  1. I'm having an issue with my POD HD500x in which when I open up my DAW (Ableton Live 9) configured to use the POD so I can record, it crashes my computer pretty much every time. The information on the blue screen tells me that it the error is: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_OR_LESS_EQUAL(l6podhd5se64.sys), so I think it may be a driver issue. However, I've updated everything on my POD again after doing a factory reset (USB Firmware, Flash memory, Drivers) and Monkey shows that it's all up to date, but this has not resolved anything. I've done pretty much everything I could with Monkey. I've also used memtest to check my ram in case that is the issue but I don't think it is. It still crashes every time, either after a bit of messing around or recording or editing, or it crashes immediately upon opening up another program, although sometimes the error is KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE. So pretty much I have been unable to use my POD to record anything and I don't know what the issue is or how to fix it. Searching the support knowledge base told me to uninstall the driver usbfilter.sys but my computer is not an AMD. The list of USB drivers I have in System32>Drivers is usbccgp.sys, usbcir.sys, usbd.sys, usbehci.sys, usbhub.sys, USBHUB3.SYS, usbohci.sys, usbport.sys, usbprint.sys, usbrmp.sys, SUBSTOR.SYS, usbuhci.sys, usbvideo.sys, USBXHCI.SYS. Thank you.
  2. Hi Guys, I bought my new POD HD 500X about a week ago, and since then i encountered a blue screen issue which happened twice already. The issue occurs while plugging out the POD USB cable from my computer. This makes me very nerves since the main reason i bought the POD HD 500X is for recording and mostly using it with my PC..also i'm worried those errors are causing damage to my PC. Here is the error i got from the blue screen (shared from blue screen viewer): ================================================== Dump File : 012515-18158-01.dmp Crash Time : 1/25/2015 10:21:09 PM Bug Check String : SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION Bug Check Code : 0x0000003b Parameter 1 : 00000000`c0000005 Parameter 2 : fffff800`02ed415e Parameter 3 : fffff880`0dd7dcb0 Parameter 4 : 00000000`00000000 Caused By Driver : ntoskrnl.exe Caused By Address : ntoskrnl.exe+76e80 File Description : NT Kernel & System Product Name : Microsoft® Windows® Operating System Company : Microsoft Corporation File Version : 6.1.7601.18700 (win7sp1_gdr.141211-1742) Processor : x64 Crash Address : ntoskrnl.exe+76e80 Stack Address 1 : Stack Address 2 : Stack Address 3 : Computer Name : Full Path : C:\Windows\Minidump\012515-18158-01.dmp Processors Count : 4 Major Version : 15 Minor Version : 7601 Dump File Size : 321,248 Dump File Time : 1/25/2015 10:22:37 PM ================================================== Here is my computer (desktop) settings: windows 7 64 bit Intel Core i5 4690 3.5Ghz 6MB L3 Cache s1150 Asus H97M-PLUS G.Skill Ares 2x4GB DDR3 1600Mhz Asus GTX750 Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 64MB 7200RPM Sata III I tried asking line 6 support but they didn't respond..please if you know what's causing this and how to solve this issue let me know, Thank you.
