ricoustic101
Greetings, Have just ordered a Variax Standard. I have a set of locking tuning pegs I'd like to install on it when it arrives. They are tuning pegs originally put on my old Fender Stratocaster. My question is this....when I had these installed on my old Variax 600, I had to bring it to a luther because the tuning pegs didn't fit the headstock (the holes where the two little pegs go weren't in the same place and new holes had to be put in.) Does the V-Standard have the same headstock setup as a Strat, or does it also use different pegs as the 600?
psarkissian
No. The set nut for the posts use the same size wrench. I think the screw holes on the back side of the head might not line up. Overall, a different dimension of guitar than a Variax Electric or a JTV. I haven't seen the tuners you want to use so can't be 100% certain. I would want to have the guitar and tuners on my bench to better evaluate.
ricoustic101
Makes me wonder why Line 6 uses these ODD tuning pegs on their guitars.....why not use ones with same dimensions as everyone else??
psarkissian
We do,... availability is good that way. I use a standard set of tools to work on these guitars.

"Everyone else" uses a variety of sizes...there is no standard. It varies from one company to another. Sperzel: 25/64" Planet Waves: 13/32" Most "vintage style" tuners: 11/32"
