Q: My update stopped in the middle of the process? A: During the Pocket POD update using the Line 6 Monkey software on a Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit) machine, the update may stop and will not continue. This may occur on certain USB ports. This issue can be verified if the progress bar stops partway through the update. Note: If the update does stop, the system will not respond to requests to shutdown the computer, even after force quitting monkey. After disconnecting the Pocket POD, the system can be shutdown. The Pocket POD remains in boot mode after this occurs. Reconnecting to Monkey and re-installing the firmware update does recover the Pocket POD. Please make sure to test the Pocket POD on every USB port on your computer while troubleshooting this issue. Completely remove any USB hubs, even if not in use. PocketPOD Presets.pdf
  2. Hello guys, thanks for accepting me. So I tried to read all the older topics to avoid asking again, hower I did not found what is needed. :( So I got pretty simple setup. Diezel Vh4 Miid cable And HX Effects Currently when I am at the Banks 01A to 01D I have managed to program the Amp channels to switch(via Midi) How can I assign stomp possitions in lets say 01A(bank) to switch Chanels via Midi? *When I am in the Stomp mode. I want to assign 1,4,5,6 to switch the 4 head channels(via the midi) ... This Will leave me with 2 free stomps for 2 effects. That's it enough for me, nothing more. Thanks in advance.
  3. Q: What is POD Farm? A: POD Farm is Line 6's new plug-in software platform that will offer POD tone to any DAW. For use with either a Line 6 hardware interface or iLok dongle, POD Farm can easily be used with all the major software recording platforms (such as, Pro Tools, Ableton, Cubase, Nuendo, Garageband and more) and is available in Mac® AU/RTAS®/VST® and Windows® RTAS®/VS® formats. POD Farm iLok users will not be able to run the standalone version of POD Farm software; the iLok allows for VST/AU/RTAS plug-in effect instantiation functionality only. Standalone POD Farm only functions with our TonePort/POD Studio USB devices. Q: Can POD Farm be used with my earlier generation TonePort (GX, UX-1, UX-2, UX-8, Guitarport)? A: Yes. POD Farm will work with all TonePort devices as a plug in (provided that you purchased the optional POD Farm Plug-In License Key and installed into the device using Line 6 Monkey) and can also be used in Stand Alone mode. Note: TonePort GX, UX-1, UX-2 and KB37's did NOT come with a Plug-In license present from the factory. Users who bought these devices will need to purchase a POD Farm Plug-In license to get this functionality! Q: Can POD Farm be used with my POD XT or POD X3 device? A: POD Farm is compatible with our POD XT and X3 devices as a plug in only. It cannot be used as a standalone editor for your POD. Gearbox will remain the primary editor for all POD XT and X3 devices. Q: Can I transfer the free POD Farm plug in I got for being an X3 owner out of my X3? A: No. That upgrade is a factory bit that remains bound to your X3 device. Q: Can I transfer the POD Farm upgrade from the GearBox Plug-In Gold/Silver DI to another device? A: No. That upgrade is a factory bit that remains bound to your Gold/Silver DI device. Q: Can I use the Bass POD XT (or XT Live) as a dongle for POD Farm? A: No, as the Bass POD XT series cannot accept assets or model packs. Q: Is GuitarPort Online compatible with POD Farm? A: Currently, our GuitarPort Online subscription service is not available through the POD Farm software. GPO subscribers must continue to use Gearbox for this service. Q: Can I have Gearbox and POD Farm installed simultaneously on my computer? A: Yes. You can continue to use Gearbox as a plug in or stand alone application if you wish while having POD Farm installed on your system as well. Q: What about my current recording projects that have the Gearbox plug in instantiated on them? Will they still work? A: Absolutely. You can continue to use Gearbox as a plug in if you'd prefer. Your projects will not be harmed. Q: Will my Gearbox tones work with POD Farm? A: Yes. POD Farm will load all of your Gearbox presets just fine. You can continue to use them. Q: How do I save the POD Farm presets when used as a plugin? A: Select the folder next to the preset name, then select "save as" in the drop-down menu and rename the altered tone to whatever you like. Q: Can I use POD Farm on more than one computer? A: Yes. You must run Line 6 Monkey on each computer first in order to authorize that functionality.
