SirChipALot
Can't seem to get the "Auto Return" working. Doesn't seem to be any difference between Auto and Manual. What am I doing wrong? Global Settings > Footswitches > Snapshot Mode Footswitches—A new Global Settings > Footswitches parameter lets you set Snapshot mode footswitches as Auto Return (automatically returns to Preset or Stomp footswitch mode after selection) or Manual Return (stays in Snapshot footswitch mode until you press FS6 [CANCEL])
phil_m
One possibility comes to mind. If you have the Preset Mode Switches set to "8 Snapshots", and you're looking at the snapshots while in Preset Mode, I don't believe the Auto Return setting will make any difference. silverhead
We can't know what you're doing wrong because you haven't told us what you're doing. ;) In terms of behaviour, the difference appears in the display before and after you select a new snapshot using the up/down footswitches to display the snapshots in a preset. As phil_m has just said there is one setting where you won't notice any difference. However, if your normal display shows banks or presets (rather than snapshots) then the Auto setting will temporarily display the snapshots so that you can select one. Then it will immediately return to the banks or presets display. The Manual setting will cause the snapshot display to continue until you manually change it. SirChipALot
My default mode is the 10 Stomp switches mode. What I'd love to do would be to select a snapshot (top row FS 2-5 select Snapshots 1-4) and have it automatically revert back to stomp switch mode without having to hit FS6 again. Does that make sense?

Does that make sense? Well, the issue is that you can't really enter snapshot mode from Stomp mode if you are using the 10 switches in Stomp mode. You can have Preset mode display something other than 8 presets, and you can use the Mode switch to alternate between Stomp and Preset modes, but Stomp mode is always dedicated to actual footswitch and controller assignments right now. silverhead
I'm not sure - phil_m probably knows better than me on this - but I wonder if you can enter snapshots mode using FS1 and FS7. I'm not at my Helix now to test, but..... Try this: - set your Snapshot Mode Switches global setting to Auto - while in your 10 stomps display, press FS 1 and FS7 simultaneously with your foot. One of two things will happen - either both FS will toggle their associated FX blocks on/off, or it might cause the 8 snapshots to be displayed, and flashing indicating that you need to select one - select the desired snapshot. The display should revert to 10 Stomps. EDIT: OK, the manual seems pretty clear that this won't work. phil_m is correct. Stomp Mode SwitchesWhen set to "10 switches," FS1 (BANK ^) and FS7 (BANK ) are re-purposed as additional Stomp switches. This is only for Stomp footswitch mode; while in Preset, Snapshot, or Looper footswitch modes, BANK ^and BANK are retained.
SirChipALot
Thanks a bunch silverhead! So that's what the Auto Return does. Unfortunately that doesn't allow me to do what I hoped it would do. Having to press FS1 and FS7 simultaneously (nearly impossible while barefoot!) just to select a snapshot is a lot of foot hokey pokey. Interesting that FS6 only becomes a "CANCEL" button when you press FS1 and FS7 together. For now I'll just alternate between Snap/Stomp Preset Mode and 10 Switches Stomp Mode. Really would've liked to skip that one extra step between modes.

Interesting that FS6 only becomes a "CANCEL" button when you press FS1 and FS7 together. I don't like having to press to footswitches at once, either. What I do is keep Preset Mode set to 8 Snapshots, and just use the Mode switch to alternate between Preset Mode (which is really more like Snapshot Mode now) and Stomp Mode. You can still use the 10 Stomps setting in this case if you want, and to switch presets, you just hit one of the bank footswitches while in Preset Mode. SirChipALot
That's what I'm doing now too, although the updated manual says "automatically returns to...Stomp footswitch mode after selection". Just looking for the absolute quickest and most efficient way to go between snapshots in a song. Thanks silverhead and phil_m for the help! Embo20910
I've been trying to do the same thing, as I also have a hard time consistently hitting FS1 and FS7 at the same time, especially when not wearing shoes. It looks like setting Preset Mode to "8 Snapshots" isn't exactly the same as entering snapshot mode with FS1+FS7. The Auto Return doesn't work in 8 Snapshots. I'd ideally like to be able to be mostly in Stomp mode with 8-10 stomps, hit the "Mode" switch to see 8 snapshots, and once I select a snapshot automatically return to stomp mode. Instead, it requires an extra click of the Mode button to get back to stomp mode. It would be great if either: a) Auto Return worked from what I'll call "8 Snapshot Preset Mode", or b) there was an easier way to get into Snapshot Mode. Even a press-hold of a single switch would be easier.
jkuche
Frustrating to only be able to read the title of Snapshots 1-4 in Snap/Stomp setting ! Would be great if Snapshot names would auto scroll to 5-8. thoughts? j
