Controller-Assigned Switch Label Question?

I'm sure I'm missing something really stupid here, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to customize the ring and scribble strip on a footswitch that is ONLY assigned to a controller function and not controlling the on/off state of a block. In my case I have a switch assigned to the mid-boost, and I can't figure out how to change the name and ring color. The manual says to do it from the command center, but I can only access the the edit function if I assign another MIDI or CV control function to that switch.

So, what am I missing here?

There should be a customize button over the last encoder below the screen if there is parameter assigned to a switch.

So assign the parameter to the switch and set its min and max values first. Then go to the command center and select the switch using the joystick to change the color and scribble strip.

Footswitches can be assigned to blocks (Footswitch Assign), parameters (Controller Assign), and MIDI/CV/Amp Control messages (Command Center). There wasn't room for a Customize button on the Controller Assign page, but you can get to the same spot from the Command Center screen.
