tobiasghrke
Hi all! After my Low Down 400 crashed i was looking for another option to use a multi effect. As i see Line 6 doesn t seem to offer a Multi-Effect for Bass-Players in the close future...what make me sad.... My Question: Is my only chance to use a Multi-Effect-Board => get a Pod HD 500 => Delete all those guitar amps => get the Bass-Amp-Add-on => Use the Board with those bass amps and effects ??? Seems like a bit stupid for me.... Any other options or ideas if there will be a new Bass-Apm or a special Bass-Multi-Effect soon? Greetings and TY ;O)
Mr_Arkadin
There is no bass-specific modeller in the range and it's unlikely ther will be again I the near future. The HD500/x has the bass expansions but you don't delete the guitar amps, the bass pack is added to the existing models, you just use the amps you want. There is also he upcoming Helix which will include bass models. That might be a little more than you want to spend though. You could also pick up an older model like the X3 which includes lots of bass models. Btw what do you mean by your Low Down crashing? pianoguyy
http://line6.com/support/topic/8395-any-bass-tips-hd500/ You don't need to use the bass pack (but it helps).
tobiasghrke
Ok, ty. My lowdown amp doesn t give a sound anymore...no idea why. Will visit a support center and hope they can fix it. Those old bass pods are rare..specially those rack versions. I like the 500 but i also have the feeling that i ll buy something and use just a small part of it

Mr_Arkadin
I have the Low Down HD400. Pretty solid rack. Have you tried using the headphones, preamp or direct out to see if any sound is coming out at all? If you don't mind losing your presets, you could try a factory reset which is to hold the 'A' button whilst powering for five seconds. napynap
The same bass amp models from POD HD 500 are available in the POD HD Desktop (bean), which I use. It's a smaller solution if you don't want to deal with a pedal board. However, it only has unbalanced out, so I keep a DI handy for some PA's. pfsmith0
And if it helps any, I imagine most of us here use only a small portion of what the HD500 has to offer, so don't let that aspect stop you.

The 1/4" outs are TRS so are balanced, so all you need is a TRS to XLR lead, no DI box required!

I wish that was the case, but unfortunately, the POD HD Pilot's Guide (Rev E) - Pilot's Handbook (sometimes listed as the Quickstart Guide) refering to page 4, Front Panel Controls diagram, details on Page 7 state the following: 18. Unbalanced Output - Connect 1/4" cables here to send your sound to a guitar amplifier, recorder, mixer or PA system.
Mr_Arkadin
That documentation is incorrect. I'll ask about getting it changed.
CipherHost
I thought TRS could be either unbalanced stereo OR a balanced mono cable.
Mr_Arkadin
I thought TRS could be either unbalanced stereo OR a balanced mono cable. Yes that's correct.. You can also use a regular instrument cable (unbalanced mono) in TRS sockets.
brue58ski
Have you looked for a Bass Pod XT? They were giving them away with a Variax bass toward the end of it's run. I'm thinking given their "populaity" at the time, ou could find one at a good price. I love mine and am surprised at it's lack of popularity. And the POD X3 had all of the bass amps the Bass XT had. Just not all of the output options the XT had.
