  1. 1. If Line6 built an amp like this, would you buy it?

standard practice combo amp with amp models, effects, etc.

plus all this:

- built in wireless system.  guitar side of system is rechargeable and docks into amp to charge

- programmable footswitch that mounts into the back of the amp when not in use / during transport

- wirelessly integrates with ipad/ipod/iphone for convenient control interface, backing tracks, looping, recording, etc.

- plays audio stream from ipad/ipod/iphone in full stereo hi-resolution

that would be nice.

All I would like to see would be a USB port on the back to save and load presets without having to hook up a computer.

A built in wireless system would not be good in the UK and most of Europe. RF spectrum is really crowded now and radio is getting less and less usable. You have two options; pay £8.00 per day  for a license,  (per radio system, so radio guitar and radio mic = £16 per day etc...) or use a frequency in Ch.39 which are free and then have all the taxis in the area blasting through your amp during your set.

Actually there are three options, you can pick a frequency outside of Ch. 39 and run the risk of a £3000.00 fine, or a very unpleasant interview with the police if the frequency you choose is one reserved for the military.

Glastonbury festival is on at the moment and it is interesting to see the amount of artists that are going back to wired instruments and mics - even for lead vocals.

.

UNBELIEVABLE! actually charging for air waves. there seems to be plenty of room in the U.S. that's about $12 usd a day. is the charge by day when using?

Yep, charge is per radio per day and it gets really expensive (another good reason to live in the USA!) and you have to notify in advance where you are playing and they tell you what frequencies you can use.  We used to have loads of free frequencies in Ch.76 but all the internet companies wanted that for wifi - thanks Microsoft.

check out https://www.jfmg.co.uk/pages/licence/licence.htm and just be glad you live in the US.

Actually I was wrong before: it's a £5000.00 fine - yes that really is $7,606.50 - and possibly a 6 month prison sentence though you would have to be a pretty regular offender to get that. A lot of US bands touring the UK don't bother to license and just take a chance, and you do have the option to retrospectively get a licence up to a few days after the event.