  4. Hello all, I don't usually frequent gear forums so I apologise if my forum etiquette is sub standard. I've been really excited about the Helix since the reveal of the device. I've been waiting for you guys to drop a new modern unit since the HD500x. So, I've been nurturing use of a Pod XT for many years now and it has served my playing routine greatly since purchase. No to mention that I've had very little problems with the unit. I hit my tone limit a long time ago. I need more control over the signal chain to be able to really suss my guitar tone out. I'm seriously tempted to take the plunge on the Helix and have the funds to do so. I have my doubts though, especially considering it is such a great deal of money to drop on a pedal. Could I trouble some knowledgable users with some questions? 1) Line 6 edit I think I saw that Line 6 released a "Gear Box" Win/mac user interface for the Helix unit. How is this coming along, is it good quality? I can't find any screen shots at all. Nobody is hailing it as god's gift, if it has been released. I understand the larger display and functionality might completely over-rule the use of something like this. I'm curious as to it's current state of play. 2) Patch latency This is something that's been raised a few times on here. I understand the nature of loading process for patches. As I've dealt with the XT live, I do understand THIS IS modelling. With the XT, there was a noticeable delay in switching patches. It wasn't terrible but it was noticeable. I'd argue it is literally the longest patch latency I'd be willing to put up with. Can anyone clarify if it is an improvement? Some have said the time it takes to load a patch is directly related to the amount of "blocks" you have in your patches. I'm not looking for multiple cabs and amps per patch. The XT had Comp, Gate, EQ, Amp Sim, Cab, Delay, Mod, Reverb. Considering that as a base line. What sort of latency are we looking at as standard? Better or worse? Painfully delayed? 3) Further talking about patches delays. Some have suggested loading everything into one patch and using that? I saw Glen Delaune's, 3 channel amp patch and I wasn't THAT sold on the "method". Surely you can run into instances where both, your clean channel is running and your boost is on? Surely your tone is going to more of a compromise instead of what you actually want to here? 4) Do custom IR's perform better or worse re: quality and patch latency? 5) Spreading blocks over to "Both CPU processors"? How is this actually done? Do you run the amp and cab on a separate line with links between. How effective is this reduction? 6) Direct into a Tube Amp I use a 2x12 Fender Hot Rod Deville. Can anyone elaborate as to how will this pedal plays with standard Tube Amps. I don't need a processed video from Chappers, I've seen it already. You know what I mean. My query is the ability to sculp the sound and fix mushyness. Sustain at volume, deliberate feedback etc. 7) Some people in other posts have suggested using 8 Template <02c ... XXXXX as a base line for your tones, to avoid latency problems. I don't own one yet, so I can't exactly investigate as to what these patch templates have to offer. Can anyone elaborate as to what these templates have to offer and how they work? I know there's a lot going on above regarding my questions. If you'd be so kind as to weigh in where possible, I'm sure others will review this thread to help put minds at ease. Please be as honest, clear and descriptive as possible I know it's a pain... although they're not "Million dollar" questions, they are the "Thousand dollar" questions that I would really appreciate clear answers for. I really appreciete you taking the time to review this thread.
  5. Hello! From what I've researched and tried out at Guitar Center, I believe I am prepared to purchase a POD HD500X! There are just a few questions that I have that I haven't been able to find an answer for by just searching. 1) From my past use of the old TonePort GX w/Gearbox, I used an amp called Line 6 Big Bottom, which was available in the Metal Shop amp pack for $50. When I was looking through the list of amps on the HD500X overview, I noticed it wasn't on there. Does this mean that I either have to buy the Metal Shop pack again, it is renamed or replaced on the 500X, or is just gone? This is important as that amp model gave me my favorite tone (I play progressive metal). 2) When I get this, would I have to play it through an amp or PA speaker? All I have are computer speakers that don't sound too bad. Also I don't own an amplifier (unless you consider a crappy little 15 watt Epiphone amp from my starter kit 8 years ago to be alright to use). 3) As I stated previously, I used to have a TonePort GX. Would Gearbox files (.l6t) be compatible for use with the 500X? I have a few of these files saved on a flash drive that I really liked and would love to use live or in studio. Thanks!
