  1. Hi There, I recently updated my Helix Lt software to the latest patch, this installed with no issues and my backup was downloaded onto the helix - no issues and I packed to go the my gig. I set up and turned on my Helix and it began rebuilding the database - I'm not sure why? When this had finished, I found it had managed to load all my presets correctly but the 'Cab block' was missing from each preset. Does anyone have any advice on this? Is the database rebuild standard after a software update? Thank you so much in advance and take care all
  2. I have my first gig coming up since I've had the Helix and I would like to start setting up some patches. I had an HF Effects previously and am confident about setting up 4CM with my amp, but I would like to set up a seperate DI output to the PA that also has an amp and cab sim in that stream. I think I know how to do it but any tips or outright rules and advice would be appreciated. I don't have a PA to test this on at the moment but we will have one for rehearsals in a few weeks so I would like to have this roughly sorted before then. I have searched the forums but seems difficult to find, for me anyway. Thank you!
  3. Hi! I'm from the Philippines and the gigging scenario is usually like this. Most of the time clubs here would have a decently powered guitar amp (50-100w) but not all clubs mike the amps so it can sit well in the mix with the vocals, drums, and bass. I use an HD500x. To get more consistent sound both on stage and at the audience I was thinking of sending the PL outs to the onstage guitar amp's FX return, and the XLR outs to the PA. The problem I have though is that if I set up my patches with any of the cab sims on, the FOH sound may be good, but the stage sound from the amp would be usually muddy. If I set the output mode to Combo Power amp, I know I would get a good sound on stage but I fear that I would have that harsh DI no cab sim sound coming out of the PA. So I guess my questions boil down to the following: 1. Do the XLR outs have some sort of "always on" compensation / speaker sim even if the active patch has the cab sim turned off? 2. If not, then I would have to turn on cab sim so that the HD500x's XLR PA feed would sound right, correct? How do I now make the stage amp sound good in this set up since the cab sim already colors the sound? Thank you MH
  4. Hi there, this is what I ideally want at a live gig with my 8 piece band: My guitar goes into the Helix. Connect Helix with Line 6 Link cable to L2T (used as my floor monitor). Connect Helix with two XLR's to FOH-PA. Feed the stage-mix of the rest of the band into my L2T. When I use the volume knob on the Helix, I just want to change the volume of my guitar on the L2T and let the FOH-sound (the 2 XLR-out's) to be unchanged (and let the PA-guy handle that) And I want to be able to change the volume of the mix of the rest of the band on the L2T (less dependant on the stage mix guy). I know the first 4 bullets are possible. What about bullets 5 and 6? Thanks!
  5. Is there any way to transfer a tone in pod farm to a hardware pod or is there a reliable way to bring your laptop and ux1 to a gig and use pod farm with long cables? Does anyone here have any experience with this?
  6. The new AMPLIFi amps seem great for practice or studio use, but I can't see them being used to play live very easily. With a limit of only 4 presets stored in the amp at any time it seems like playing live with it would be difficult and nerve racking. The iOS App is great, but there is some latency when using it to switch presets so I don't think it could be used very easily on stage. I'm surprised that the AMPLIFi amps don't have preset banks like other Line 6 amps. It would be nice if you could store at least 9 banks with 4 presets each to make using the amp live easier. Maybe in AMPLFIi2.
  7. Hey fellas, I've had a HD500X ever since they came out, and I love it. If you have an older model POD, you should seriously consider the upgrade. Anyway I have a few questions, hopefully some of you guys can help me out here.. Recording: I have a Macbook and I'm using an old version of Garageband from like, '09. I plugged in my acoustic to record Here Comes The Sun, and post it on Facebook. WOW! It sounded fantastic! Everyone asked me to do another cover and so I thought, ah, what the heck? Sure thing... I plugged in my LP, and switched it over to the assigned switches and played without doing a sound check. (Stupid) Five minutes later I'm playing it back, and it sounds like absolute crap! I was in shock compared to the acoustic! It is majorly distorted! Even on a clean assign, with or without an amp model. Long story long, what recording software are you guys using? I'd like to keep it under $150, and it has to be Mac compatible. (This is why I hate you, Mac) I have 2gb of Ram so any older versions of Logic, are kind of out of the question. (Logic demands to much for my old hunk of junk)... Second thing: I'm planning on doing a small little guitar session at my school. Play along with the art teacher who plays piano and do a cover of, Let It Be. Our school stage has imbedded XLR inputs on the stage, and then that runs straight to the sound system amplifier, then to the speakers. Now, I'm no technical advance kind of guy when it comes to stuff like this. It's all new to me. Even though I know computers like the back of my hand. I see on the back of the 500X that it's got two, what appears to be XLR, even though it says Balanced Left and Right. What I'm trying to do is just get the sound from my pod straight to those XLR inputs in the stage. Any ideas of what cable I would need? I feel like a 1/4 inch to an XLR would work, but what would those balanced be used for? (future reference) Thanks Guys.
