA-06, Guitar, Bass, Vox as my needed inputs. Right now I run one at time and am sick of unplugging. Would I be able to run them all through Helix at once or do I need to get something like the Presonus Quantum? (If I can run them all in, how would you do that) Also I have an Presonus ADL600, Kush Electra EQ and a DBX 162SL Comp as my external hardware? How would you incorporate those components into your single chain for recording? Thanks for any help or suggestions.
  9. Ok, I'm wondering now. Or venting off. Or whatever... Latency of the Helix as an audio interface is all the way on par with the worst of the worst interfaces on the market. Under macOS, at 44.1kHz and 64 samples buffersize, roundtrip latency is 16.9ms (measured manually - but also reported by Logic). Seriously, that's as bad as it gets. And here comes the kicker: When using it without the dedicated driver as a class compliant interface through Core Audio (which is unfortunately causing some issues here and there and not a parallel option anymore for whatever weird reasons since firmware 2.8 I think...), the resulting latency figures are *way* lower, IIRC (can't be bothered to delete the driver at the moment) something around 9ms. Usually, whenever audio interfaces come with their own driver, the RTL figures are better compared to using Core Audio (or ASIO4All under Windows), with the Helix it's the opposite. IMO this shows a clear lack of effort in the driver development department. Even my Zoom G3 comes up with less latency, the Boss GT-10 too. Add to this that, while causing some issues, things such as crackles or so in recordings aren't happening when using the Helix in class compliant mode (these would usually be a reason to raise the internal "safety buffers"). I'm absolutely fine with mediocre driver performance on a unit which isn't meant to be a professional audio interface in the first place - but as being an audio interface is at least a rather large part of the "Helix idea" (otherwise we wouldn't see all the USB routing options and such), it should defenitely not deliver the worst performance, either. To give you an idea: Most interfaces in the 100 bucks realm offer around half the roundtrip latency at the same settings, my €200 Zoom UAC-2 goes down to 5.9ms. As is, it's completely impossible for me to have any fun with, say, a software amp sim. Heck, it's so bad that discriminating keyboard players would complain about just the output latency (around 9ms plus input MIDI latency), let alone drummers triggering some samples. Time to give the driver development some love I'd say.

Hello, I'm begineer in the world of records and I start testing my Firehawk FX how one audio interface, however, I having problems: first I connect my Firehawk FX in my nootebook with the USB entrance; adjust the volume level of record on my computer in the max and start recording in the Audacity but the volume of my records don't is good how the volume of another records that I view in YouTube. What is the problem of my records? I need buy one audio interface to solve this or exist one resource that can help me and I don't know? Grateful if you can help me!
  11. Hi everyone, I think the best way to record with Helix is directly through USB. It gives me the most options and it is easiest to set up. However, sometimes we cannot connect through USB, because we are a someone else's studio, for instance. In that case we need to connect through an external Audio Interface (AI). When I connect my 1/4" OUT on the Helix directly to my AI (Behringer UMC404HD, but also tried this with my friend's Audient) I find that the sounds are extremely compressed. Neither the AI nor the DAW (Cubase) show that the signal is clipping, but still it sounds horrible. I'm experiencing the same thing when connecting my headphones directly to the Helix. I read that this may be cause due to the impedance of the headphones, so I bought myself a brand new set of Beyerdynamics DT770 PRO (250 Ohm) headphones, but I'm still experiencing the same thing. I tried changing the output level from Line to Instrument and also match this on the AI, but it does not resolve the compression (just lowers the volume slightly). I also tried lowering the output level on the Output block in my signal path, but this also only lowers the volume (as does the Volume Knob on the Helix). I also played with the Guitar In-Z setting on the Input block in my signal path. That seems to have some influence, but the sound is still very compressed and nowhere near how it sounds through the Power section of my amp. (I know there will always be a difference, but it really sounds uncontrollable and horribly distorted) I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what it is. I hope someone in this forum can help me out find the right settings.
