Online Helix Reference Guide for Models

Okay, All of the amps (guitar and bass) on http://helixhelp.com now have pages associated with them that contain reference videos (where I could find them).

These pages will eventually include additional information, notable players, images, and a brief history description for each individual amp but that will definitely take some research and time.

We're at a great starting point though!

I hope you all like it.

I just updated helixhelp.com with more in depth information regarding Common Amp Settings. This information can be found at the bottom of the amps page.

Thank you amsdenj for providing the information.

I've also added further information regarding tone controls to the amps page. Thank you duncann for providing the link to that information.

In the future, if anyone has improvements they'd like to see on helixhelp.com feel free to send me a private message.

Hey I was curious if the Helix actually sounded like the effects/amps it said it was modeling and decided to make videos so others could see as well. If you want it on your site feel free to post it. This video compares the Helix vs the Timmy.

This is my first video and hope to make many more in the next couple months. comments and suggested improvements are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thank you for this! If you go to the distortion section of http://helixhelp.com you'll see a new link for the Teemah! that contains the video you created.

Thanks again!

This site just keeps getting better and better, thanks for all your hard work! I would love to see a "Microphones" section added for a quick lookup and maybe even description of the different mic types. I find myself surfing for these quite a bit as I try to determine the best mic to use with my cabs.

Hey man,

There is already a "Mics" section on http://helixhelp.com

A great read for guitar amp mic-ing and general recording can be found here: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/aug07/articles/guitaramprecording.htm

I've add that link to the top of to the "Mics" section on Helix Help.

I added a link to a nifty Helix Trick Document to the front page of http://helixhelp.com

+1 Awesome! Ultimately it might be helpful to see these grouped under headings like "EQ", "Effects Settings", "Amp Settings", "Routing", "DT", "Variax", "Live Performance", "Recording", etc.. I like the way you credited the contributors by including their screenames!

Hey guys,

I wanted a place to visit that listed all of the models inside the Helix as well as the product each of them were based on. I couldn't find anything on the web so I made something:

http://helixhelp.com

The site is current with firmware 1.06.0 and I'll continue to update it and add features as time progresses.

I'm not affiliated or associated with Line 6 or any of the products modeled by them. This is just a fan site.

I hope you find it convenient and useful.

This is awesome - thanks for doing this!

I have the Rack version with Helix controller, nowhere in the manual does it list how the switches are numbered, but I have tried to get "LED FUN" by holding the each of the switches that could logically considered #2 (one at a time, separately), and I have only initiated the controller update mode (which wasn't needed, it was already up to date).

So, do these "Reset Options" work for the rack Version (with controller)? I really want to dim the scribble strips, significantly, and can find no way to do it.

Hmm. That's an interesting question. Someone from Line 6 would have to answer about the differences in reset options between the floor and rack versions. My guess is most of them are the same with the differences being in the diagnostic/test mode stuff. The LED FUN would fall in that category. By the way, the LED FUN doesn't actually do anything useful.

For the scribble strips, I don't think there is a way to dim them on either unit.

Thanks for the reply duncann,

That is amazing that nobody at Line 6 thought that LED backlights should be dimmable (maybe they were too busy making an otherwise awesome Helix), I can't think of another LED screen, with a backlight, that isn't adjustable.

I'm reposting your site to maybe get it to the top of the thread. Super useful site all - around.

It’s been ages since I’ve given an update about https://helixhelp.com so I figured I should give one.

Here are some of the latest updates:

  • This past weekend I fixed an ugly issue related to some 404 errors that were brought to my attention by @HonestOpinion. All of those issues should now be resolved. If you encounter any more, please let me know via the contact form on Helix Help or right here in this thread.
  • I updated the look of the header to have a darker look. I felt it needed to match the Helix a bit better than it did.
  • All of the models are up to date with the latest firmware version of Helix and I’ll continue to update it as Line 6 has new releases.
  • Behind the scenes I’m adding the firmware release version to every model and that information will display in the model lists once they become available.

Other than that, I’ve been making small updates here and there to polish some things and fix minor issues. I have some big plans for more manuals and better model listings.

I really want to thank all of you guys for using Helix Help. It is amazing that a website that I started just so I could more easily remember some model information on the Helix has turned into such a popular destination. As per the usual, if you find anything that needs fixed, updated, or if you just have an idea for a new feature you’d like to see, feel free to contact me anytime. I try my best to reply as quickly as I can.

Thanks again.