  6. Français Deutsch ** Known Issue: Phantom Power on Inputs 7-12 does not save to scenes or setups. This has been fixed with firmware update version 1.10. ** ****Please be aware that if you are updating from firmware 1.00 directly to 1.20, the update file will state that you are installing version 1.32. This is a typo that will be fixed in the future and it will have no affect on your firmware 1.20 installation or functionality.**** Q: I am unable to connect my iPad to my StageScape with an Apple Airport Express. What gives? A: Be sure to check to that the light on the front of your Airport Express is solid green and NOT blinking amber. If the light on your Airport Express is blinking amber, you probably have to run the Airport Utility to setup and configure your Airport Express. On windows you will have to download this Airport Utility program and install it from the apple downloads page, but if you have a Mac computer, the Airport Utility will already be on your computer in Applications>Utilities>Airport Utility.? Go through the steps to setup your Airport Express in that utility program. Don't worry if the utility prompts you to create a password for your Airport Express, that will only be applicable for creating a network connected to the internet, and will not apply for connection between your iPad and StageScape. Q: When I update the firmware on my StageScape M20d, the mixer still thinks it has the old firmware? A: When updating your firmware on the StageScape M20d, be sure to only have the media drive with the firmware update on it connected to your StageScape. No other media devices should be connected to your mixer. Q: I updated the firmware on my StageScape M20d, and now the StageScape App won't work? A: The firmware on your StageScape M20d and the StageScape App must be the same version. So if you updated the firmware on your mixer, be sure to download the updated App from the Apple App store. Q: Can Setups that were backed up on Firmware 1.10 be opened on mixers that have Firmware 1.00? A: Yes, backed up setups can be restored on older firmware versions of the mixer, however any setups with stereo monitors may cause an error. In this case, re-save the setup without stereo monitors on your firmware version 1.10 and then it will open correctly in older firmware. Q: Is there a maximum length to L6 Link Connections? A: Yes, all L6 Link connections require AES/EBU cables with a maximum 50 foot length. Connecting multiple AES/EBU cables together is not recommended or supported. Q: What is the difference between a Scene and a Setup? A: Scenes are saved as parts of Setups - and if you move to a second setup without saving your current setup, the scenes you made on your first setup may be lost if you do not save the setup prior to navigating to a new setup. It is helpful to think of scenes and setups as... If you are doing a show with 3 performing acts doing 5 songs each. Each performing act should have their own setup with a scene created for each song by that performing act. Following that thought process - you will have 3 setups and each of those 3 setups will contain 5 scenes. The stage pans, effects, levels, and TWEAK settings are saved in your SCENE- but input channels, icons, and channel trims are saved in your SETUP Q: For how long can the StageScape M20d record at a time? Inputs & Main Mix Inputs only Main Mix only Recording times are listed in minutes:seconds. *248:36 is the M20d’s maximum recording time. 2 GB is the maximum file size. M20d will not record if SD card/hard drive has less than 64 MB of free space available. Q: Which USB WiFi products are compatible with the StageScape M20d? A: The EnGenius EUB-9801, Samsung WIS12ABGNX (WIS9ABGN and a WIS10ABGN are NOT compatible), and Linksys AE1000 (AE1200 and AE2500 will NOT work) are compatible with the StageScape M20D. However, they may be discontinued at this time. We recommend using an Apple Airport Express and use Apple's USB to Ethernet adapter (UPC: 885909439560). It is also possible to use the USB to Ethernet adapter and a DHCP enabled WiFi Ethernet router. Q: Which SD cards are compatible with the StageScape M20d? A: Any class 10 SD card will work with the StageScape M20d. Only class 10 SD cards are supported. SDXC cards are supported, as long as they are class 10. We do not recommend using SD cards larger than 32 gigs. Q: What output on the StageScape M20d should I use for my monitor amp or powered monitors when I'm mixing? A: Use a balanced XLR cable to connect the left and right XLR outputs labeled Main Out? to the inputs on your monitor amp or powered monitors. Q: How do I connect the StageScape M20d to my computer for recording? A: Prior to connecting the StageScape M20d to your computer for recording, you will need to install the latest available Line 6 drivers from our of software page at the link below: Line 6 Software Downloads Follow the on screen installer instructions to install the drivers correctly. Once the driver installer is complete, connect a USB cable from the USB port labeled PC on the StageScape M20d to a USB port on your computer. Do not use external USB hubs. Q: Can I use condenser mics that requires 48V phantom power with the StageScape M20d? A: The StageScape M20d has phantom power available to XLR inputs 