They did this last year; but just for a short term.. Looks like Sweetwater is until end of April.

That sub price is still a bit steep, I'd like to find one used or floor demo for a couple hundred less..

If it's for band you'll want the mixer too. I can do small gigs with 2 L3' and 1 L2.

It might be time for us to purchase 2 L3 and one L3s!

-Max

What is max number of speakers that will link to M20d?

Someone said 9LS and 9L3

Does it matter whether they are sub, main, or monitor?

I have 3 Ls. 6 L3 and 2L2

L2 Speakers are on sale too - $100 off...

Yes! I must say, the L2 are essential to the complete rig, they work great as both monitors for a bigger rig, or mains for a smaller rig. I have two L2t's now; at some point wouldn't mind adding one or two more L2, probably L2m - just for additional stage monitor mixes. I typically use the M20d, run everything through that to also be able to multitrack record; though I went with L2t's for that odd situation where I use them standalone sans mixer, or as a stage amp for HD500 or acoustic guitar, etc.

I just added a pair of L3m (from this sale) to round out the PA for my band. Brought them home last night! Definitely heavy, but I like the shape; being slim and tall like that makes them easier to hold with the handle in one hand if needed, and they hang closer to the body; and you can use the lip at the top as a second grab point. For a 57 pound speaker, not light -but definitely transport friendly!

the Line6 link carries six channels of audio/data. Two mains (left, right) and four monitor mixes-, in that sense, I think your 'horizontal' limit is four (monitors) though the main total is something like 8 subs and 8 mains?> I have the L3t/m mini-manual in my car, and it has a chart about the auto configurations that occur based on the number of L3s and vertical L3t/m speakers that are combine. I will check to see what the max number it indicates for vertical L3t/m and L3s.

Edit: It's nine, as groovedggr said; I think they go for the extra 'mono center', so with a full left right equal match, you can add one more in the middle!

I am looking at adding a single sub; with two L3m vertical, according to that chart, the sub would need to be the after the first L3m, before the second L3m. Can be before or after the monitor chain. So the sub gets the sum of the L/R. If you have two subs and multiple mains, I think you link to the first sub first, then to the L3t/m.. It can be re-assigned also using the M20d, but I guess it's good to know how to anticipate what it will do if you

Yes, 18 is the total - but to be specific, I think that means a total of 9 mains + 9 monitors. I don't know what it would do it you linked more than 9 mains or monitors!

The two charts right after that page in the manual were quite informative!; in terms of, when you have 9 or 18 speakers connected, how it configures by default which speaker gets what.

Table 1: Default Output Assignments for Vertically Oriented L3t and L3m Speakers:

1 Mains L+R

2 Mains L Mains R

3 Mains L Mains L+R Mains R

4 Mains L Mains L Mains R Mains R

5 Mains L Mains L Mains L+R Mains R Mains R

9 Mains L Mains L Mains L Mains L Mains L+R Mains R Mains R Mains R Mains R

4 Aux A Aux B Aux C Aux D

Colonel... Those are the L6Link auto assign charts, ie the way the M20d will automatically assign each vertically positioned and horizontally positioned speaker in your chain. I reckon they maxed it out at 9 because it then fitted onto one page ;-)

When manually assigning, there is nothing to prevent you from sending L/R to every one of your 18 speakers if that is what you want to do.

Good to know!! I figured it was something like that; it did just fit at one table per page. It does seem logical that if you keep adding speakers, that are vertical it will most likely just keep adding L/R when the numbers are odd and equal pairs of L/R when the numbers are even. I suppose it would matter if someone wanted to position some subs center to get L+R.

I think one of the smartest features they included with the M20d is the 'ping' function. Having only a couple of speakers, not needing it much - but what a great way to quickly identify which speaker on your link list corresponds to which speaker in the actual stage! Way easier to re-assign a speaker in the M20d that move it around or change cables..

So - if anyone out there has more than nine L2 / L3 speakers and wants to test this for us..   ;) The 'Wall of Sound' ain't got nuthin' on that rig!!

I am pretty far from having anything near that # of speakers connected any time soon, but it never hurts to wonder.
