Toneport Ux2, Midi & Cubase 7

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am using the above setup to drive some East West VSTs. This works fine for the most part.

I have one very annoying issue. When the first note is played there is a slight glitch noise/delay while the midi appears to "kick in". Every note after this is fine with no latency until there is a break in playing. Then the same situation repeats for the next "first note".  The issue isnt limited to Cubase 7 and occured in Cubase 5 too.

In what maybe a connected issue the metronome (using audio beeps) only sounds while I am playing guitar over direct monitoring. If I stop playing the metronome cuts out.

Would appreciate any help here!

I've has a similar thing happen with logic... in the end i found my timing was slightly off...

i went to the midi edit view and sure enough the initial note was just outside of the loop area...

dragged it inside the loop area and everything was fine...anyway... just something to look at.

it seems i anticipated the note just the tiniest fraction during count in.

Thanks for the response Zap. This isnt just a recording problem. Even live playback, the first note "glitches" and plays slightly late. Subsequent notes are ok until there is a break in playing. Then the first note of the next section only glitches again, subsequent notes are again fine.

Its driving me mad!

The feedback from the Steinberg forums is that there maybe some gate function on the toneport? Do line 6 have gate functions for balancing the input and DAW? Could I have something misconfigured?  I see a gate button on the plugin but on or off produces the same behviour.
