carterbk
Is there a method to do this? I see some custom tones I really like on the POD HD, but I have a Helix. Is there a way to port the preset to .hlx? Or a way to look inside the POD preset to see what the settings are? Thanks
silverhead
You can't directly transfer HD500X tone files into Helix. You can run the HD500X Edit program without an HD500X device connected to inspect the detailed preset settings and then manually recreate the settings in Helix. However, this will never sound identical to the HD500X preset (and why would you want it to? Helix provides better tones). Consider it a starting point for tweaking. carterbk
Thanks for the reply. I am terrible at making presets so far so I wanted to build off of a few I found for the POD. I am trying to get a Matt Heafy tone (Trivium) from the In Waves album. I have a hard time dialing in the metal presets, my ears get tainted after a while. If any Trivium fans have any suggestions that would be helpful!
spikey
Well we were all new (and terrible) at something once. Keep at it. In about a year you will wonder what the fuss was about. :D

There are also users on this forum who create patches for about 10 bucks but you have to realize, that your setup (guitar, PU, cab, etc.) might let the resulting patch differ from your originally idea of the tone, also if it is dialed in proper. PeterHamm
It will be easier to learn to program Helix than most other (all other?) similar devices. In a few days you won't need the manual at all, and the best way to get your sound is to roll your own.I find that the amps in Helix are VERY different from the amps in HD 500, so porting settings is not useful to me anyway.
