  1. So recently purchased my AT2035 and Line 6 UX2. While I have some knowledge of audio interfaces, I find myself a bit lost when it comes to my microphone's specific issue. I have found that the microphone levels are very low and even with a volume boost it sounds rather low quality. I have tested my mic with no presets and it sounds very quiet reaching only roughly around -25 db. I have also tested various presets and have found using the default studio vocal preset to be the best; a bit louder, but still very quiet. It may also be important to note that the Mic 1/L Gain is in this position: Below I have posted screenshots of my UX2 audio interface and have given a small audio sample. The first half of the audio file is with no pre-amps or effects added and the second half contains the default studio vocal preset. I still believe the mic to be too quiet and am at a loss as to what is causing this. Any help is greatly appreciated! Mic.mp3
  2. Hello! I purchased the Helix a week ago, after using the POD HD500 for the last 7 years. I'm having a ton of fun exploring the capabilities of the unit but seem to be struggling in one particular area. I'm experiencing some over-saturation in the low end when going for medium to high-gain lead tones, and I've explored the forums here and elsewhere to get ideas. I've already tried low cuts (typically I cut at ~120k)... and generally lowering the bass in the amp models too, to around 2 or 3. It could be me, or something in the way my Helix is generally setup. As a reference point, I'm going for a classic early Van Halen tone (I particularly enjoy his tones on the second album, and Fair Warning). Given my experience with the HD500, I'm used to tweaking the sag and bias controls, and understand that cranking them (while great for more sustain), can make the low end a bit too smooth (and loss of any crisp edge). However, I didn't have the same issue with the HD500. I could still relatively crank sag and bias (usually around 65-80%) and still retain lower string note clarity with my bridge humbucker. Now, the low end on the high gain patches become way too smooth and lose any crisp edge... it almost sounds as if I'm using a neck pickup instead (well not quite, but approaching that). High strings still cut through the mix though. I am happy to share some sound clips, if that helps. Also, I'm starting to feel that maybe others don't mind that type of tone... most of the YouTube videos that I have watched to get ideas from, they also tend to be okay with a relatively flat sounding lead guitar tone, with little bite. Jason Sadites is a great example, and I don't mean this to be a derogatory statement, as he is a fantastic player and he receives a ton of praise from many Helix owners (I also love that he has committed so much time to sharing his experiences and ideas). I've downloaded all of his patches from the CustomTone website (https://line6.com/customtone/profile/jaysadites/) and they just don't cut through the mix... neither the lows, mids or highs. I can hear that in his YouTube videos too - just kind of sounds too flat to me. Anyways, I appreciate any comments or recommendations!
  3. Hi all. I'm new to these forums and have a very frustrating issue... I play Bass guitar I use it a simple GX interface for headphone jamming/learning to my favorite songs in private while the wife sleeps etc... I have GearBox, PodFarm2, Monkey and was running a UX-1 and am now running a GX interface. Something happened when I went to the newest downloads from GearBox, Toneport and Monkey. Now my volume is extremely low, (like tuning mode) and I cannot figure out how to get it higher. I also lost all my user-made tones. My previous UX-1 would cut out to 1/2 vol when turned all the way to 10, so backing off to 8 somehow boosted it and gave me the most volume. Still very low. Thought there was a problem so I bought a simple GX and the SAME THING is happening. :( Can anyone help? I'm chained with a Gate, Vol pedal, and compression. That's it! What the heck is going on? Thanks!
  4. Hey guys I just started having a problem with my UX1 that I for the life of me cannot figure out. Iv had my UX1 for over a year now, i have never had an issue with it till today, with the snap of a finger its started acting up. I didnt change any settings from what iv been using, its always been updated and whatnot, but today I noticed that my playback while playing seems a little weaker than normal, its very minimal but enough to drive me insane, so once I went to record and listened to the recorded playback I was horrified at the sound. It sounds as if my tone has lost all low end and is nothing but a high pitched fuzz, its very quiet and this is driving me up the wall. Iv tried updating drivers and all that jazz but nothing works. I didnt change any settings with the UX1 or my recording programs. (Use audacity and magix studio) Its almost as if its not getting a good signal but at the same time the real time playback is almost just what its supposed to be like, iv tried different cables and different guitars and nothing. Any help with this is much appreciated, thanks.
