  1. Hi. I always use GearBox for edition on POD X3 PRO, it was so simple for moving presets from places to places, interchange them and copying, editing, save and restore. But now with the newest driver 7.3.6. GearBox & PODX3PRO won't never work together. I've read on the website that GearBox is no longer available. Can't believe that, it is the best app. for me. Have you explanations, or everything else to replace this app. I try to go back with an old driver but I can't do... Hope you can help me, or Line6 please to update GearBox. Greg.
  2. Ola preciso baixa o gearbox porem aparece o seguinte erro no site. " At this time, there is no software available that matches your selection."
  3. Good afternoon! I am the proud owner of POD X3 Live, but the GearBox drivers don't work on macOS High Sierra 10.13.6. what should I do? Yours sincerely, Fedor.
  4. I have a TonePort UX-1 that I've used for years with Ableton Live. The software was Gearbox. I recently tried to set up my system and realized that Gearbox is discontinued. Is there another free alternative that will work with the UX-1?
  5. Finally installed gearbox on High Sierra... And it's working 100% Here's what I did. Download Gearbox 3.72 DMG Double click on the DMG package VIEW PACKAGE CONTENTS by: Right clicking on the Package Icon Left clicking 'View Package Contents' Double Click on Contents Double Click on Packages FOR EACH PACKAGE: Right Click the package and Select open. This will run the installer for the individual package Some packages may not install properly, but don't worry... NOW CHECK THAT EACH PACKAGE INSTALLED CORRECTLY For each Package: Right Click and view package contents (see above) Navigate to the folder /Content/Resources/english.lprog/ Double click on the file the ends with .info This should open as a text file. In the text file will be information about where the contents of the package were supposed to be installed. Make a note of the location Navigate to the folder /Content/Resources/ and double click on the .gz file Copy the extracted file Navigate to the target location you made a note of above If the file isn't there, paste it to that location Reboot the machine Open Monkey, and get and the latest driver. After you install the latest driver, make sure Monkey can see your POD. Open System Preferences: Under Security and Privacy General tab, if there is an exception for the line 6 package, click to allow it Make sure the Line 6 Audio Midi Tab is also there Now you should be good to go... The biggest problem I had initially was Gearbox saying that the driver for the X3 was incompatible or something like that... It turns out that the Gearbox uses 2 drivers... The first is the MIDI driver, which its happy to use the latest and greatest downloaded via Monkey. The second is the Audio Driver... The Audio driver was one of the things that didn't install properly when I installed each package... Someone else may want to make a more concise set of instructions... I spent a while messing with this... The really neat thing though are the .info files because they tell you what is supposed to be installed and where. Oh and if you can't see the Library folder(s) you may need to right click in finder and tell it to let you see it... Or you might have to do something at the Command Prompt... I am pretty sure I enables all of that on my MAC way back, and I can't remember exactly how you do it.
  6. Dear all, unfortunately I can not install the Line 6 Gear Box on my OS X El Capitan. Does someone has some experience on this issue and maybe a solution? Thanks in advance!
  7. Installing Gearbox for POD X3 on OS X 10.12.6 Sierra This process works with the POD X3, I cannot confirm that it will work with any other POD of any other operating system other than OS X 10.12.6, Sierra, although it may. Download: Gearbox 3.72 for OS X from Line 6 Downloads: Select: All Hardware | GearBox | All OS - 1. Run the Line Monkey 1.78 App and insure that your software is up to date, particularly “Flash Memory 2.00” 2. Perform a typical install of Gearbox 3.7.2 3. Navigate to /System/Library/Extensions and remove, rename or relocate the “Line6Audio.kext” file. 4. Replace it with the "Line6AudioSigned.kext" file (Linked Below), or extract the file yourself from the Drivers 7.6.8 download. Select: POD X3 | All Software | All OS - Line6AudioSigned.kext.zip Please share your results, so others might benefit from your experience.