1-12. To activate phantom power, tap the Input/Output panel located in the top center of the setup, monitor, or perform screen and then tap the 48v button to the left of inputs 1-6 and 7-12 to activate phantom power for each row of inputs. Q: Where do I plug in headphones to the StageScape M20d to monitor the mix? A: The StageScape M20d includes a dedicated headphone output to allow you to closely and quietly monitor your mixes. Simply connect headphones to the headphone output of the StageScape M20d and adjust the level control labeled Phones to control the headphone mix volume. The headphone solo buttons on each track in perform mode will affect what is hear from the headphone outputs. Q: How do I get a signal out of the Main Outs on the StageScape M20d? A: For a overview of the StageScape M20d mixing process you can watch the StageScape M20d support video Getting Started with the StageScape M20d. There is also a tutorial on the StageScape M20d resources page and more videos at the main StageScape M20d mixer forum. Q: How do I use floor monitors with the StageScape M20d? A: The StageScape M20d features four (4) independent monitor outputs. Each output has its own separate monitor mix. Simply connect balanced XLR cables from the Monitor Outs A, B, C, or D to the inputs of your floor monitors. Q: How many total inputs are there on the StageScape M20d? A: The StageScape M20d includes 20 available input channels: 12 high-performance, digitally controlled, auto-sensing mic/line/instrument XLR-1/4" combi inputs. 4 additional auto-sensing balanced line inputs 2 digital streaming inputs direct from computer, USB drive or SD card 1 Stereo line input for integrating MP3 players or other sound sources Q: Where can I find an advanced manual for the StageScape M20d? A: Additional manuals for the StageScape M20d can be found at the link below: StageScape Manuals Q: Where do I register my new StageScape M20d? A: Line 6 products can be registered to your Line 6 User account using the link below: Product Registration Q: What type of footswitch can I use for the footswitch inputs on the StageScape M20d? A: The StageScape M20d works with any momentary Tip Sleeve footswitch. Footswitches can be assigned to toggle scenes, mute FX, play/pause the media player, or begin quick capture recording for 20 seconds. Q: Is it possible to control two StageScape M20d's simultaneously (or switch between them) in the iPad app? A: It will be possible for a single iPad to switch between two StageScapes for control, however it is not possible to control both simultaneously. The user can select one StageScape to control at a time by selecting from a list of WiFi StageScapes that the iPad can communicate with. Q: How do I make a monitor send? A: First connect a powered monitor to a monitor output on the M20d. A monitor will appear on the stage labeled A, B, C, or D, depending on which monitor input you plugged into. An encoder will turn blue signifying that it controls the level of a monitor. Use that encoder to adjust the monitor gain up to the white notch on the monitor signal. Then, go to the monitor page of the M20d. Once on the monitor page the encoders of all active channels will turn blue. Adjust the levels of the active channels you want sent to that monitor accordingly. Q: How do I make an effects send? A: Effects sends - usually reserved for time based effects (Reverbs, Delays, Chorus, Flange and Vocal Doubler) - are found in Global FX. Go to the Tweak page, select your channel from the top left, and select Global FX. Select the Global Effect that you would like to utilize, and select the output you would like to send that effect to from the list on the left. An encoder will turn purple once you select the global effect you want. Use this purple encoder to adjust the level of your global effect. Q: Will global effects apply effects to my entire mix? A: No, global effects are global because any channel can send signal to global effects individually. Global effects take the place of your "aux buses" on other mixers - where you would usually have your time based effects such as reverb and delay. Further explanation can be found in the question above, or in the Advanced Manual. Q: Why doesn't mute all mute my headphones? A: The Mute All button mutes all signals that are sent to mains and monitors, allowing the user to make adjustments in headphones without signal being sent to outputs. The Mute All button can also be used as a Mute group to mute 1 specific group of channels. Q: How can I manually add inserts? A: At this time inserts are not manually added or managed, because inserts are part of DSP presets available from the tweak page. Insert presets can be saved and loaded for future use. Loading insert presets from other instruments will change the icon of that channel on the stage. For example, if you have a Male Vocal channel and try to load the Bongos preset in the Tweak menu, this will change the stage icon of that channel to Bongos. You can change the on stage picture of your inputs to pictures of other instruments inside of your StageScape. Q: Where can I mute and solo my channels? A: Channel mutes and solos are available on the performance mode screen. To toggle between solo or mute, select the Show Solo Buttons at the