Variax standard, E(first) low volume

Hi,

it is all in the title: the (high) E string gives only a low volume tone, no matter if I play on the "real" PU's, or on any of the simulated ones.

What I tried:

- changing strings from the 010 set to a 011 set >> nothing changed

- altering the PU height (up/down) >> nothing changed (for the magnetic PU's).

As it is the E string almost sounds muted.

I found no similar post here, so I do not think that this problem is wide spread?

Anyway - every bit of help will be more then welcome.

Thank you, but - if you read in my post "... gives only a low volume tone, no matter if I play on the "real" PU's, or on any of the simulated ones" you see that the low volume happens with the magnetics AND the simulations.

During "normal" playing this can be minimized by digging in a bit more, but while playing slide (main form), then it becomes even more troublesome. Even the use of a compressor (++ sustain) does near to nothing to enhance the volume/sustain of the high E.

Today I changed to the NYXL strings from D'addario. They deliver more output, especially in the higher register - still the high E "stands out"/is lower in volume, has less sustain then normal.

So I looked for bridge replacements and found that Line6 has them but only delivers to customers in the USA?

Bad joke?

Try moving that end of the mag pickups closer to the strings.  If it's doing it with the real mag pickups then it's not anything to do with the electronics because there is no separate output for each string from the mag pickups!  It is a mechanical / pickup problem same as with any standard guitar.