  10. Like its predecessors, Windows 10 has a compatibility mode to allow users to run older programs written back when previous versions of Windows were the newest operating system. Right click on the app. Select "Properties". Click the Compatibility tab. Under the banner, a check box will appear next to the text "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" with the options in a drop down menu. The various Windows operating systems will appear, depending on the app. A more involved option is to install a virtual version of the old operating system of your choice ("virtual machine" or "VM") on your computer. This is different than dual-booting a computer, where the user divides/partitions the space on a single hard drive and installs a different operating system on each section, allowing the user to choose which OS is booted when the computer is powered on. The advantage with VM is the ability to run a program in the operating system that it was designed for in the first place. Windows 10 is compatible with Microsoft Virtual PC, a virtualization software that allows Windows users to run multiple versions of Windows, all the way back to Windows XP. This is a free download from the Microsoft Download Center. Microsoft provided a free copy of Windows XP to run in Windows 7 Pro. Pro versions of Windows 8.1 include Hyper-V to host alternative operating systems. Otherwise, Oracle's (formerly Sun's) VirtualBox and VMWare are some of the more common options available and are accessible for Windows, Mac and Linux users. Mac users can also use Boot Camp and Parallels to access alternate OS versions.
  11. Hi trying to install latest gearbox to my mac which is running Mojave but does not appear to be compatible? any workarounds for this...
  12. This release of Gearbox Standalone adds support for Windows 7 and Mac OSX 10.6. GearBox Plug-In Support does not apply, please see the following knowledge base article for more details: Gearbox Plug-in Effect: Discontinued New features/changes/fixes in this release: The currently released drivers and Line 6 Monkey with Windows 7 and Snow Leopard support are bundled with this GearBox package. A minor bug which could cause the tonedirect volume to be set to 0 with some patches was fixed. You can download the latest Gearbox release at: http://line6.com/software/ System Requirements: WINDOWS® Pentium® 4, 1.2GHz or better (2.5Ghz or higher recommended) Windows® XP® (with SP2 or better) or Windows® Vista® (32 bit and 64 bit versions are supported) 512MB RAM minimum (1GB or more recommended) 1GB free HD space minimum (10GB or more recommended for recording) USB 1.1 or 2.0 port on computer for connecting Line 6 hardware (USB 2.0 port is required for TonePort UX8 and POD X3 family devices) Internet connection required for activation (once activated, Internet connection is not required, except for access to optional Guitar Port Online membership service). Host application that supports RTAS* or VST Plug-ins (for optional GearBox RTAS/VST Plug-In) MACINTOSH® Intel® or Power PC® based G4 1.5GHz or better (G4 1.67 or better recommended) OS X 10.4 or better 512MB RAM minimum (1GB or more recommended) 1GB free HD space minimum (10GB or more recommended for recording) USB 1.1 or 2.0 port on computer for connecting Line 6 hardware (USB 2.0 port is required for TonePort UX8 and POD X3 family devices) Internet connection required for activation (once activated, Internet connection is not required, except for access to optional Guitar Port Online membership service). Host application that supports RTAS* or AU Plug-ins (for optional GearBox RTAS/AU Plug-In) Known Issues: Master and Record section controls of GearBox app stay active in Tuner mode. They will have no audible effect in Tuner mode, but the application will re-sync all parameters when exiting Tuner mode. GearBox will not always save the correct amp model and/or settings when transferring to an X3 unit. The work-around at this point is to edit a parameter (i.e. move the volume knob up and then back to the original position), and then the tone will store/transfer correctly. GearBox Player will not playback .m4a files. You will need to convert them into .mp3 files. Changing Variax models during ‘Tone Transfer’™ with GearBox can cause MIDI device timeout error- please allow Tone Transfer to complete before changing Variax models. GearBox vocal presets default POD X3 input to guitar instead of mic due to them being created prior to POD X3 hardware - the input can be changed once the tone is loaded. GearBox application does not prompt save on application exit - users must remember to save changed tones before exiting the application. GearBox application defaults to Variax Electric panel. If an acoustic or bass is connected, please select the proper Variax type manually to sync software to the attached Variax. Rapid switching of Variax via 5 way selector switch on the guitar can cause the application to fall out of sync with the currently selected Variax model. Tones can get out of sync between POD X3 and Gearbox when doing special case tone selection. This includes tone swap, Lock Tone loading, and choosing to only load Tone 1 or Tone 2 of a patch from the X3 hardware. Please use the GearBox software to choose tones, or double click a different tone in the editor to resync the app and hardware. Gearbox reverts back to American Punk preset upon new launch if last tone is not saved before closing the application. Mac® OS X Exclusive Issues Typing in GuitarPort Online text fields causes system alert sounds. Player cannot open mono audio files. Drive knob redraw in GearBox can be sluggish when controlling Drive from X3 hardware. Turning the knob in GearBox software does not result in sluggish response, only from hardware.
