What's your favourite Helix delay??

Recommended Posts

I had a serious romance with the Vintage Digital Delay for about two months. It really is excellent. However, I have found myself moving back to the Tranistor Tape model. There's just something about the "chime" of a good tape emulation that sits well with my ear.

It's Adriatic Delay for me. VDD is my second.

Same here.

Adriatic Delay is just awesome.

PS

I'm playing modern metal. :)

Depends on what I'm doing or if I need something specialized, but I like the sweep echo the best. For general purpose, most anything will do, but I might tend more toward the vintage digital.

I almost always have two available. They are almost always the Vintage Digital and the Adriatic.

I generally use two: The simple delay at the beginning, and then another that has some extra "flavor" immediately after in the signal chain. The simple delay does not color the tone and I usually have it set for tap tempo. The "flavor" delay after that is set to a time somewhere between 400-800ms depending on what sound I am looking for at the time. I can kick up the mix ratio and feedback on the flavor delay for ambient stuff. It gives you a lot more flexibility when using snapshots.

I think I better give this Adriatic thingy another blast.

I set up the Tape Delay for 350ms and about 24% mix with 3 repeats for general "this could use some thickening" Delay needs

I use the Elephant Man for 8th notes hooked up to tap tempo and a bit of modulation for things that have a "the delay is part of the riff" delay bit

Mostly, I use the Transistor Tape Delay. I also like the analog and the Adriatic delay. But I like the delays to be relatively subtle, so I set the mix to 15 - 25% after the cab block.
