Any tips on how to keep the handle on?

Hi everyone.

 

I recently bought a secondhand dt25 combo and today, while moving it to another room, managed to drop it on my foot when all four of the screws holding the carry handle came out. I understand that at least two of them screw into the amp chassis, so I'm guessing that the threads have somehow stripped. Any tips on how I can get it to stay on and retain the use of my other foot?

If the handle is anything like the DT50 I have then the screws thread into some form of nut with spikes into the under side of the case not the amp chassis.  If they've all gone walkies then I'd worry where they dropped to, if they have stripped then they are goosed. 

 

Longer screws and some compatible nuts, small washer and lock-tight will have the same effect and will hold the handle on.

WOW!!  That's really messed up.  I don't think longer screws are going to help you.  If the old screws actually stripped out (look at the threads and check their condition) you will have to go to the next size up in screw diamerter.  You should probably open up a ticket on this one with Line 6 and see how they direct you. 

 

Actually, are the old screws machine screws or wood screws?  Do you know how to tell them apart?  Machine screws will be squared off at the end oposite the head of the screw.  Wood screws will have a pointy end (so they can dig into the wood.  If these are machine screws, you're going to need to access the insdie of the amp to reinstal a nut.  If they are wood screws, you should be able to go to the next size up and the old hole will become your new pilot hole.

 

But chack with the Line 6 guys with a ticket.  They should know they had a failed handle anyway.