top of the performance page. Q: When using L6 Link why is there not a monitor stage icon on screen? A: When using L6 Link, you will need to manually create a monitor stage icon. Monitors are only automatically created on the stage when an XLR is plugged into an analog Monitor output. Q: How do I group my channels? A: In setup mode, double click the encoder of an empty channel to bring up the group assign menu. From there, select the channels that you would like to be part of the group. You can group all of your global effects returns to 1 group, or any other channels. Q: Can I change the channel colors to better organize input types? A: No, channel colors are set and not changeable. Q: Do I have to be in perform mode to perform? A: Perform is the mode where you set your mix and can manage your scenes, so it is better tailored for performance management. Although the outputs will remain fully active in each of the other mixer modes. Q: What is the difference between level and trim? A: Trim is your input gain into the M20d, while level is your channel volume within the mix. This can also be described on other boards as: Trim is your pre-amp. Level is your channel fader. Q: How could I connect an external signal processor to the M20d? A: Use a monitor output to feed the processor, connect the output of the processor to a balanced line input 13-16 or an open input 1-12 if all balanced line inputs are taken. Q: Does the M20d include a HI-Z instrument input? A: Each of the 12 available combi inputs can accept either 1/4" instrument cables or XLR cables. Q: What is FBS? A: FBS stands for FeedBack Suppression and it is the built in feedback suppression on the M20d. There are 2 options for FBS, vocal and universal. If the channel is not a vocal channel, it is not recommended to use the vocal feedback suppression setting. DSP presets for direct inputs will not have feedback suppression. For example, acoustic guitar direct will NOT have feedback suppression, but acoustic guitar mic'd will have feedback suppression. Q: Can the quick capture record more than 20 seconds? A: Yes, but recording for more than 20 seconds requires a USB hard drive (with its own external power supply), SD card, or computer to be connected to the M20d. It is recommended to record to SD card rather than USB, because SD cards have a better data transfer rate. Q: How do I use WiFi on the M20d? A: WiFi on the M20d requires a supported USB WiFi adapter, but we recommend using an Apple Airport Express or wifi router in conjunction with an Apple USB/Ethernet adapter. More information on supported USB WiFi products can be found at this link: WiFi USB Adapter & SD card Compatibility and Connectivity Q: How do I delete a track? A: While in Setup mode, select the stage icon for the track you would like to delete, and tap the red trash can located in the upper right corner of the screen to delete a track. Q: Where can I control pan? A: In Setup or Perform mode, pan settings can be controlled by tapping the encoder menu located at the top left of the screen. Then select pan from the drop down menu. In Tweak mode, you can adjust pan individually for each channel from the orange encoder. The pan setting is displayed in the bottom left of the channel Tweak menu. Q: Can I put a limiter on my main outputs? A: In Tweak mode, tap the channel select on the top left of the screen, select Output Channels, and Main Out. Then, select Deep Tweak from the top center of the screen. There you will find a HiPass filter, 4 band compressor, 6 band EQ, 4 band limiter, and L6 Link graphic equalizer for your outputs. The L6 Link graphic EQ is only available when using L6 Link. Q: Is there a graphic equalizer for my mix? A: A graphic equalizer is available on board the M20d when using L6 link. It can be found in Tweak mode under Deep Tweak and L6 Link EQ. Graphic equalizers can be placed on all outputs, but will only be active when using L6 Link. Q: How do I change the name of a channel? A: In Setup mode select an input on your stage. Once a channel is selected, in the top right of the screen, you can tap on the computer keyboard icon to change the name. Or - still in the top right of the screen - you can tap on the small picture of the input you have selected, and from there change the icon of that input or change the name of that input. Q: Why does my stage icon channel number flash yellow? A: Because you created stage a icon without an input connected, therefor the yellow indicator is a place holder for the channels designated. Q: Can I reassign an input once I have created the stage icon? A: Yes, in Setup mode, tap the I/O section at the top center of the screen, then tap the input you would to move, and then double tap the input you would like to assign it to. Q: Can I sync 2 M20d's into a system that will still output to a stereo main mix? A: No, you can not sync 2 M20d's. If you have 2 M20d's and require more than 16 inputs, it is recommended to use 1 M20d as a submixer with main outputs going into 2 inputs on the other M20d. In that case, the M20d being plugged into should be used as your main output to the speakers. StageScape M20d: F.A.Q. Aufnahmezeiten aufgelistet in Minuten:Sekunden. Alle Ausgänge bleiben vollkommen funktionstüchtig in anderen Modi. Was ist FBS?

