HD Edit Software, not showing numbers on certain controls

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Whenever I adjust certain settings on the pod, the little bar thing adjusts up and down but I don't get numbers to show the amounts. Things like Gain/Distorion on the pedals work, but the Low Cut on the amp settings does not show me the frequency and there are various other controls that don't show a number when adjusting the control, it just shows the bar going up and down. It used to show it ages ago, but for a long time now it's not visible. Is there a fix? Anyone else experienced this?

Well that sucks. I Imagine it's a really simple fix as well at their end. The HD is from the generation of Line 6 products that were sub-par so I'm not surprised.

Generation of Sub-par? Bwahahaha!!!

As compared to what in the same price range?

Just how long did it take for the expansion packs to finally become available? The fact that it was given a limited amount of memory that is insufficient for you to use all of the FX slots is annoying because you have to make sacrifices for what you're trying to achieve because you get DSP overflow.

I've had it for a long time now so a lot of the things that I was miffed about have kind of been forgotten, and I do still use it, and it doesn't sound bad. But there are just things about it that I feel shouldn't be issues but are...the bug i've posted about as an example, that bug has been there for like 2 years, and it's never been fixed...why not? why not put in enough memory to run the effects chain you want to run?

TBH I would rather have the EQ in % fixed, but for the age of the tech the HD is relevant at its price point. I concede that the Editor could use additional work, like being able to resize it.

The amount of memory was probably a result of the price of parts at the time to keep a target MSRP and the expansion packs were gravy (not needed but welcomed). $$$ and labor were most likely funneled at the Helix (which is where they should have been being the new flagship).

Its all good in the end to me but I bristled at the "sub-par generation" label.

Sub Par ?  Then buy a Helix, Kemper, or AXEFX.  Oh that's right they cost a lollipop ton more.

Does that excuse Line6 for not fixing some trivial things ?  Yeah it does...  I'm friggin' happy that I can have something that sounds as good and works as well as the PODHD in it's $500 USD price range.  Show me ANYTHING else in that price range that is better.  I've put up with a lot more stupid lollipop with other products over the 40+ years I've been playing and they didn't sound as good.

Is the PODHD perfect ?  No.  But it's more than good enough.

Sub priced too!  If you were an engineer I'd kick your butt for looking at the parameter rather than closing your eyes and listening.

LISTEN!

Apply this to mixing in your DAW.

I have noticed this bug too but it is easy as to edit on the device itself.

We know the Line6 engineers didn't look at the parameters when they did Percentage for adjusting EQ.  That's like adjusting the tire pressure on your car with a timing light.

Sorry but I always have to get a dig in about this.  It's too easy...

Don't apologize. Some things are deserving of ridicule. I'm still baffled by it, years later.

"Gimme a 3dB cut at 27%, Bob!"...no one has ever yelled that to their sound guy. ;)
