Stand alone would be awesome for home creation of patches to bring to researsel for the hardware. Also... will the software tell you when the hardware version would be out of processing power? There are VST host apps that can host VST plugins just for performance. for example: https://www.cantabilesoftware.com/ I am not sure about Logic or other plugins.