  12. I'm brand new at home recording, so please, be patient with me. I've been asked to record some guitar and sax tracks into Band Lab, and I haven't the slightest idea of what I need to do so. I have an older laptop running Windows 7. I have a POD HD500, into which I guess I can run both my guitar and a microphone for the sax. Will the HD500 serve as the AI, or do I need to buy an external one?

  15. Been recording with the Line 6 helix as my primary audio interface. Works ok for guitar parts, with direct monitoring but as soon as I switch to virtual instruments, anything below 256 samples gives me some clicks and pops. 256 samples has a latency of around 8-9 ms. I have been considering getting an Audient ID14. Questions: 1. Will this improve the latency situation for use with Virtual instruments? (soft synths, kontakt etc....) 2. How do I connect the Helix to the SPDIF in on the Audient? 3. Will I have to keep changing the sample rate on the Audient when moving from Helix recording to VI recording etc. etc.? 4. Will I have to connect the Helix both via a line out and via SPDIF to acheive reamping functionality? I also welcome suggestions for other interfaces. 300 USD max please...
  16. Hi All, Basically what i'm after is to be able to record 3x wet signals at the same time via a suitable audio interface into my DAW. Set up consists of a pod hd 500, Yamaha digital piano & electric drum kit. The main issue i've encounted while searching for a suitable interface is the lack of line inputs. I was looking at the Focusrite 6i6 as it's in my price range, but I was unsure how i'd connect all 3 instruments? I'd planned on running the pod hd500 in to the interface via the XLR Out on the pod to the line input of the audio interface (via XLR to TRS 1/4) here is the problem... the research I've done also recommends connecting the digital piano via the same set up (R ----- L\+R out to audio interface line input) & i'd like to run the same type of connection to the electric kit... Is this as simple as me having to fork out the extra cash for a higher end audio interface, or can I run these 3 instruments via a different set up into the audio interface? I'd even be happy being able to record 2 wet signals at once. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks :)
  17. So I've had the Helix for about 6 months now, and I've been recording with the Helix USB port, because my old audio interface wasn't that great. I'm going to be buying a Focusrite Clarett 8Pre X because I'm getting more into my home studio. I was wondering if I can run the Helix through it like this: - Helix XLR L & R outs into channels 3 & 4 (for example) on the interface. - Guitar Thru on Helix Rack into DI box (then into the interface) or High Z input on the interface. - Aux out 3 (for example) on the interface, into fx return 4 on the Helix. I would then use the three tracks to record my stereo amped tone and a DI track, then send the DI back into the Helix, using FX Return 4 at line level, as the input, and then re amp to my liking. My main concern is that I'm not sure if I can send the track back into the Helix the way I described. Any help is much appreciated!
  18. Hi folks. I am a HELIX newb, so please go gently! Can anyone advise me how best to achieve the following live rig/setup using Helix as my guitar amp/effects rack and as my audio interface between my DAW and PA/backline? 1. I need to use my DAW to play recorded synths/keys (I'll be using wavs from DAW not midi). 2. I will also need a click track on a separate audio output which will go through a mini mixer which the drummer can control (drummer will then be able to hear click and monitor mix in headphones). 3. I'll be using Helix for guitar with output to an FRFR speaker which I was thinking I'd use in front of me (wedge monitor). 4. Everything, including rest of band, goes to FoH PA and stage monitors. My questions: A) Can I use Helix as the audio interface with one stereo output for synths/keys and another to route click through to drummer's mixer (both from DAW)? If so, how? B) Would you bother having a separate output for the guitar to its own speaker or would you just have a full-monitor mix of the whole band? (I'm nervous of the latter having only ever played with my guitar amp behind me. I'd also like to be able to control guitar feedback independently of monitor mix). Advice very much welcomed. Any diagrams of how you'd set this up would also be super helpful. Best wishes Simon
  19. Hi guys, Until now, I've been using an audio interface with BIAS / Guitar Rig type of softwares to records my tracks. Since Helix got out I just dream about that rig, saw an incredible amount of video pointing out how awesome it is. I fell in love with the sounds and its possibilities and I am more than willing to buy one but I have a last question before jumping in the arena. My guitar skills are not over the top and thus, I still use software such as Mymusicteacher to improve myself. I plug my guitar in the interface and its detected by the software, allowing me to get a live feedback on my play. Does anyone know if Helix is compatible with this software ? If plugged in USB does it takes the role of an audio interface ? I'd like to infuse my all rig with Helix and that would be the absolute comfort ! Thanks for taking the time, cheers guys. Fred.
