SlideRIG

Is anyone familiar with Origin Effects SlideRIG? It sounds absolutely wonderful. Here's a link to an example (wait for the slide to kick in):

Considering Helix's capacity, we should be able to replicate something of the sort right? Two 1176's? No problem!

I'll be away from my helix for a few days, but is anyone interested in joining me in creating a slideRIG clone patch?

From their website:

The SlideRIG is a highly specialised guitar compressor. It carefully squeezes and amplifies your guitar signal to create the effect of greatly extended, elongated notes.

The unit contains two chain-connected 1176-stylecompressor-circuits that process your guitar's signal at all times... Duplicate controls allow the user to switch between two different "patches". Each set of controls simultaneously adjusts the parameters of BOTH compressor blocks, so adjustments can be made with ease!

The SlideRIG delivers more "squash", combined with a transparent tone and lower levels of electronic noise!

Hi !

I just had the same idea yesterday, based on a patch I've made for a clean solosound for "how great thou art" (Vince Gill).

In this patch I've actually used 3 compressors for at super smooth sustain without a rubbery attack.

I'm still experimenting, especially with the wet/dry mix, which seems to be important in keeping the natural attack.

I own a SlideRig. Sounds really cool and is lots of fun but it is fairly noisy. To be expected I guess. In the digital modeling world, I wish we could have our cake and eat it too - same sound, less noise.

I actually ended up buying SlideRig Compact Deluxe and it is a joy to use, I have set up more as an all purpose compressor, On 90% of the time. It sounds spectacular, maybe I'll give it a go to try to clone a few of my favorite settings for the community.

...totally Lowell George in a box! Funny, I was just listening to Little Feat during dinner tonight. Lowell used to play his strat live through two Dynacomps in series (Red Squeeze in the Helix), and tweaked settings accordingly on each, usually one with high gain low compression, the other low gain high compression. Before him, Harvey "Snake" Mandel was a master of maxed compressor pedals. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxHCISZZ5-w

Re: Little Feat - True, and to think that most folks think that superb tone was all due to some strange magic from LG using a spark plug socket as a slide.

As for Harvey Mandel, well, that took me right back, I had almost forgotten about him. Got to listen to that stuff again!