  13. A jolly good day day to anyone who may read this. Been making demos with my UX1 and an electroacoustic guitar for quite some time using GearBox. Now that I happened to start using a Mac, I just cannot fathom an alternative that would have acoustic amps (can be something reaaaaally basic). YES, I tried googling and since this has to be quite a popular thing, I must be doing it in a wrong way, for the last two days yielded literally no results for me. Sincerely yours, Steve
  14. TonePort UX8 Frequently Asked Questions Q: Is TonePort UX8 an audio interface or software? Does it record? A: TonePort UX8 is a USB audio interface. Every TonePort audio interface works with the included GearBox modeling software as an integrated hardware/software system. The TonePort device gets audio signals into your computer and GearBox software makes everything you record sound amazing. TonePort UX8 is a unique integration of professional hardware and amp and effects modeling software. Designed with high quality electrical components and a rugged exterior, TonePort UX8 provides a wide dynamic range and an exceedingly low noise floor. The UX8, like every TonePort device, works together with the included GearBox software as an integrated hardware/software system, making everything you record sound amazing. Additionally, TonePort UX8 features Line 6's exclusive ToneDirect Monitoring, which lets you hear your GearBox-processed signal instantaneously, providing unmatched responsiveness while you record. Q: What is ToneDirect monitoring? A: ToneDirect monitoring allows you to monitor a fully processed signal with extremely low latency, regardless of the buffer size of your recording application. This means that there is an incredibly small delay between when you play a note and when you actually hear the sound from your speakers. This is unusual among audio interfaces because with other more traditional monitoring solutions, you either have to listen to processed audio with significant latency, often such that it is hard to play along with what you are recording or listen to a signal with no processing. It's uninspiring to say the least to hear completely dry electric guitar with no amp, cab, or effect processing. Q: What is GearBox? A: GearBox is the standalone software application that works with your TonePort audio interface, providing everything you need to record professional sounding tracks. GearBox contains models of vintage and modern amps, speaker cabinets, stompbox and studio effects for guitar, bass and vocals and can be applied while recording to any pair of inputs. Q: Can I apply Gearbox effects to all 8 inputs at once? A: Yes, using the Gearbox plug-in that is included with the UX8. Q: Will Gearbox be able to record at 96K? A: The UX8 driver can process audio at 96K, but Gearbox operates at 48K. Gearbox converts the 96k signal from the UX8 driver, converts it to 48k, processes it, then sends the signal to the UX8 driver, which then converts the signal to 96k. Q: Can I use TonePort UX8 without the GearBox software? A: Yes, you can use the TonePort hardware without GearBox software. Q: Can you re-amp with UX8? A: Not the same way you can with a PODxt, but you can via the GearBox Plug-In. The method for re-amping with a PODxt is pointed out in Knowledge Base document 3940. Q: What is GearBox Plug-In? A: GearBox Plug-In is a VST, AU and RTAS plug-in, providing the same models as the standalone application and additional flexibility when mixing and mastering. Q: Is the GearBox Plug-In included with TonePort UX8? A: Yes, it is. Q: Are TonePort UX8 and GearBox Intel Mac compatible? A: Yes, they are. Q: What recording software can I use with TonePort UX8? A: Every TonePort supports the ASIO standard on Windows and Core Audio on the Macintosh and should work well with any recording application that supports one of these protocols. The UX8 is designed to work with most major applications such as ProTools, Logic, Cubase, Nuendo, Sonar and Ableton Live. Q: Can I use TonePort UX8 and GearBox processing as a front end for Pro Tools? A: Yes, if your Pro Tools® hardware interface has a S/PDIF input you can run the stereo S/PDIF output of your TonePort UX8 directly into your Pro Tools hardware, complete with ToneDirectâ„¢ monitoring and GearBox processing. You can also utilize the Pro Tools compatible RTAS-format GearBox Plug-In for mixing and mastering. Q: Is RiffWorks 2 Line 6 Edition compatible with TonePort UX8? A: No, RiffWorks Line 6 and Riffworks 2 Line 6 Edition are not compatible with the UX8. However, the Standard Edition (full version) of Riffworks available for purchase through the Sonoma WireWorks website: http://www.sonomawireworks.com/. Q: Can I expand the model set of TonePort UX8 with Line 6 Model Packs? A: Yes, you can. They are available as optional Model Pack purchases from our online Store. Q: Can I transfer model packs that I purchased on another Line 6 hardware device over to my new UX8? A: Yes. Once you've purchased a model pack license key, that key remains with your user account indefinitely. You cannot, however have two or more different registered hardware devices running the same model pack simultaneously. Only one hardware device can have the model pack installed on it at any given time. Q: Do the gain controls on the front panel control the line input jacks on the back of the unit? A: The gain controls the input level of the XLR inputs, not the instrument cable inputs (as these are assuming line level and most instruments will have their own level control). Q: What do the VU meters do on