Input Pad

How do I replicate guitar pad in the effects chain?

I have a les paul and strat. I find my les paul sound better with guitar pad on but sounds worse/thin with my strat.

I read somewhere is the equivalent to -6db in the gain block. Is that true? No other eq adjustment.

Wish there are meters inside Helix.

It should be around -6dB when turned on. You could leave the PAD turned on all the time, and when you want to use your strat, perhaps with the same preset as you use with your Les Paul?, turn a gain block on that's placed at the very beginning on the chain, with 6dB of gain.

I suppose it might be convenient for Line 6 to move this global to the input block of a preset, kind of like they did with input impedance.

That seems like a no-brainer to me too, but I think we're in the minority. There are a couple of Ideascale entries on it and they haven't really gained traction.

I think you're right. Most people probably just leave it turned off. I eventually found I needed to turn it on with evolution pickups.

If you have room in the Signal Path, the most agile method would be inserting a Gain Block assigned to a fsw. Either, enabled or bypassed (for an approx 6db) Boost or Attenuation to counteract the Guitar In Pad setting.
