duncann
Is there a predictable way to determine the order of the IRs when a bunch are grabbed from a file manager to the Helix application? Ideally, it would be great if it would load them sequentially in the order they are seen in the file manager when sorted alphabetically, but something other is going on. For my current list of compiled IRs, it seems to load them ok in an alphabetical order except it takes the last one listed in the file manager and loads is first. It's easy to just move this one IR to the bottom of the list and clear the first IR slot in the Helix application, but as my list grows, is this going to be the way it always works? If so, I guess that's predictable, but odd. This is important because presets that have IR blocks in them rely on the position a given IR is loaded in. And seeing that currently Helix is prone to crashing, requiring at least a preset and IR wipe, this can quickly become quite annoying. jroseberry
I experience the same thing when loading a large group of IRs. Sequential names are placed out of order... One other thing: We can export IRs, but we need a means of backing them up as a "bundle"... where the IRs are placed in the correct slots when reloaded. Otherwise, we have to manually keep a running tab on which IR belongs in which slot. Not a big deal with a couple of IRs. Major pain if you make heavy use of IRs. All that said, I'm really liking Helix. Fantastic job by Line-6.
duncann
You can select all IRs on Helix and just drag them to your file manager, or select all IRs and click the export button. It's loading them back to Helix that becomes problematic. I might try indexing the filenames to see if that helps, but that will take away characters from an already short filename. jroseberry
Yeah, getting each IR back into the proper "slot" is (currently) the tedious part. There needs to be a way to save them as a bundle (just like presets)... so you can (re)load them and they're automatically in proper place. duncann
Renaming the IRs, in your file manager, with a numbered prefix - 001-,002-,003- ... 128- (1-,2-,3- ... 128 has unexpected results also) - seems to load them in the order you see them in your file manager. However, if you grab a bunch with prefixes of 001- to 019- and drag them to the Helix application starting at a slot other than 001, it will have unexpected results. In other words, the numbered prefix corresponds to the slot location on Helix. Also, the number prefix, 001-, 002-,, etc. is discarded when loaded, which is good. Edit: Urgh! Never mind to the above. On a successive clear/load, I have no idea what it's doing now. It seems random. It's picking slot 014 and for some reason is seeing that as slot 001 (file manager slot that is). The prefix is still discarded though. Edit2: Power cycled the unit and now it loads everything as expected again. Edit3: After you have everything loaded in Helix the way you want, from the IRs containing the added prefixes in the filename, and then export them from Helix, the prefixes are gone. Back to square one. So it's best to keep your custom IRs with the prefixes on your computer. Edited October 16, 2015 by duncann