You must first go into the M13’s SETUP menu (hold the Looper Controls button for a few seconds), and in the FX3 screen, turn the middle knob in the bottom row clockwise to change the SCENE mode to ‘LATCH’. Now exit the SETUP menu (hit Looper Controls again) and press the SCENES switch to view the different Scenes of effects. Now, when you press on each of the Scenes footswitches, it will call up the Scene, but you will remain in the Scenes view allowing you to change to a different Scene of effects with a single button press. Q: How many scenes are there and how do I access them? A: With the 2.01 update, you can create and save up to 12 different scenes in one Scene Folder. With 4 Scene Folders, you get 48 total scenes on the M13! Press the scenes button to access the scenes and turn the MODEL SELECT knob on FX Unit 1 to access the additional folders. Q: Can I backup my scenes to my computer? A: You can backup your scenes via MIDI. Check out the M13 Scene Backup document. Q: Where can I get the factory scenes for my M13? A: You can regain the factory scenes on the M13 following the reset procedure described above, or you can download the individual scenes from the Institute of Noise website. Q: Which expression pedals can I use with the M13? A: We recommend using the Line 6 EX-1 or the Mission Engineering EP1-L6 expression pedals. You can also use any other expression pedal containing a 10k Ohm Potentiometer. Expression pedals allow you to change stompbox controls using your feet so you can adjust the sound while you play. On the fly, you can modify the length of your delay time, dial up the reverb mix, or change the depth of your tremolo. Q: One of my LCD screen's color appears to be different than the other LCD's that have the same model family selected. Can I adjust the color to match the other displays (i.e. I have 4 cascading Delay models and screen #2 appears to be not quite as "green" as the other 3)? A: Yes. Power off the unit. Hold down the "Model Select" knob of LCD screen #3. Power on the unit. You can now adjust the relative color of each LCD display screen relative to the other ones.
  9. Q: Will the Stompbox Modelers work with other instruments besides guitar? Yes, the Stomp Box Modelers will work with just about any "instrument level" device including bass guitar. Q: How can I reset my DL4 to the factory presets? A: You can reset your pedal to the factory settings by powering it up with the A and D footswitches held down - the power is turned on and off on the modeler pedals by inserting a plug into the left mono input jack. Q: How can I set up my DL4 in an effects chain? What kind of power supply does the DL4 require? A: For information on setting up your DL4 in an effects chain or power supply information, please click here. Q: Does the DL4 have reverb? A: The DL4 delay Modeler does not have reverb. It has 15 different delay models and a loop sampler. Q: What are some features and functions of the looper? A: The DL4 Loop Sampler function operates at 14 seconds to summed mono outputs at regular speed, and 28 seconds at half speed. A loop sampled and played at normal speed, then switched to half speed, will drop the pitch an octave. A loop sampled and played at half speed will play back at normal pitch. If the speed is then returned to normal, the pitch will be raised an octave. When the DL4 is in 1/2 speed mode, the sampling rate and consequently the bandwidth have been halfed. This shouldn't be very noticeable though as this halfed bandwidth is still wider than most standard electric guitar amps. If you were using the unit with a very clean, bright electric guitar (or acoustic guitar)and monitoring through studio monitors, you may notice the change in bandwidth. While in "Loop Sampler" mode, the DL4 will receive signal through each of its two inputs simultaneously. The input signal will then be summed to mono, sampled and then sent to the two outputs. In order to sample both inputs separately (or in stereo), the unit would have required two separate sample processors and a lot more RAM. Needless to say, this would have increased the cost of the unit dramatically. All other DL4 "Delay Models" will however have a discrete left and right stereo output. Q: How can I use an EX-1 Expression pedal with my DL4? A: For information on using an EX-1 expression pedal with the DL4, please click here. Q: How is the Expression pedal implemented in the loop/sampler portion of the DL4? Can you adjust the feedback level of the loop (so loops start to fade), or just the mix of loop in the output signal? A: The expression pedal works the same way in the Loop Sampler mode as it does in the regular delay mode. You can set the toe-down position of the pedal to one setting of the knobs (excluding the model selector knob) and the heel-down position to another setting. For example you could have the toe-down position set for the loop mix (mix knob) at maximum, the delay level (tweez) at medium, the delay