Line6 Discontinuing JTVs?

Recommended Posts

If they retire the JTV, the only iron in the fire will be the Standard. I doubt Yamaha will leave it at that.

Without customers, multiple products that really only differ aesthetically, and all do the exact same thing, is pointless and costly. JTVs haven't exactly proven to be a "gotta-have-it" guitar. Finding one in a store is a Herculean task...I'm still waiting for my first sighting. Most guitarists don't even know they exist, or if they do it's "oh yeah, I think I read about those once".

True, I wouldn't have heard about them in detail if I wasn't on here.....

And it's the kind of guitar that you HAVE to try, not just buy blind....

And my GC only had 2 guitars

Buying blind was my only option...got lucky, had no issues other than loathing the neck on the 69, but that was easily rectified.

2 years later, still never seen one in a store, and I'm within 10 minutes of a fairly large GC, and 2 Sam Ash locations. Nobody stocks them...

I dunno I think guitarists who are into their modelling fx and whatever will have heard about them , many probably don't realise what a good piece of kit it is though (myself included until a week ago)

Guitarists who aren't into modelling would probably never consider one anyway

The jtv was a step in the right direction from my viewpoint , I never would have tried one if it wasn't equipped with mag pickups

I think the standard could use at least one different shape, I've never been a strat guy so they don't really do anything for me aesthetically

I wouldn't be surprised if line 6 are working on the next level with a new modelling system to pair with the helix
