What happened to the L1 series?

Recommended Posts

I think you are talking about the Bose systems which are still widely available.  There are a couple of other line array style rigs available too.  There is the RCF Evox series and the new Turbosound Inspire series (which looks very interesting to me)...

No, I know the Bose system, and it is definitely not the ones I had in mind. I have undoubtedly seen a list with two Stage Source L1 speakers. One L1T (8 ") and one small L1S, which I think was a 15" bass reflex sub - side by side with the L2 and the L3-series.

Something gives me the impression that, as the pdf is from early 2013, that once the L2 and L3 were launched, the consensus at the time was that it wouldn't be viable to actually put the L1 into production; not enough demand for the breadth of range from what was, at the time, a completely new entry into the live sound market. Longer term, given the quality of the current models, I don't see why it wouldn't be, but company policies and future plans will always adapt to market demand. Perhaps, at the time, dealer feedback was that the L1 wasn't going to be a seller?|?

Whether that would change with the release of an M20d V2, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Shame if it never sees the light of day though...

Would love to see a true monitor wedge that had all the features of the L2. It works well as a monitor but in some venues it's just too wide and I end up using active wedges instead. I have some 8" LD monitors but can't use L6 link with them so it's a pain!! It would also mean I could get a Firehawk and use one of my L2s as my guitar rig. Be easier than humping my Spider Valve around. Not getting any younger!!