TonePort UX8? A: The GearBox application allows you to assign the signal that is monitored by the VU meters to various audio sources: including input, record send, output and monitor levels. Q: How accurate are the VU meters on the UX8 in relation to the meters in the software? A: Very accurate, with the smallest of variance between Gearbox and the physical meters. Q: What will happen if my signal clips the unbalanced analog input on the UX8? A: The clipping will be a "natural clipping". The cure is to lower the incoming signal at the source. Q: How many Instruments/Mics can I record at one time? Since you are monitoring directly out of the UX8, am I going to experience any latency when recording all 8 inputs? A: 8 inputs can be recorded at any given time. Outputs 1 & 2 are monitored via ToneDirect, with the remaining outputs monitored from the hardware at near zero latency. Q: Can the phantom power from the UX8 damage my dynamic mic? A: No, it will not. Q: What is the signal to noise ratio on the analog inputs? A: The UX8 has an input signal to noise ratio of .005% THD, with a dynamic range of 111 dB. Q: What do flashing lights on the unit mean? A: The LED status indicators (Main Mute and Main Clip LEDs provide secondary functions in their ability to indicate the connection status of USB and S/PDIF) as follows: No USB connection: The main clip LEDs alternate steadily between left and right, about once every second. The USB cable may be unplugged or the UX8 driver may not be installed on your computer. No S/PDIF clock sync: The Mute LED blinks 3 times rapidly about once every second when the clock mode set to S/PDIF, and no external clock is present. Q: What are the dimensions and weight of the UX8? A: The UX8 is a standard two-unit rack space module, with dimensions of 17"w x 7"d (8" with knobs) x 3.5"h. The shipping weight is 11.6 lbs. Known Issues: An incompatibility for systems running on Intel ICH10 USB Chipsets; UX8 will hang the user's computer system. The solution for this is to use a PCI USB 2.0 interface card to connect UX8. Record buss mis-routing of UX8 in Gearbox when recording into DAW Gearbox is remembering POD Farm 1 and 2 Record send settings if PF (1 or 2) was used before Gearbox program. Workaround is to reset the Record Send settings that were made in POD Farm 1 or 2, or to reboot the computer.
  15. Hi. My Toneport ux2 won't connect to gearbox on my mac... Is this simply because LIne6 haven't released the macOS Sierra version of Gearbox? If so does anyone know when this will be released? Cheers
  16. Hey guys, So I was having the problem of installing gearbox on my new macbook pro 2012 on MacOS Sierra. Unfortunately I didn't find much of a solution here but I figured it out and I thought I'd share my solution. My Toneport GX now works with my mac and audio seems to work fine. Installing gearbox So if you run the master installer (.mpkg) you'll quickly see that you can't choose your hard drive because it's not OS X, but MacOS. Instead you can right click on the .mpkg file when you first open the installer and click on "Show Package Contents". Then go to Contents > Packages. Now you'll see the directory containing the individual packages. Be sure to click keep after running each package when it prompts you to move the .dmg to the trash. Install all of the packages except for the Driver Uninstaller. I don't know if the order you do this in matters but I just went for drivers, driver prefs, gearbox, plugins, line6 monkey then frameworks. You will likely have to keep security settings open to authorise running each individual package but it's a small inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. after you've installed the packages test to see if GearBox is working. Installing Drivers Go to the software download page and select your_device_name > Drivers > Mac OS X and download the driver. I didn't have any issues installing this one the typical way of just running the package. After installing the driver everything worked like a charm when I opened GearBox. Note The only shortcoming I noticed was that every time I open GearBox it gives me the first-time prompts even when I hit "Never show this again" and it opens up the documentation but I don't lose my custom tones or anything.
  17. Hi ANY help would be greatly appreciated as Im at the pinnacle of FRUSTRATION!!!!! I have a new (old) iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) Sierra OS 10 12 6 trying to sync up gear box to access tones on my POD X 3 Live tried individually opening the gearbox DMG- seemingly all is well until I launch GEarbox app I get messages such as, incompatible driver, ignoring pod x 3 live this device has an incompatible driver installed and the like in the line6 monkey app it says everything is up to date - the drivers, the flashware etc ... also got this "error opening midi ports code 80000005 unimplemented function called - " and there are NO MIDI devices in !!! Is anybody else having this problem ? is there a solution? I really love my x 3 live but losing hope on it now and thinking about using it as a boat anchor! Please help if you can Thx so much BE blessed Joe

  19. Hi, I have not used my UX2 for a while and the Gearbox software does not work any more. I run a Macbook Pro with macOS Sierra 10.12.6. Does Pod Farm replace Gearbox? Can I use Pod Farm to play backing tracks and does it have the half speed feature like Gearbox. I'm afraid I'm not very savvy about this stuff. I looked for the latest version of Gearbox and it was from back in 2010. Any help you can provide is appreciated.