modulation (tweak)at minimum, the delay repeats at half-way, and the delay time set fast (say 3 o'clock). You could then put the pedal in the heel-down position and set the knobs for the loop level at minimum, the delay level at maximum, the modulation at minimum, the repeats at minimum and the delay time long (say 9 o'clock). Now when you're playing (and the play/stop button is switched on), putting the pedal in the toe down position will give you the loop at full volume, pre-loop delay that is of medium volume volume with no modulation and a fast time. When you switch to heel-down, you'd get no loop (even with the play/stop button switched on)with a long single delay that is very loud. Yes it will remember your settings after you turn the DL4 off. The loop sampler can either play the loop indefinitely (until you hit the stop button)or play it one time only then stop (Button C). It will not trail off on it's own. You would have to use the expression pedal to ride it's level. Q: On the stomp-box modelers, how do I turn on the alternate (delay trails) bypass and what does it do? A: Alternate Bypass will allow the delay to remain in the signal (fade off into the distance) when the pedal is turned off, where True Bypass will stop the delay as soon as the pedal is turned off. Alternate bypass mode should prevent any drop in volume level when the pedal is engaged. In addition, it will not cut off delay trails in a long delay setting. To switch between true bypass and alternate bypass mode, you will need to hold down the a and c buttons at the same time for at least three seconds while inserting the left mono input(which will turn on the unit) to initialize alternate bypass. It will remember the selected bypass mode. Since it's a simple toggle, if you want to switch back, just repeat the process. Q: I'm having a hard time getting my bass loops to sync up with my drum tracks. It almost sounds as though the bass loops are slowing down. Is that possible? Or are there some tricks to getting the loops right on the money? A: What you are experiencing is caused by the fact that it is very difficult to record a perfectly timed loop. Even if the original loop is off by the slightest amount of time, that time will be compounded with every repeat of the loop. Example: if the end of the loop is 1ms off, after 10 loops the guitar parts are now 10ms faster or slower than the drum parts. After 15 loops it will have a 15ms difference etc...You may need to re-sample the loop if after using it 6-8 times it doesn't match perfectly. With practice, you will get the feel of the correctly timed loop. Q: Can I make the sampled loop louder without overpowering my guitar? A: While in the LOOP SAMPLER mode, a simple turn of the MIX knob should enable you to control the level of the initial loops. Also, using the DL4 with a Line 6 EX-1 Expression Pedal will enable you to "morph" between two different MIX settings on the fly, from the floor, in real time. Simply place the EX-1 in the "heel down" position and program the pedal to your first desired setting. Next, put the EX-1 in the toe down position and program your second desired setting. Now, move the pedal back and forth and morph away baby! More information on the DL4 can be found at our Stomp Box Modelers product page. Q: What is the "suppressed carrier" frequency of the ring modulator patch? Is it fixed, or does it change with the variable waveform control (tweak or tweez)? A: It is variable and controlled via the tweak knob. 0 = sine, 10 = square wave. Q: How do I get the "Alvin Lee" dotted eighth note rhythm or "U2/Edge" delay from the DL4 pedal? A: The Alvin Lee Dotted Eighth Note Rhythm: The "Alvin Lee" sound is a single slap-back repeat. To set it up: 1. Tap the dotted eighth rhythm into the Digital Delay model. 2. Set Repeats, Tweak and Tweez to zero and the mix to 1:00. It may seem difficult to tap that rhythm in with your foot, but with a little practice, it becomes pretty easy. There is no preset delay value of a dotted eighth rhythm in the Rhythmic Delay model. The "U2 / Edge" Delay: The "U2/Edge" sound has 1.5 to 2 repeats on each of the stereo delays. To set this up: 1. Set the delay model to stereo delay and the unit automatically defaults to the "U2" sound. The Edge delay is actually a dotted eighth rhythm on the left side and a quarter note rhythm on the right side. The way to adjust the delay to this sound is to set the delay time to 11:00, repeats to 7:30, Tweak to 11:30, Tweez to 7:30 and mix to 1:00. If you want the tempo to be faster, just move the Delay Time and Tweak knobs a little counter-clockwise. You will have to make adjustments by ear to get that perfect "dotted eighth and quarter note" sound. The default Tap Tempo rhythm for the models is a quarter note. It is not possible to change this default rhythm. The only solution would be to save the presets with a different rhythm. This would allow for six presets if you used the optional expression pedal.