  20. Hi guys, I have the Firehawk FX, and I also have Scarlett 2i2 Audio Interface which I normally use to record my vocal with a condenser mic. Now a shop nearby has Sennheiser mic 50% discount. As I'm looking forward to recording my electric guitar in the future, and I heard that dynamic mic suits the job, this is a good chance to buy one. The problem is I'm not sure if I should or need it. Which way, in your opinion, is the better way to record the electric guitar between ... Guitar --> Firehawk (with amp simulation) --> Audio Interface (Scarlett 2i2) --> PC VS Guitar --> Firehawk (for effects) --> Amp (a small tube amp, Vox AC4C1-BL) --> Mic --> Audio Interface (Scarlett 2i2) --> PC Thanks a lot guys.
  21. I'm having issues using my spider v 60w amp for recording. I had it working but there was a huge latency issue and when i went to fix it, it completely stopped working. I have windows 10 and was using the program ohm studio to upload and share music using Livewire cord from amp to computer. All drivers/software are up to date. If anyone has a fix for this or has any ideas to try it would be appreciated. Thanks
  22. Hey Everyone, So I have a workflow/signal chain question for you all. To start, here's my setup AI: Apogee Quartet Speakers: Yamaha HS8's with Sub DAW: Logic Pro X My question to you, is how should I go about routing? For recording, Should I go directly from the Helix into my DAW via USB, or should I go XLRs out of my Helix, into my Apogee Quartet, and Apogee Quartet into my DAW via USB? Then for standard practicing, should I do one of the above, or go directly from my Helix into my Yamaha HS8s via XLR or 1/4 inch? The problem with using my Helix via USB is that I have multiple microphones going into my Quartet, and having to switch active audio interfaces back and fourth while recording is a hassle. I suppose I could always use Apple's "Aggregate Audio Device" function, but am not confident in its usability. I'd love to figure out a way to make this work as I'd like to be able to use Helix's ramping function. Also, in everything that I've mentioned, do you see a need for me to be using a word clock cable? Thanks,
  23. Hello, I´m user of POD 2.0 and I usually record the songs using line in (analog input) of my pc. Therefore, I´m using my Realtek integrated soundcard to convert it to digital signal. I try to improve audio quality of my records and I´m looking for an audio interface to connect POD 2.0 and then to USB port of my pc. Audio interfaces uses directly the signal of my electric guitar as input signal and I think that POD 2.0 has a different output signal compared with my guitar (I think POD 2.0 has a strong signal output). Then, Why type of audio interface is it recomended? Can I use POD 2.0 output signal as input of the audio interface? Thank you
  24. Hello, first of all, please don`t mind my English. No native Speaker! I want to record my EWI Usb with the Edirol UA 25 plugged in the Aux Input of the Spider Jam (or other Inputs doesn`t makes a difference). But no matter which output I take (The jacks or the cinch or the Phone output) there ist always a strong humming. And when I play the Loop the humming ist on the recorded file. Anyone an ides what to do? Greetings Friedus
  25. Ok...is anyone having difficulty recording to a DAW. My setup is: Helix Logic X Macbook Pro running El Capitan (previously had Yosemite installed but upgraded to Capitan to try and cure the problem without success) Using the Helix as an audio interface and recording into Logic X works fine but as playback repeats the sound begins to suffer serious gapping. Keep it playing and it starts glitching uncontrollably and sounds almost like digital feedback. If the USB is disconnected from the Helix and I play the sound back through my MOTU interface the sound is pristine. To me this is a deal breaker for the Helix and i'm trying to ascertain if the problem is my setup before I ask Line 6 to take the unit back.
