justcrash
Hello! I was thinking about picking up one of the recently released amp packs for my 500x. I'm particularly interested in the JCM800 model as I don't care much for the stock one. Are they worth the price? Anyone have any audio clips of the new stuff? The last time I looked it was just medium gain, bluesy stuff on YouTube.
PeterJH
Have a look at the video I put together on the model packs. I did a small clip of the modded JCM800. Cheers, Peter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHLHrh1NKlw

pianoguyy
Worth? Depends on how desperately you need it. It is certainly cheaper than going out and buying a dozen different amps and cabs - even cheaper than just the one that you want. I get all of the sounds I want out of the stock models. I don't even use all of them. I, personally, have no reason for them. That doesn't mean that you don't/won't. *yes, there is a difference between the free and paid marshall amps. pfsmith0
They offer a different tone pallet from which to choose from and enriches the whole HD500 experience. That's why I got the HD500 to start with - variety of tones to choose from.
joel_brown
Yeah they're worth it - they're very inexpensive. I bought them and returned them. I wasn't looking to change but wanted to see if it was something I needed. That's the great thing. You can try them out and if you don't like them, return it. I think you get 30 days, if I remember right.
Dshow
I agree with pianoguyy. If you are in need for a special amp model it might be worth buying it. I personally have not really need for it. I've bought the whole bundle when there was the reduced price offer but I returned them all because there where only 3 amps that I liked from different packs. For me it wasn't worth buying all for just 3 amps that I would use. But I'm using only 3-4 amps of the stock ones too :-)
justcrash
I bit the bullet and bought them. So far I like the 2204 a lot, the Panama Black (5150) is nice also. How can I tell which new model is based on what? As in, what are their names in the program?
duncann
If you plan on keeping your HD for an length of time and play bass through it, the bass pack at least is a must! Plus the new bass cabs, 4x10 Rhino and 8x10 Beast offer some great tones when used as cabs for guitar, not just bass.