  10. Q: What are ToneCore pedals?A: ToneCore pedals are the line of modeling stompboxes from Line 6. Each of the pedals in the Tone Core line include superior Line 6 tone and features, rugged die-cast construction, dual-action switching (tap tempo), and 9 Volt operation (or optional power supply). Q: Are ToneCore pedals "true bypass"? A: No. However, they use an FET style switching that removes the A/D converter from the audio when in Bypass. That being said, it is unlikely that you will notice any change in your tone as FET's are extremely quiet and very fast. Q: Are the ToneCore pedals buffered? A: Yes, all the Tonecore pedals are buffered. Q: Are the ToneCore pedals "true stereo"? Which models have stereo inputs/outputs? A: The following Tonecore pedals are true stereo (stereo inputs and outputs): The Tap Tremolo, Space Chorus, and Echo park. Q: What kind of connections do the ToneCore pedals utilize? A: All ToneCore pedals have unbalanced input and output jacks. Q: Does the delay have a looper?A: No. If you need looping controls and more elaborate delay features, the Line 6 DL4 sets the standard with 14 seconds of loop time, half-speed, and loop reverse. Q: How does the tap tempo work on the various pedals? A: ToneCore pedals feature a unique 2-IN-1 step footswitch used setting the tempo for time-based effects. 1) On all effects, step firmly on the footswitch to turn the effect On and Off. 2) On the effects like delay or tremolo, tap lightly on the footswitch a couple times to set the effect tempo. Q: Will the mono dock tap feature work with stereo modules? A: Yes, the tap feature will work the same in either a mono or stereo dock. Q: How do I power my ToneCore unit? A: The Line 6 DC-1 will power one unit at a time, or you can use a standard 9v battery that tests at 9 volts or higher. Avoid using the Line 6 PX-2 power supply (used with the POD series units), as it can damage your Tonecore unit. The DC-1 can be purchased directly from the Line 6 Store. Q: Can I daisy chain Tone Core pedals on a power supply?A: No, you will want to use isolated power supplies for each ToneCore. The Pedal Power 2 Plus can power up to 6 Tonecore pedals and two Modeling pedals at once. Q: What's the difference between these and the big stomp box modelers? A: The new ToneCores are standard, single button sized stompboxes with no preset programmability, while the four button modelers have presets that can be programmed. Q: Are these models based on vintage pedal effects or are they original? A: Some models are totally new and others were developed using modified versions of Line 6's effects library. Q: Can I run my Line 6 Tonecore pedal at line level either in an effect loop or between a keyboard and an amplifier? A: Yes, you should have no problems running a Tonecore pedal at line level either in an effect loop or between a keyboard and an amplifier. Q: How do I change the battery in my Tonecore pedal? A: Press firmly on both sides of the metal buttons (at the same time) where the pedal presses down. This will disengage the locking mechanism and you will be able to access the battery chamber underneath the pedal section of the Tonecore. Q: How do I get the pedal effect to turn off? A: Due to the unique 2-IN-1 step footswitch used to set the tempo for time-based effects, you need to push hard to engage/disengage the effect. You will hear/feel an audible "click" when the effect is activated/deactivated. Q: My dock was damaged but the module is fine. How can I replace it? A: The mono dock is the only replaceable part left for this product, and can be purchased directly from the Line 6 Store. Q: What are the setting for the pedals in the demonstrations? A: Unfortunately we have no record of the settings used for the demonstrations. Q: Do I need to have my Line 6 amplifier on a specific setting if I am going to utilize a Line 6 effect pedal? A: There is no specific setting you should use, but you may want to modify the effects in your presets when doing your initial setup to hear exactly what you are working on. Q: I notice a latency when you max the mix knob on the Echo Park? A: The mix knob full on means that you will only have delay, and none of the original guitar signal. if you are running the pedal between your guitar and amplifier you will most likely want to have the mix position at 50% value or less. Q: Is the dry signal passed through as analog and then mixed with the digital wet signal, or is the entire signal converted to digital, manipulated and then converted back to analog? A: The audio signal does a "full conversion" of analog to digital processing, and then back to analog processing. Q: What is the input and output impedence of the Tonecore series? A: Input impedence: ~680-800 ohms, output impedence: ~1Kohm. Q: What size Allen wrench is used to change the effect module? A: 7/64" A.E.S.