  5. Hi. I am currently using a Audio-Technica AT2035 running through a UX2 audio interface connected to my computer through USB and it picks me up, but I am really low. I tried messing around with the settings in POD Farm 2.0, but it didn't make a difference. I tried also to change the settings in the windows sound control panel by changing the microphone volume. Some people suggested checking the microphone boost check box, but when I do, there is no difference. There isn't even a slider to change how much it boosts. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. If you would like to know just how low I am, check out this youtube video I made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGEhOfaHLSI
  6. This is my first post so if I do anything wrong, I'm sorry before hand. I got a PODxt Live from a friend of mine who said I would need it more than him. I've got POD Farm 2 a while ago and used PODxt Live's usb input and processed it through POD Farm to get my tone. Before hand I used a First Act usb cable to record that gave raw guitar sound. I processed that into POD Farm and I got alright results (It had some noise to it but I just bit the bullet on that) but with PODxt Live, when I turn amp, noise gate, eq (basicly everything except for raw guitar) off, it sounds a lot softer and the sound of the clean is "crispier" (like crunchy-ish) and the distortions dont really have much emphasis as they did before hand. I of course googled the problem and spent about 2 hours watching videos and reading forums and manuals but didn't get much or any desired results. I won't say what I found because they are probably just going to make explaining the problem worse but if anyone can explain to me how to possibly fix this issue you would be helping a fellow musician greatly. Thanks again for reading! *P.S. the program I am using is Mixcraft 6 and my OS is Windows 7 (32 bit) if that helps at all
  7. I've been reading about the volume issues with the DT50 212. Too loud, etc. Before I say anything else its the real deal amp. I'm blown away with the HD500 integration. The Solo models are to die for!!!! Here's what I do to deal with volume issues: Each amps output can be set to the expression pedal without using DSP. Watch for how to do this. I've taken my amps/tones and used this technique to lower the overall volume (around a maximum value of 50-60) while keeping the master volume on the high power position (pushed in). Keep the master at about 12 o'clock (or what you like) and use the output settings to level each amp (patch) to each other and to lessen the output. This can be done with dual tones as well, just set both amps to similar parameters, and same expression pedal. Do you lose sound? At 50-60 ... no on most amp models. Some amp models lose slightly, but low volume is merely, usually practice. Is this the perfect fix? Probably not. However, your amp/patches will be leveled, properly loud, and get full use of channel volume and master volume mixes. When playing live a quick touch on the master can work wonders. Let me know how this works out if you try it. His advice (see link above) for wah pedals is spot on too. If its too loud ... move! LOL Happy jamming! bribrew1968

  9. Application Q: What are the presets on the Lowdown 150/175/300pro/400pro? A: The presets are available from the manual download section. If you would like to return your unit to the original presets, please perform a factory reset (see the Lowdown trouble shooting section). Q: Are there any video tutorials I can view to learn more about the Lowdown? A: Please see the Lowdown Movies in the product description page. Q: Is there an editing software that works with the Lowdown amplifier? A: No, there is no editing software for the Lowdown series as there is no way to connect the lowdown amplifier to your computer. Q: Is there a "manual mode" so I can avoid the presets and just use the knobs on the amplifier? A:Yes, one you have selected your preset you want to run in manual mode, hit the preset again and the light will turn off, indicating you are in manual mode. Q: How do I change the tuner's reference frequency on the Lowdown? A: The Lowdown Tuner Reference Frequency cannot be changed - it's 440 all the way. Setup/Connections Q: Is there a direct out on the Lowdown 150/175/300pro/400pro series amplifiers? A: Yes, there are balanced line level XLR outputs on the on the Lowdown 150/175/300pro/400pro. The line level XLR output is not affected by the output volume of the amplifier, and will send a cabinet simulated tone to your mixing console. Q: What if I do not want the cabinet tone but rather a unaffected tone (like a DI Box?) A: If you desire an unaffected bass tone on the