DI via SPDIF

Guys, I want to record both DI and processed digitally. But since I can't use my Helix USB driver and my audio interface ASIO driver simultaneously, I go with SPDIf route, Path 1 full with blockss and goes to Left SPDIF, while Path 2 with nothing in it goes to Right SPDIF.

Am I doing it right? Will the DI track I get from Right SPDIF good enough for reamping?

I would not do it that way, honestly. You're sending two very different signals down a stereo line, and it's not ideal.

I'd use a 1/4" send for the DI track. You won't lose anything significant, sound-wise, it'll be fine.

Why would you need your interface do that? The Helix USB Driver will allow you record up to 8 input channel simulateously, with 7/8 ALWAYS being a dry, DI signal. So you can set up four mono tracks in your DAW and set the first two to Input 1 & 2, then set the next two to 7 & 8. Record all four at the same time and you have two DI tracks and a stereo "wet" track of each take.

7&8, btw, are NOT assignable I don't think. 7 is always the dry track from the guitar input, and 8 from the Mic input. Not sure how LT handles this.

because I record live, and need my audio interface to records the rest of the band, especially drums

I've not tried this, but can the SPDIF output be set so that it outputs at the beginning of the chain instead of the end?

Split a path and make the output of one path have nothing but an output to SPDIF, but no, you can't output at the beginning of a path unless you use a stereo or mono FX send.
