d0stenning Posted February 11, 2016 Share Posted February 11, 2016 When you're recording your first loop do you always have to start playing the first note of the loop ( beat 1 ) the moment you hit the RECORD stomp pedal - or is there a way you can press the stomp and then start playing the idea, say a second or more later ( after "record panic" has gone ) then having pressed the stomp to stop recording - go back and - while the loop is still playing - change the point at which the first loop starts - in other words cutting out the first blank second that was recorded ? Yes you have to hit the Start switch the instant of the first 'beat' and th Stop Recording switch at the same instant after the last 'beat'. Of course, the recorder has no concept of beats. HonestOpinion Posted February 11, 2016 Share Posted February 11, 2016 yet.... time for an "IdeaScale" ;) I am not sure whether editing the loop will ever happen but I have used loopers that essentially have a "ready" state that starts the loop the moment a note is struck. There have also been some ideas floating around for adding the capability to have longer and more loops available through some kind of memory card add on. That was my idea - for some add-on pedal type device that would not only house and support a memory card slot but also some other added value functionality - connected over USB to the Helix. The add-on functionality might for example be just an extra pedal, maybe with a single footstep switch - or a small 4/8 pedal unit with scribble-strips for each - because frankly the more you appreciate the power of those Helix scribble trips - you want MORE pedals-with-scribble-strips ! they're awesome. This extra "pedalboard-thing" would be designed style-wise to look exactly as the HELIX does ( without the colour Display ). This add-on unit could also be more than just the memory card interface but also have on board all the looping functionality itself. That way this device could actually be sold JUST as a new looper - but one with SDHC AND.... with those lovely scribble-strips! AND with the ability of being used as an extension pedalboard for the HELIX - that also makes the looper so much more user friendly. Specially on stage.. And if such an add-on had the ability to looping by itself - that would also release some DSP power back to the HELIX to be used by other effects blocks instead ! Pressing the footswitch in either preset will cause Helix to enter Looper mode. When switching to the next preset, configured as just stated, the Looper will continue to be active (e.g. will continue to play back the loop).
