chrisg942
Hi. I'm brand new with this product. I'm confused about how and if I have to update my new Pod HD500x. If I do need to update can someone explain to me the process please. I keep seeing seeing something called Line 6 Monkey? And the Line 6 Updater. I'm not sure what these are and which one I need to use if any.
silverhead
Check the product FAQs. See Support tab above, then choose Technical Support. Then select the Pod HD product family.
chrisg942
Check the product FAQs. See Support tab above, then choose Technical Support. Then select the Pod HD product family. I've done that and still I don't see anything that addresses my question there.
pianoguyy
The key word is "need". Do you need to update? NO. Never. I've met guys that had the unit for 3-5 years and didn't even know the thing could be hooked up until I told them. That means no updates. No EDIT. No patch backup. And they're doing just fine. Here's the deal - If you choose to update, you need Monkey. Usually, once you have it, how it works is self explanatory. But you seem to be having issues. Next question? chrisg942
Thanks. I'll look at these videos. My biggest question was whethe Line 6 uses the monkey still at all. It seems newer devices use something called the update editor and I didn't know if that applied across the board to all the previous products too. Apparently older products including Pod HD still uses the Line 6 Monkey for updates.
pfsmith0
Yes, the PodHD uses Line Monkey. Yes, you will want all updates since they fix some irritating bugs.
pianoguyy
they fix some irritating bugs. In fairness, he is talking about the 500X. It doesn't ship with 1.0 like the 500 did.
