recording hd500

Recommended Posts

There is an extra D/A conversion in the HD500 when using the analog outputs. Whether this is detectable in terms of sound quality depends largely on your ears and monitors.

Also, if you are connecting the analog outputs to an audio interface for recording to a computer, there will need to be another A/D conversion before the signal hits your computer.

The biggest degradation in the signal path are the data converters so the fewer conversion stages you go thru the better. So that would mean SPDIF would be best, USB next (if you can tolerate the latency), then analog XLR, then analog 1/4".

I've never been able to record using the USB to Cubase because of the ASIO latency.

.....

That's strange. There should be virtually zero latency if you are using the Line 6 ASIO driver, monitor using the POD outputs, and turn off the software monitoring in your DAW.

I haven't tried for ages now.

If you go in with Line 6 ASIO from Pod how do you connect to the studio monitors ?

Also how do you go into the pc with spdif ?

I've got Pod HD bean.

You connect your studio monitors to the Pod audio outputs (e.g. Headphones or 1/4" outs). Make sure Cubase is configured to use the POD and its ASIO driver as the audio device.

To go into the PC using spdif you need a separate audio interface that accepts spdif input.
