Moving a multiple assignment to an alternate footswitch should retain all of your pedal/assignment choices, the customized name, and the customized color. Right now you have to rebuild everything you had assigned to the footswitch from scratch. This is a feature that would greatly simplify things and save lots o' time.

Moving a "Multiple" assignment (for example turn on Mutant Filter, turn off compressor) from one footswitch to another requires reassigning up to all eight of your pedals/assignments to the new footswitch instead of moving all of the current assignments at one time. Additionally, if you have a customized name it will be lost (the name reverts back to "Multiple") and you will have to retoggle in the name again. You also lose the color for the footswitch ring if you had that customized as well.

You can vote for it here:

Add "Alternate Edit Mode" to avoid changes by accident

(all at Home Screen!)

touch FS6 ("MODE") to toggle between current Edit behavior and:

1. touch any block FS do NOT change the display!

2. turning the Joystick skips the focus to the next block but NOT change block’s modelselection

3. a little icon on Home Screen should indicate which mode is active (or the cribble strip of "EDIT"?)

Single block sends/returns

I would love to have a send/return blocks that take up one single block.

I use all four send/returns and that takes up a lot of block real estate I would rather use for other purposes.

If you like this idea, click below to vote for it!

Isn't this already in Helix? Under sends/returns, either mono or stereo, called an FX Loop block.

Or, even better, a setting on the tap tempo that would output a click, thus, saving an effects block?

Yeah, a metronome in Helix should be Global, and appear in the Tempo panel when you touch TAP.

I added two ideas with the goal of making mixing of two cabs, mics or amps easier -- one would be to have stereo cabs have automatically equal right and left volume regardless of cab or mic chosen. The second would be an auto leveled mixing block which would allow changing the relative % of a or b from 50-100% but maintain consistent volume which would make for easier mixing choices.

I'm happy to see we all agree then!

Here's to a metronome in the tempo panel in the near future!

Make "LED Ring Brightness" setting variable instead of on/off. This setting is under Global Settings/Displays. Right now you only have a choice of on/off, instead of being able to vary the brightness of the rings around the footswitch when it is in the "off" position.

It would be great if you could vary the brightness of the footswitch ring when it is "off". This would accommodate different light levels on stage (dark, daylight, etc.). I also find the default dim level in the off mode to be just a little too bright for my eyes and it can sometimes make it difficult to tell if the pedal is on or off at a quick glance. With a variable dim setting the ring brightness could be customized for different eyes.

I love the footswitch ring feature! Please retain the ability to turn the ring all the way off in the "off" position but add the ability to vary the brightness (assuming it is physically possible with the LED's you are using). Thanks!

Added amp in a room or Kemper style pure cabinet feature to ideascale. I think that would give us even more versatility in tones esp for live playing.

Expression Pedal, foot switch Controller map Idea Actions

list of parameters that have assigned sw and controllers eg...

It can be annoying to find a pedal parameter assignment. at least with the foot switches you can cycle thru the assignments, on the exp's you have to move thru every block and page. I'm requesting an assignment map even if it's just for the pedals like the HD500 has. Please vote it up if you understand the need.

Doesn't it feel like forever to roll the potentiometer sometimes?

When you edit a parameter you can always push the potentiometer to shortcut to the default value.

I suggest the push-pot could rotate for three shortcuts: minimum - default - maximum

Dynamically allocate DSP resources

Dynamically allocate DSP resources to whichever path (1 or 2) requires it up to the total limit available.

Currently each path (1 or 2) is preassigned to one of the two available DSP processors on the Helix. This results in less flexible options for setting up paths and forces workarounds such as the "3+1" option.

It seems like a more ideal use of DSP would be to dynamically allocate DSP to whichever path needed it from a pool of the total DSP available (both DSP processors).

Just submitted this to Ideascale, please vote it up if you agree.
http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Dynamically-allocate-DSP-resources/795206-23508

Note: It would seem that there might be certain scenarios where each path is maxed but has a bit of DSP leftover as you probably rarely max out at the exact DSP limit.  Bonus, dynamic allocation might utilize these two leftover DSP fragments from both paths by combining them to provide a bit more processing power - an extra cab or effect.

I doubt this is actually a possibility. Each chip has a certain number of audio ins and outs, and as it stands right now there are ways to link the two together, but what isn't possible is having the signal path split in some fashion. I just don't think it's a possibility, otherwise I'd have to believe they'd be doing it.

It's worth noting that the Fractal AX8 board is using these exact same chips, also in a dual configuration. In Fractal's case, though, they have dedicate one chip to effects and the other to amp and cab/IR modeling. So compared to that, the Helix offers a ton more flexibility.

You may well be right, you might have to modify hardware to get this done. I was wondering if it was possible with firmware with the current hardware? Just thought I would throw the idea out there in case it was. Operating systems such as Windows and OS X can and do pool multiple processors and there are applications that can use multiple processors so there are models for resource pooling already out there.

Pooling processing power can also yield throughput advantages as you can split throughput to multiple inputs/outputs on multiple processors, potentially resulting in less latency.