  3. Summary Check the Pod HD ASIO driver is not performing Sample Rate Conversion without you being aware of it. Remove easy potential sources for stutter. Background I had been plagued by the commonly-reported Pod HD-related blue screens (BSOD) on my Win 10 desktop, particularly when working with my DAW, Reaper. I have reached a point where my setup is now stable. Over recent weeks I've had four recording sessions without bluescreens whilst maintaining a USB connection. In this post I'm intending to document what I did, what was effective and what was ineffective. I see many frustrated posts about this issue. Sometimes people seem to be replacing or returning their Pod HD, which is a shame. I have not seen Sample Rate Conversion problems being talked about in the trouble shooting posts I read, so I hope this helps someone. Workarounds or ineffective configurations I tried - Ignoring USB and going direct to my other interface (as I have one). Obviously this works, but the sound quality did not seem as good as the USB connection to me. I'm not saying I can hear the extra DAC/ADC step, but it's another spot where you have to get the levels right, and you need two cables if you want stereo. My other interface only has two channels and I wanted to keep a mic in the other one. So, if you are really stuck this works fine, but was not great for me. - Disabled Selective USB Power Down. You will see other references to this step. It did not reduce BSODs for me on its own. I did leave this setting disabled in my final configuration, though, so it may be a factor. - Using the rear USB vs the front USB. This does have some logic to it as the front USB ports on a desktop tend to be a hub, so if the rears are not then things have been simplified. Using a Rear USB did not make a difference for me. - USB2 vs USB3. Simply swapping to USB2 was not enough for me, but I have continued to use a USB2 port in the stable configuration, so could be a factor. If you have USB2 ports available I think it make sense to use them, as the Pod HD was, I think, designed before the USB3 standard was introduced. - Different combinations of allowing the Pod to be or not to be the audio device used by Windows as default made no difference for me. - Disabling Windows System Sounds on its own made no difference for me, but I have continued to leave them off in the stable configuration, so could be a factor. After trying those solutions I found the official Line 6 advice on USB troubleshooting here: https://line6.com/support/page/kb/recording/computer-audio-set-up-and-troubleshooting/usb-audio-troubleshooting-r443/ and set about eliminating sources of stutter which seem to be less-well handled by the Pod HD driver stack when compared with the driver for my Focusrite Saffire 6 USB audio interface. I noticed that Reaper was reporting that the Pod driver was operating at a 44.1 kHz sample rate, despite the Windows Sound Control Panel settings being set to 48kHz sample rate and Reaper being set to use whatever the hardware was using. Checking the Line 6 Audio-Midi Devices App confirmed the same thing, and the Sample Rate Converter light in that app was on. I went through all the parts of the end to end system where I could set the sample rate and made sure all were aligned to the same settings (48kHz, 24 bit). There are four places I checked and aligned: 1) Windows Sound Control Panel/Playback tab/Line 6 POD HD Device Properties/Advanced/Default Format -> Set to 24bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality) 2) Windows Sound Control Panel/Recording tab/Line 6 POD HD Device Properties/Advanced/Default Format -> Set to 24bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality) 3) Reaper/Audio Device Settings -> Request Sample Rate to 48000 4) On the Pod itself, under the IO settings there is a setting for the sample rate of the S/PDIF interface. This name suggests it has nothing to do with the USB output, but I made sure it was set to 48Khz too. Annoyingly, I can't remember what the default was, so I can't remember if I changed this. After step 3 Line 6 Audio-Midi Devices App now reports no Sample Rate Conversion happening and Reaper also reports 48kHz operation. I also shut down some unnecessary audio-using apps (Skype, Google Music Manager and Steam) and removed the Windows System Sounds. I felt these were easy and prudent steps to take. I felt from the Line 6 article the general advice was to remove sources of noise and stuttering, so where I could remove potential sources easily for me I did so. I did not at any time remove my existing Focusrite Saffire 6 USB interface and its driver, so in my case at least the Pod is able to co-exist with other ASIO drivers. Note that the Focusrite wasn't being used as Reaper doesn't provide the option to use two ASIO devices at the same time, but was plugged in and powered on. I have not taken the time to isolate the single factor that has made a difference for me, however the BSODs did seem to clear up once I had got the Pod ASIO driver operating in 48 kHz sample rate instead of doing Sample Rate Conversion. I don't yet know why it was stuck operating at 44.1 kHz, as nothing before or after it was asking for that and I had not changed defaults. Furthermore, when I was trying to force it back to 44.1 to isolate the fix for this post it stubbornly refused to return to that rate. At this point I have arrived at a stable setup