theKennyG 15 Posted September 20, 2016 Curious about this myself. I'm really hoping it works. I've love to get my OS current again.
TheDaveDaveDave 42 Posted September 21, 2016 Caveat: no life guards - swim at you're own risk! That said, this weekend I ran the Helix Editor on Sierra with no issues, and the Helix audio driver didn't present any issues with iTunes or with Logic. I was scare-full carefull to a) make sure my time machine backups were up to date and b) install everything on yet another external TB drive. Anyhoo, I didn't encounter any problems with Helix, nor with My Avid Artist controllers or the RME UFX. MUCH better than back in the El Capitan days Hope this helps! Be careful!

zooey 265 Posted September 21, 2016 Not on a Mac, but FYI, I've received several emails from VST devs saying that their stuff isn't yet compatible and they're working on it.
MelThorpe 11 Posted September 21, 2016 I was using Helix Editor on Sierra last night for a few hours and didnt run into any issues. Also as an interface into Logic X without any issues.
TexLefty65 17 Posted September 22, 2016 I've been using the Sierra Beta for a few weeks now (on a separate, bootable external hard disc) and I have not run into any problems at all with the Helix edit app. Logic Pro X is still fine with Helix for me too. regalpierot 33 Posted September 22, 2016 I've always got a minimum month buffer before I update OSX or IOS, rarely does the new feature set warrant the risk of the actual applications I use no longer working. Having said that, I'm really eager to see if anyone suffers that Helix Freeze when connected to Mac Editor. If that ended up being resolved inadvertently, well that would be amazing. Digital_Igloo 1,107 Posted September 22, 2016 Sierra's been behaving very well here in the office.
spikey 682 Posted September 22, 2016 Soon as they fix the AU plugins with Sierra I'll upgrade. Thanks DI for that tidbit.
surfsup1955 33 Posted September 23, 2016 Been playing, tweeking and recording (Logic Pro) all afternoon, no issues to report.
Ace66 0 Posted September 23, 2016 Uhm, seems like my UX1 studio sound card is struggling to be recognized by Mac.. Also all my usb accessories are acting "weird" since the update.. Still Logic runs with no issues.
soundog 491 Posted September 24, 2016 Helix editor working fine here, as is using Helix with Logic Pro X, Studio One 3. Also, I've had no problems with any of my AU or VST plugs. Backup with Time Machine before installing Sierra if you are scared of the dark. :o
dannepop 7 Posted September 26, 2016 I did a reinstall of the Helix app and then it works just fine! Had problems with Helix freeze before I did the reinstall! D
ramirezdan 9 Posted September 27, 2016 Never... ever... ever... Upgrade to a new OS right away. Never. El Capitan was a disaster for audio hardware/software. I'm still on Yosemite because of it. Unless you're dying for Siri on your desktop or iCloud integration, there's no reason to be a guinea pig here.

Heck, I'm still on MAVERICKS on this computer right now, and I will perhaps be buying my next mac very soon and will actually opt for the 2012 13" MBP you can still get new so I can continue to run Mavericks. spikey 682 Posted September 28, 2016 El Capitan had a ruff start yes, but things were fixed and I have no issues with it now using Logic X, Cubase 8.5, or PT 12.x when I was running it. So I figure Sierra will be the same way within a few weeks/months.