I agree wholeheartedly with your comment regarding the max flexibility chosen by L6 given the current DSP implementation strategy. I hope it did not come at the cost of increased latency.  I would not be surprised if at some point in the future audio hardware pools the DSP resources, if it can be done now, even better.

The splitter needs a true A/B function, as in A or B. This will enable simpler channel management.

http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/True-A-B-splitter/794705-23508

Looks like I had some pilot error and this is already a thing. DI straightened me out.  Here are his instructions:

If you assign the Split > A/B's Route To parameter to a footswitch, it does:

1. Press and hold Knob 1 (Route To) to jump to the Controller Assign page for that parameter.

2. Press Knob 6 (Learn Controller) and then press the desired Stomp mode footswitch.

The switch now toggles between A and B. You can adjust the Min and Max values to toggle different blends, but by default, it's completely A or completely B.

Just added request for more impulse response slots. While 128 is quite a few -- for those of us with large libraries it would be nice to have another 100 or so. Please vote if you agree.

Import effects from M13, the Helix lack too much effects... http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Helix-import-M13-Effects/740566-23508

I've been hoping for this for a long time, but if it's going to happen, it's going to take a long time.

One of my presets from the HD uses the growler filter, which I tried to replicate on Helix but couldn't do it. I tried mostly using the 3 OSC synth (I sure wish there were some documentation for this Line 6 Original filter), so I have to keep one of my HDs around for this purpose. However, I've found I can do perfectly fine without the Dimension Chorus, so it's not all bad.

Hoping more folks will vote this one up at http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Swap-footswitch-assignments-from-top-row-to-bottom-vice-versa/790520-23508

Global setting to allow swap of footswitch assignments from top row to bottom & vice versa

If there was a global setting to swap assignments from the top to the bottom rows the player would be at their leisure to decide for themselves whether they prefer pedals on the bottom or top row. You would be able to change your preference for presets on top or bottom row and have all your factory and user pedal assignments follow your preference.

Create a setting in global settings to swap all of the footswitch assignments from the top row to the bottom row and vice versa. As of now, pedal assignments do not follow your preference choice of whether you want pedals on your bottom row or the top. If you change this preference you would have to reassign every pedal manually. The Line6 factory presets are set for the pedals to show up on the bottom row and the only way to change that is reassign every pedal, one by one. That creates a big problem if you are a player who likes to use the bottom row for presets and have your pedals on the top row.

The Helix has the great feature of allowing the user to decide whether they want to split pedal/presets on either the top or bottom row. It is a shame to see this functionality crippled by not allowing the factory presets to conform to the users choice without days (months) spent on manually reassigning every footswitch assignment in the factory and potentially user presets.

Now that everyone's had more time with their Helix's, has anyone that uses theirs live found a need or desire to have autoscrolling on the bank up/down switches?  I know from past experience with my POD 500X's that this would be a useful feature.  I posted on IdeaScale a while back but wanted to bring it up again and hopefully get some more votes if anyone finds this feature useful.

Please check it out!  http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Automatic-Bank-Scrolling/787822-23508

Helix Single Cab vs Dual Cab block icon must be different.

There is no way, from the Home screen, to determine the Cab block type being used: 'Single' vs 'Dual', like for Amp+Cab and Amp which in this case the icons are different.

The only way to know, is by manually selecting the actual Cab block and look if there is 2 white speakers Cab icons next to the Cab name (see dual-cab-icons.png attachment)

For instance, check preset '08B Electric Version' from Factory 2 set list. The first Cab, in path 1B, is a Dual type one, while the other 2 Cabs in Path 2A/2B are 'Single' type ones, but from that screen all Cab blocks look the same.

See 'Dual Cab block.png' suggestion for Dual Cab block.

I would agree, I think there needs to be more variance in general for the icons. I would also like to know whether I am looking at a chorus, flanger, phaser, etc. instead of a "Mod".  It would be nice to see at a glance which amp, Fender or Marshall, or which distortion/overdrive from the home screen. The scribble strips if they are assigned do offer some of that capability but not every block gets assigned. With more variation in the icons the home screen would be a lot more informative. You can vote that idea up here:

I added one, requesting that the global EQ page displays the EQ curve and the frequency analysis:

EDIT: I noticed that there was another submission asking, among other things, for this as well -- it's in the list as "Expanded Display for EQ and Compression Blocks"

I would like to see a global reverb amount. A percent of whats in the patch. A range from 0 - 200%.

My old Boss GT5 has it. Great for certain venues that need less reverb and the rare dead rooms that need more overall.

Much easier than going through every patch and adjusting reverb.

How about making the helix gig worthy, instantaneous preset switching, fade out of previous preset. how about phantom power blocker already installed. I see a lot of great ideas on this forum but the helix is a slow switching dinasaur and some other major issues on stage. I felt like this wasn't much faster than my turtle amplify 150 with shortboard when it comes to preset switching. My 500x is just a little better. If all you do is play in your house or record the helix is fine. Outside of that, not so much.