for me so I am unlikely to spend more time characterizing the cause, but will report back if I find something. I'd say it is likely others have this problem as I don't change defaults for this sort of thing. Effective Configuration - Disabled Selective USB Power Down - Disabled Windows System Sounds - Shut down unnecessary apps that use audio - Ensured Windows Sound Control Panel properties for Playback and - Recording on the Pod are set to 24bit, 48000 Hz - Reaper/Audio Device Settings -> Request Sample Rate to 48000 (key step for me) - Using front panel USB2 port I am sure not all of these steps are quite necessary for me, but wanted to share as completely as I could. General guidance, summary observations and speculations Clearly, reading the official advice at https://line6.com/support/page/kb/recording/computer-audio-set-up-and-troubleshooting/usb-audio-troubleshooting-r443/ is good practice. I've internalized that article as "you have to be as kind to the drivers for the Pod HD as you can". For me that meant getting over a Sample Rate Conversion that was happening, which I speculate takes extra cycles in the driver stack, introduces more potential error conditions and makes it more susceptible to stutter conditions. I am not sure why the driver was choosing to operate at 44.1 Khz instead of 48 Khz, but I have been able to force it to 48 Khz operation with Reaper. Removing unnecessary Sample Rate Conversion feels like good practice in any case. Getting the USB connection stable has been a big plus for me. The clarity of my recordings is better, I have stereo, so things sound fuller, it is easier to set levels and hear changes. It makes me feel like I need Helix Native less. Happy days :-) DM
  4. Dear reader, I've bought the Helix LT a couple of days ago. After trying it for some hours I wanted to go into the Helix edit to try and make some custom tones and update the helix as it is on version 2.30. Unfortunately every time I plug in the Helix and turn it on my PC crashed with a BSOD saying "system service exception" It's an up to date windows 10 PC with all the latest drivers and everything. Hope you guys can help me out with this one. Kind Regards, Wxam
  5. Hello, hello. First posting on the forum, so yay. Too bad it's for an ugly, annoying issue: Using Windows 8.1, I'm consistently being stuck with a BSOD when recording / monitoring through Cubase. It happens at random, really. Sometimes I could be working for forty-five minutes to an hour or two, and other times I'll be slapped with that big, aggravating " :( " in a matter of minutes. The problem is always cited as "SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED L6PODHD564.sys" Computer collects information to prevent data loss, blah blah blah... is supposed to restart automatically, but never does. I've looked around the web a bit before showing up, and apparently it's a driver conflict? There are known issues with Logitech webcams and the HD500 drivers, but having disconnected / disabled the webcam, I still run into frequent BSOD's. I've made sure all of my drivers are up-to-date, and I've checked all of m L6 stuff to make sure that it, too, is updated... but it's turning out to be pretty fruitless. And I am stumped. Anyone have anything that they could put forward to this? I realize that Cubase is really good at finding faults to crash on, and that Windows 8.1 is... pretty new, but my hope is that I'm overlooking a simple solution. Any help is appreciated! Note: I'm using a standard ACER Aspire E1-522-7843. Spec-sheet here: http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model-datasheet/NX.M81AA.011
  6. I am getting constant crashes when running Cubase 9 on a brand new Windows 10 HP Pavillion laptop (Intel i7, 8GB RAM) The Line 6 is the default audio driver, I've disabled the webcam, other sound cards, tried removing anti virus software and manually gone through and updated all my drivers. The fault is mostly BAD POOL HEADER and the crash log is saying the the LINE6PODHDPROSE.sys driver is to blame. Running Cubase with the standard audio drivers is fine, running any program other than Cubase is fine. I'm not the most computer literate guy in the world, but I've searched Google and countless forums and followed all their advice and the problem is still occuring. Do Line 6 need to add an update for these drivers to stop this happening? Couple of logs for your perusal: On Fri 13/01/2017 00:25:52 your computer crashed crash dump file: C:\WINDOWS\memory.dmp This was probably caused by the following module: l6podhdprose64.sys (L6PODHDPROSE64+0x6FBC7) Bugcheck code: 0xD1 (0xFFFF860F3A663000, 0x2, 0x1, 0xFFFFF803FF46FBC7) Error: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL file path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\l6podhdprose64.sys product: GuitarPort company: Line 6 description: GuitarPort WDM Audio Device Driver Bug check description: This indicates that a kernel-mode driver attempted to access pageable memory at a process IRQL that was too high. This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem. This might be a case of memory corruption. More often memory corruption happens because of software errors in buggy drivers, not because of faulty RAM modules. This problem might also be caused because of overheating (thermal issue). The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver that cannot be identified at this time.

