  1. Recently, I upgraded to a L6 Helix, two M-Audio speaker monitors, and the Clarett+ 4pre audio interface. My issue is how to connect what I have to get the most out of it. This setup isn't for gigs, it's for home recording. 1.-- I have a spdif cable connected from the output of the helix to the "optical in" of the clarett+. It's a "cinnamon" toslink optical cable. I have two more "digital" livewire spdif cables. I see there is an extra spdif "in" and "out" on the back of the Clarett audio interface, besides the optical in. On the Helix, the spdif output is connected to the clarett optical in, but the input is available. How many spdif cables should I connect? How should they be connected? Also, I have xlr to 1/4 cables--the music store said I would still need these even with Spdif input and output. Do I need to use two xlr - 1/4 cables in addition to spdif (Helix xlr outputs to Clarett audio interface 1/4 line inputs)? Should I not use both spdif and xlr together? 2.-- Both the Clarett+ audio interface and the Helix use usb interfaces to connect to a computer. Clarett uses a mini usb, and Helix uses a more traditional (looking) usb. I was told to either use the Helix usb or both, and they leaned toward both being preferable. Which is the best configuration? 3.-- I feel novice as hell asking this, but should I plug my instrument (guitar, in this case) into the Clarett AI or the Helix? If I want distortion, do I have to plug it into the Helix? Appreciate the help ~Ven
  2. Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum and joined just after buying a jtv-69 used. It came with a battery and a charger, but no digital interface in the case. So my question is: what exactly is needed in order to connect it to my macbook and eventually to workbench hd? will a regular ethernet cable work? do I have to use the line6 cable? even on that cable, it's written that it's meant for digital connection to a PodXT and the like - so I'm not sure that this is meant to be used to connect the guitar to a computer. Maybe it's mentioned somewhere but I honestly could not find the complete info. is the "DVI" the cable itself? or some kind of a converter/adapter? assuming I have the line6 cable, does it connect to a usb or the ethernet port? how does this chain look exactly? If you could help a newbie I would be very grateful!
  3. Hello everyone, I just had my brand new Helix pedalboard and I'd like to plug it in my Mesa Boogie Mark V. What's the best method: connecting only through the poweramps/ using the Boogie preamp too? In fact, i'm looking to stop using my mesa footswitch. indeed, i found the helix direct sound a bit cold and i'm telling me passing through my tube amp should warm up this! Thank you all for your answers in advance Ek https://benjaminsavariau.wixsite.com/officiel
  4. Hi all, I am a noobie joobie here so please be kind and thank you in advance for reading this thread. I am thinking about buying the Helix as a replacement for my pedalboard, I have a Marshall JVM410hjs which I love the tone of and play live with a V30 loaded 4x12. The back connections to the JVM are quite versatile and not only have a programmable serial FX loop but also a power amp INSERT, IN and OUT. I want to run the Helix as the main control (forget channel switching for now) and have Fx pre and post preamp via 4 cable method. Is there a way I can utilize the fx loop and the power amp insert to run preamps from the Helix through the power amp insert (obviously minus cab models) and post fx through the loop. Basically making the preamp on the Marshall JVM another 'preamp' in the Helix? Footswitched in via the loop. So all Helix preamp models go through power amp Insert but by using the loop i can use my Marshall's preamp as an added preamp and having the Fx through it? Maybe I'm thinking backwards here and there is an easier way i.e. normal 4 cable method, just wondered if there was any benefit of running it this way, or maybe using the power amp IN will negate the loop. appreciate all your thoughts and feedback. Thank you for listening.
  5. I'm going to connect my POD HD500 to my Laney Lionheart combo L120T-112. I found this article: http://amplifya.com/setting-up-your-tube-amp-with-a-pod-hd500/ and it references a Line 6 primer on the subject which is supposed to be found here: http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-2523. This link is broken. I suppose Line6 have forgotten to update it when they renewed their site. But as the article recommends it I would love to have a look! Where can I find it? I'm aware of several videos on YouTube on the subject, but anyway ...
  6. Unable to connect Samsung S5 to amplifi FX100,
  7. Need some help, don't know much about this, just purchased a spider valve hd100 that I want to connect with a line 6 cabinet 4x12, 150 watts per side, 8ohms, can I do this or do I need another cabinet?
  8. I am currently attempting to properly connect my Edirol MA10D Powered Speaker Monitors to my Line 6 UX2 toneport. For now I have it hooked up from the headphone jack of the UX2 device (1/8 inch cable with 1/4 adapter), to the line inputs behind the speaker monitor (other end of cable splits into left and right RCA jacks seen in photo: http://www.sweetwater.com/images/closeup/750-ma10d_img_rear.jpg). The problem is I am concerned this is not the optimal way to connect my speakers. I am also concerned this will cause latency when recording and with playback. I tried plugging the cable into one of the "Analog outputs" found on the back of the UX2, but the sound quality isn't nearly as good and the volume is not as loud. What is the correct way to connect my make/model speakers to the Line6 US2 toneport? Maybe go from left and right RCA line inputs to both Analog outputs??? Thank you.
