AFD-100
I'm running two 'real' amps on two separate paths on the HD500x - this is exactly what I've been doing. one amp is a laney VC30 - I use the power amp section of this, going into the amp effects return loop input - effects are on the HD then a pre model (input into guitar, output 1/4" left) second amp is a Marshall AFD-100 & 2x 4x12 - using the fx loop on this, just running simple effects - chorus, delay, reverb etc (input into Aux, output 1/" right) Mixer 'panned' hard left & hard right (my guitar input has an A/B switch so I can select either HD input path & the corresponding amp) All functions fine I do however have one problem - hum sounds like an earth loop - but I can only hear it on the Laney ! the Marshall is 100% silent if I disconnect the marshall send & return feeds, the hum disappears totally any suggestions ?! thanks David
Matt_Brown
I guess you tried the ground switch on the top of the 500x?
AFD-100
yup - mad no difference to the 1/4" jacks but, when I wired up an XLR as the output (to try something different - it actually makes it worse lifting the ground ! I've all but given up
Charlie_Watt
Are the amps plugged into the same power strip along with your HD500x? Is it quiet if you use one or the other amp only? If so, you need to either change how they are powered or get an isolation box for one of the amp connections. That should solve your hum problem.
