shanecgriffo
i'd like to monitor some backing tracks thru the helix and flick thru a few presets as i do to check out how they sound. I cant seem to do it tho. I only get aux running thru the amp and fx which i certainly dont want or i have to load a 'return' for each preset i load which defeats the purpose of scrolling thru them.. is there any way around this. Other Units i've used in the past had an aux that was independent of the signal chain
malhavok
You'll have to use USB for this.
rd2rk
You'll need to run the backing tracks from your computer, connected to the Helix via USB, and set the the Helix as the computer's default sound card.
shanecgriffo
oh! not what i was hoping to do, as i so rarely use my computer nowadays. ok, thanks for the advice
nippyjun
You can use the returns for backing tracks. What is your audio source for The backing tracks. You can for example connect MP3 player, smart phone, other audio device using 8th inch to quarter inch adapters and connect that through the returns
zooey
Yes but you have to hook those returns into every preset. That's the OP's original question I think, how not to have to do that.
shanecgriffo
yeah it is from my phone, was streaming some backing tracks from online.. and yes was trying not to load a return for every preset (just bought the fremen pack.. there's a lot of presets haha) thanks anyway
shanecgriffo
may just end up running it thru my stereo system to play along might be easiest..
rd2rk
Thru the stereo is easiest, unless you want to use headphones. Tho, in that case, you could run the backing tracks AND the Helix thru the stereo...I use a small mixer, run the music I'm jamming to and the Helix into it, then to headphones OR monitors as circumstances require. jbuhajla
I use my iPhone connected to USB to the Helix for this. You just need an adapter to do so. You don't need the expensive $40 adapter. https://www.amazon.com/HIOTECH-236651-Adapter-Premium-Lightning/dp/B00S9I7EPO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1483357881&sr=8-3&keywords=iPhone+camera+adapter

jbuhajla
Great! To adjust volume you will need to go to Global Settings>Inputs/Outputs> USB 1/2.