Lowdown 150/175/300pro, you will want to go into a DI box and send the DI signal to the mixing console, and have the instrument output of the DI go into the instrument input of the Lowdown amplifier. The Lowdown 400pro does have a ¼” preamp output to send an unaffected tone to a mixer. Q: Can I use a Line 6 controller Lowdown 150/175/300pro/400pro? A: Yes, we recommend using the FBV Shortboard with the Lowdown series. The FBV will work with the Lowdown series (although there will be numerous buttons that have no effect), and the FBV Express will not scroll through the banks. Q: Do the Lowdown 150/175/300pro/400pro amplifiers have an effects loop? A: No, none of the Lowdown 150/175/300pro/400pro amplifiers has an effects loop. Q: Can I connect an external pre-amp (i.e. Line 6 POD unit) to the Lowdown 150/175/300pro/400pro? A: Yes, an external preamp can be connected to the instrument input of the Lowdown, be sure to send an instrument level signal rather than a line level signal to avoid clipping and/or damage to the Lowdown. An external pre-amp can also be run into the MP3 input jack, which would relegate the Lowdown amplifier to a “powered speaker”. Q: Can I connect an external cabinet to a Lowdown 150/175/300pro/400pro? A: There is no external speaker connection on the Lowdown 150,175, or 300pro, but the 400pro has a single 8 ohm minimum Neutrik Speakon connector to connect an exterior cabinet. Q: Does connecting an external cab to the LowDown 400 Pro mute the internal combo speakers? A: No, connecting an external cab DOES NOT mute the internal speakers. So, the combo speakers will produce audio along with the external cabinet speakers. Q: Does the built in head unit of the LD400Pro have the same exact electronics & power output as the separate HD400 head unit (both have the identical preamp & power amp sections)? A: Yes Q: Does the LD400 put out the full 400 watts to its 2 X 10" speakers? A: yes because we chose speakers that create a 4 ohm load internally. Q: Is the 'Extension Speaker Output' on the LD400 in parallel or in series to the 2X10 internal speakers of the unit? A: The extension cabinet is parallel, with an 8 ohm cabinet the amp will output approximately 650 watts. Specifications Q: What's the rated wattage output and speaker size of Lowdown 150/175/300pro/400pro?? LD150: 12"/ 150 Watts LD175: 15" with Horn/175 Watts LD300pro: 15" with Horn/300 Watts LD400pro: 2x10" speakers and high-frequency compression driver/400 Watts Q: What is the impedance of the LD series? A:1 Mohm for passive input, 40 Kohm for active input Q: What brand speakers are used in the 150/175/300pro/400pro? A: Line 6 lowdown speakers are manufactured by Hi-Touch. Q: What are the presets for the Lowdown amps? A: LowDown Preset Chart (Rev A) - English.pdf Registration and Warranty Information Q: What is the warranty on the Lowdown 150/175/300pro/400pro? A: the warranty on the Lowdown series is twelve months from the date of purchase. Q: How do I register the Lowdown? http://line6.com/account/registergear/ Lowdown Amplifier Troubleshooting/Service Q: How do I perform a factory reset on the Lowdown? A: The reset procedure for a Lowdown amplifier is to hold the A button for 5 seconds while powering the amp. Q: My amp seems to be malfunctioning. What can I do as an end user? Line 6 Amp Trouble Shooting Q: Where can I get replacement knobs/logos for my Lowdown amplifier? Line 6 Store Q: Where can I download a Lowdown amplifier manual? Line 6 Manuals
  10. Applications Q: What are the presets on the Lowdown Studio 110 and LD 15 amplifier? A: The Studio 110 and LD 15 have four savable channels directly on the amplifier, which are Clean (Eden model), R&B (Ampeg B15 fliptop model), Rock (Ampeg SVT model), and Grind (Sansamp model). The Studio 110 also has a “synth” option, accessed by pressing the R&B and Rock models simultaneously. The LD15 has a hidden “Brit model” which is accessed by pressing/holding the Clean and R&B model buttons as your turn on the power. The Clean and R&B lights will flash back and forth to indicate that you have changed the Clean model into the Brit model. Q: Is there a list for suggested settings for the LD Studio110 or LD15 amplifier? A: No, there is no preset list for the LD 110 or LD15, but you can download the dowdown Preset Chart from the manuals section and experiment with the settings (taking note that there is no amp model or channel volume control) Lowdown Presets Q: Are there any video tutorials I can view to learn more about the Lowdown? A: Please see the Lowdown Movies in the product description page. Lowdown Movies Q: Is there an editing software that works with the Lowdown amplifier? A: No, there is no editing software for the Lowdown series