megadupe
Does anyone know if the Mac USB Driver for Helix is necessary? My Mac sees the USB Helix in/outs. Is there a reason to use the driver? Thanks, Jeff
DunedinDragon
That really depends on the version of the Helix driver you have on the Mac. The safest thing to do is to install the driver to be sure you have the latest version.
phil_m
The Helix is a class compliant USB interface for Macs, so you shouldn't need the drivers. Line 6 released drivers back when people were still having issues with USB audio and El Capitan. Those issues seem to have gotten sorted for the most part, so you probably don't need to download the drivers. This is why the Mac drivers are still officially a beta release. Tomasz4791
You don't have to install them. I've been using Helix without them for good few months on El Capitan, but you'll have no access to 96kHz sampling rate and no volume control from the computer (and that was the big one for me as I didn't need the 96kHz...). Personally I've found it worthy install. And also... it's no longer beta ;-)
amsdenj
Indeed, even the significant problems I've been having for years with Apogee GiO have gone away in the latest Mac OS X release, and the Apogee drivers are from 2011.

jbuhajla
I've used a Mac for months with no issues without the driver.