    Daw crashes

Hi. So. Im at the end of my wits with my daw crashing at home. I have 2 computers at home and 1 in the studio. home pc. win 7 32bit. 2gb ddr2 ram. P4 2.8ghz home laptop. Win 7 32bit 2gb ram celeron 1.6ghz ?? studio laptop win 7 64bit 8gb ram 2.4 ghz Pentium something or other. The stuff i have at home wont even look at the helix drivers, it crashes instantly. I have to use asio4all to even get a few minutes playing around with it before i get a bsod. "IRQL_......ect ect" Every time it crashes it mentions Ks.sys As i type this its just did a new trick , its now crashed an mention a page error , whatever that is. But that could be unrelated i dont know. The main issue is the irql driver ks.sys bsod. It usually happens when i select inputs for a track ie usb 3,4,5,6,7,8 . Or stopping playing saving. Also when tweaking buffer sizes. As i said the helix drivers dont even allow the daw to open before crashing. The laptop at the studio however runs 10 ins from a tascam usb interface and plays nice with the helix drivers. Zero issues 2 things i know. 32 bit os at home 64 at the studio And then there's 4 times the ram at the studio. Im not pushing the pcs at home im just trying to mess around with 3 or 4 audio tracks to practice reamping so i know what im doing. So far ive reinstalled win 7 twice and went deep into the running services to tweak win7 for performance (i had the issues beforehand) Disabled all extra ports Disabled everything not needed Updated the bios so i could disable the onboard audio. Im stumped Anyone?
  8. Blue screen of death when using the HD500 and the laptop with Windows10. Mainly when using Reaper but at times also when using iTunes. Procedures: 1) switch the laptop on 2) open HD Edit 3) open Reaper 4) start to use Reaper and between 30 seconds and 10 minutes (random) it crash the operating system with a BSOD. The code is mostly different... some times is to do with BAD_POOL, but mainly it's some problem with a L6HD564.SYS (or similar, sorry I'm not near my laptop. What have I tried to do to resolve this? 1) disabled all other sound devices and cameras too. 2 used the Flight mode ON mode. 3) power management is set for high performance 4) updated ALL drivers in Device manager 5) updated the bios 6) removed the HD500 driver and downloaded and installed the current driver from Line 6 7) checked the memory and Disc drive, used defragmenter and CCcleaner for cleaning the registry. The crash has been at random sometimes everything works fine even if I use the Asio4all and with multiple sound cards. Switch everything off, the next morning try again and everything crashes. What is the problem? My laptop is 1 year old i7 with 8gb of memory And 2tb HDD. I submitted a Ticket also but any help is appreciated.
  9. Hello, fellows. I bought my POD HD500X like a week ago and as the normal procedures I downloaded line 6 monkey, and installed everything from it to the date also ASIO4ALL. I didn't have any trouble until I started to use DAWs. When I was using and recording with Adobe Audition I got blue screen of death(BSOD) several times and with different errors. Checked all the drivers, and they all were updated.I decided to format my computer and start from cero. So, once again installed everything (all drivers updated incluiding pod's). Decided to give Adobe Audition another chance (I thought the problem was in this DAW), guess what: BSOD again when recording using the POD as interface. Well, tired of that error, I downloaded FL Studio and when recording: BOOM, BSOD once again, at this point I was really tired of those problems, so I gave one more chance to FL. I was working fine with it, recorded several tracks and stuff but I got the BSOD again when I was switching presets with the footswitch of the pod. So im thinking: Is my POD broken by fabric or something?¿Is there any solution to this BSOD problem? I bought this for recording purposes only and having all these problems is making me want to give it back to the store. Also, my computer description: Windows 10, Intelcore i7,16gb ram, Nvidia gtx 950m.