as there is no way to connect the lowdown amplifier to your computer. Q: Is there a "manual mode" for a LD Studio110 or LD15 like on the other LD series amplifiers? A: No, there is no manual mode for the LD Studio110 for the LD15. Q: How do I change the tuner's reference frequency on the Lowdown? A: The Lowdown Tuner Reference Frequency cannot be changed - it's 440 all the way. Setup/Connections Q: Is there a direct out on the Lowdown 110 or LD 15 amplifier? A: Yes, there are balanced line level XLR and unbalanced 1/4" outputs on the Lowdown 110, both of which output processed tone. The LD-15 has an unbalanced ¼” output which will output processed tone (which doubles as a headphone output). The XLR output of the Studio 110 is not affected by the output volume of the amplifier, and will send a cabinet simulated tone to your mixing console. The unbalanced ¼” output of the Studio 110 and LD15 is affected by the master volume setting, so keep this in mind when using this as a direct recording connection. Q: What if I do not want the cabinet tone but rather a unaffected tone (like a DI Box to go to the PA?) A: If you desire an unaffected bass tone in addition to the cabinet simulated tone, you will want to go into a DI box and send the DI signal to the mixing console. Be sure to have the instrument output of the DI go into the instrument input of the Lowdown amplifier to get sound from the Lowdown. Q: Can I use a Line 6 controller with the Lowdown Studio 110 or the LD15? A: No, there is no CAT-5 jack on the Studio 110 or the LD15 for a Line 6 controller. Q: Does the Lowdown Studio 110 or the LD15 have an effects loop? A: No, neither the Lowdown Studio 110 or the LD15 has an effects loop. Q: Can I connect an external pre-amp (i.e. Line 6 POD unit) to the Lowdown Studio 110 or the LD15? A: Yes, an external preamp can be connected to the instrument input of the Lowdown, be sure to send an instrument level signal rather than a line level signal to avoid clipping and/or damage to the Lowdown. An external pre-amp can also be run into the MP3 input jack, which would relegate the Lowdown amplifier to a “powered speaker”. Q: Can I connect an external cabinet to a Lowdown Studio 110 or the LD15? A: No, there are no external speaker connections on the Lowdown combo series Studio 110 or the LD15 Specifications Q: What's the rated wattage output and speaker size of the Lowdown Studio 110 and the LD15?? LD15: 15 watts/ (1) 8” speaker Studio 110: 75 watts/ (1) 10” speaker Registration and Warranty Information Q: What is the warranty on the Lowdown Series? A: the warranty on the Lowdown series is twelve months from the date of purchase. Q: How do I register the Lowdown? http://line6.com/account/registergear/ Troubleshooting/Service Q: How do I perform a factory reset on the Lowdown? A: The reset procedure for a Lowdown amplifier is to hold the Clean button for 5 seconds while powering the amp. Q: My amp seems to be malfunctioning. What can I do as an end user? Line 6 Amp Trouble Shooting Q: I am noticing hiss in the headphones with the Lowdown Studio 110? A: This may not be an issue on all Lowdown Studio 110 amplifiers. Depending on what brand of headphones you are using, as well as what amp model/settings are up, you may or may not hear hiss. Individual preference will determine if the perceived signal/noise ratio is acceptable. Please DO NOT return your Lowdown Studio 110 for a replacement unit if you feel that this is an issue. Our service centers would be happy to fix this issue for you. Keep in mind; this fix requires that one of our technicians perform a custom modification to the headphone amplifier, which requires that we open up your amp. The reason that some users may hear hiss is due to the gain structure design of this amp and a couple of surface mount resisters need to be replaced. Customer Support is unable to guide you through the repair and only our authorized service centers can take care of this fix. NOTE: If a customer opens up their amp and attempts to alter their electronics in any way, they will void your manufacturer’s warranty on their Lowdown Studio 110. Also, keep in mind that the repair may take several weeks based on the specific service center’s turn around time. If the nearest service center is too far from your location, and you need to ship your unit to that service center, Line 6 WILL NOT cover the associated shipping costs If you are aware of the above information and you still wish to have your amp repaired, Line 6 will cover the costs of parts and labor. Please have your receipt ready before you contact a service center. If you cannot find your receipt, please talk to the dealer where the amp was purchased, and request a duplicate receipt.
