HD500X: edit amps settings without using the big knobs?

Hey guys,

I totally understand the patch editing in the HD500X. To change the params of the amp, I use those big knobs on the unit: Drive, Bass, Mid, Treble, Presence, Volume. However, I feel much more comfortable using the 4 small knobs below the screen, the ones we use to edit everything else.

The big knobs have 2 problems: 1) the start position of the knob is never the same of the parameter set. So when you move the big knob, you almost never can go back to the original value. 2) They are imprecise, it's hard to choose an specific numeric value.

I remember in the old days of the great X3 Live, when editing the amp settings, I had the choice to use the big knobs, or the 4 small knobs below the screen.

So I wonder: to edit the amp settings, is there any way to use the 4 small knobs on the HD500X?

1) There should be a small tick mark that shows the last saved position of that dial when you make changes. You can get pretty close to the old setting using the POD's dials.

Unfortunately, no. The only way to avoid using the physical amp knobs is using HD Edit.

I don't think that's correct.

I believe you can double click on the enter knob to enter values from the four edit knobs. (the arrow must be over the amp block)

But I dont have the POD here now so I may be wrong..

Edit: ...and I have a very old firmvare.

I checked that before I posted, and just checked again. Double clicking enter brings up the amp knobs on the screen, but the four encoders below the screen change the amp, cab, mic, and a toggle between amps if using dual amps. Double clicking enter also gives access to the DEP controls.

OK,  I stand corrected

Trying to dial in a number value is not the way to make music.

Dial in a sound. Use your ears, not your eyes

CipherHost: pianoguyy is always offering an opinion no one asked for, but he does provide a jem from time to time. This would be one of them.

I'm not making music, I'm configuring an electronic device. I'll start making music after it's properly configured.

CipherHost: Where do you draw the line between electronic device and musical instrument in modeling?

Non-Sarcastic Response: I suppose you're both right in that we will all use our gear in our own way. And rightly so!

Mildly Sarcastic Response: I don't think I would notice if someone changed the treble setting in my Atomic Punk patch from 54 to 55 when I wasn't looking.

Moderately Sarcastic Response: How do you adjust the volume and treble pots on your guitar?

I did try to help you in a previous post. I was just saying at some point you have to trust your ears.