  10. Hi all. I recently upgraded to WIndows 10 and have tried to get my X3 live to work as an ASIO device inside Cubase 5.1.2. It works fine stand alone in Gear box but when selectiing the device in audio manager in Cubas I get a BSOD. I have the latest drivers installed. Line 6 Monkey 1.72 X3 Live drivers 4.2.7.6 The computer is an ASUS ROG GL752VW Win 10 64-bit 16GB RAM The windows installation is an upgraded windows 8 installation. (It was delivered like that from the reseller) Could the be the issue? Idon't want to re-install windows if I don't have to. Thanks in advance. //Niklas
  11. I've noticed that the HD500x LOVES to bluescreen my computer. It's happened probably half a dozen times now. Has anyone else had this happen? Is there any known solution to this? I can post error logs and stuff when I get home if anyone would like to see them. I got the thing to record with...if it keeps this up, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. It sounds great and being able to set it all up with a program on the computer is SO much better than sitting there twirling knobs for hours on end...as fun as that is sometimes.
  12. Hello everyone! I have my UX1 for a while now but I have some problems for a year now I think. The hardware itself is fine but the drivers/software is making problems. Sometimes when I skype with friends and play a game at the same time, Windows 7 shuts down and I get a blue screen (WhoCrashed Log): l6ux164.sys (L6UX164+0x152DB) Bugcheck code: 0x1000007E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0xFFFFF88005A392DB, 0xFFFFF88004F8CA98, 0xFFFFF88004F8C2F0) Error: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\l6ux164.sys product: GuitarPort company: Line 6 This happened a few times now. (Always the same error) I also have a problem when mini- and maximizing applications (here are games as well the best example) When I do this i hear loud white noise coming through my headphones for like 1 to 2 seconds. This is really annoying and I think it is also a problem with the driver(s). And a very few times it seems like the windows audio server crashes (by doing nothing special) and there is not coming any sound through the ux at all. 13. Hello, sorry for my poor English, it's not my native language. I have Core2Duo, 4GB RAM, Windows 8 x64, latest drivers, no USB hubs etc... and Core i5, 8GB RAM, Windows 8, x64 (notebook) and both have the same problem. USB link hangs periodically, sound stops, media players freezing (but ASIO driver still works!). If i replug the cable, windows device manager detect hd500 but device state is "The drivers for this device are not installed", only restart helps. It happens only when i use Google Chrome (or any other browser) and watching online video. This problem is not observed with other audio interfaces or built-in audio. I tried earlier versions of Adobe Flash and Line6 Drivers - this does not work. Problem can be solved only by removing Adobe Flash Player and disabling built-in player in Chrome, but it is not a good solution. Any ideas? Thx UPD: the problem has returned. Still no sound loss in video games and other software (ASIO driver works fine even after Windows Audio hangs), but in the web browsers it is still there, when playing online video or audio (now in HTML5 mode).
  14. There is a known compatibility issue with current Line 6 drivers and the AMD USB Filter driver that comes preinstalled on several AMD computers including HP and Compaq. This issue materializes in the form of constant blue screens when connecting a Line 6 device via USB to these computers. Uninstalling this USB Filter driver will resolve this issue. Note: If you have an AMD PC with a different brand of video card or do not have ATI Catalyst installed and are still experiencing blue screens when you connect a Line 6 device you can manually check for the driver in your Windows system directory. If the driver is installed, it can usually be found at this location: C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\usbfilter.sys Also, we have seen users fix this issue by updating drivers for their video cards. Please make sure that drivers are up to date for all audio and video devices attached to your system. Such devices include: Video Cards PCI Based internal sound cards USB and Firewire audio Interfaces from other manufactures Web Cams Video Cameras that connect via USB and Firewire Digital Cameras and DSLR cameras that connect via USB and Firewire USB Microphones and Turntables Who Crashed is a useful and easy to use tool that can help you identify which drivers or devices are responsible for blue screens on Windows computers. Download it at http://www.resplendence.com/whocrashed