  20. HI, I have a POD X3 (Bean not live) and cannot install gearbox on my MacBook Pro (mid 2009) with OS X El Capitan. The POD is working ok with Pod farm and the Monkey recognize the unit ok... When I try to install gearbox all goes fine until the gearbox tells me that there is no valid drive. I can see from the Gearbox installation pop-up window my C drive with a exclamation mark (!) on it. Is POD X3 product still being supported by LIne6? Thanks.
  21. Hi all. I'm new to these forums and have a very frustrating issue... I play Bass guitar I use it a simple GX interface for headphone jamming/learning to my favorite songs in private while the wife sleeps etc... I have GearBox, PodFarm2, Monkey and was running a UX-1 and am now running a GX interface. Something happened when I went to the newest downloads from GearBox, Toneport and Monkey. Now my volume is extremely low, (like tuning mode) and I cannot figure out how to get it higher. I also lost all my user-made tones. My previous UX-1 would cut out to 1/2 vol when turned all the way to 10, so backing off to 8 somehow boosted it and gave me the most volume. Still very low. Thought there was a problem so I bought a simple GX and the SAME THING is happening. :( Can anyone help? I'm chained with a Gate, Vol pedal, and compression. That's it! What the heck is going on? Thanks!
  22. HI, There is some way to install the GEARBOX in the Sierra macOS, since in the site the last update does not contemplate the Sierra! Thanks. Nicastro.
  23. Hi, I have been using my old ux-1 to record with my windows notebook using Reason software but recently have been checking out apple garageband v10.1.3 and wanted to try recording my guitar using the ux-1 but with no luck. I have successfully downloaded and installed line6 monkey and gearbox (not sure I need it?) onto my macbook, and the monkey says my ux1 is all updated, but I still cannot get any sound with garageband, whether or not I turn on gearbox. My guitar is plugged into the ux1 and I am listening with headphones in the phones jack on the ux1 and I have selected in garageband preferences>audio the ux1 as both input and output and all other possible combinations yet cannot get any sound when I play the guitar. I also cannot get any sound just using the gearbox with my macbook. Garageband is not launched, but the gearbox is, and the ux1 is plugged in, but I cannot hear myself play guitar, again using headphones. This works with my windows notebook. Any ideas?
  24. Picked up an Alesis forge electronic drum kit and I am attempting to use the 2 line outputs (R / L) on the drum set module to connect to the two line inputs on the Toneport UX2 to record into Ableton LE 6 - I believe the issue I am having lies within the settings I am using in Gearbox - looking for some suggestions. When I connect the line outputs from the drum set to the line inputs on the UX2, I can hear everything I want to hear through my monitors and headphones (both directly connected to the UX2), when I have my input in gearbox set to "Line 1 & 2" - but I get no signal on my armed track in Ableton. When I change the gearbox input setting to a single line input (not sure if it's 1 or 2), I do get a signal in Ableton, but it's only on the right or left side - it's not stereo. I want to say that I have tried the "line stereo" input setting in gearbox as well - and I believe it works, but it gives me a completely mono signal which doesnt make sense to me. Wondering if there is step I am missing when trying to use the "line 1 and 2" input setting in gearbox that is stopping Ableton from picking up a signal. Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks!
  25. I have An Apple MacBook Pro i7, running El Captain 10.11.6. I recently upgraded to El Captain and did not have any issues using GearBox with Yosemite. If I launch GearBox without my TonePort UX2 plugged into the USB, GearBox will start up just fine but when I plug the USB in for my UX2 I get the pinwheel of death. If I launch GearBox and have my UX2 plugged in before i launch, it gets stuck on "Initializing DSP" I downloaded POD Farm 2 and it woks but only in a trial capacity as I have not purchased the program, but it does works with Garageband. I can launch Garage Band and use my TonePort and the effects Garage Band has pre installed. All my drivers are up to date according to Monkey. It all seems to revolve around GearBox. Any known solutions to this?
