scottyo78
"Audicity" is a completely free open source multi-track recording program. Look it up (it's everywhere on the net) and read about it and use it... it should do all you need as you start out. Personally I use "Studio One Pro" which is about $400. silverhead
I would recommend against using ASIO4ALL, the default device interface driver with Audacity. While it works for some, it is not a true ASIO compliant application and has been known to cause issues when used with Line 6 devices. If using Audacity, make sure to change the device driver to the Line 6 ASIO driver. I recommend you also look into Reaper as the recording program. It has a free fully-functional trial period and then is approximately $60 for license.
BigChas52
You might want to take a look at Reaper. It has a fully functional demo period, and is pretty inexpensive if you want to purchase it. http://www.reaper.fm
Bushman2
Another free non-demo program that I like better than Audacity is Krystal Audio Engine.
TheRealZap
the problem with ALL free recording programs is that they are not ASIO compliant... as ASIO is not open source and costs money... not that these won't record... its just not "pro" level. Another free non-demo program that I like better than Audacity is Krystal Audio Engine.
bjnette
Reaper is excellent! well supported, as good as most DAWs and better in some respects for silly money: $50 after a months free trial if you want it for keeps.
