Variax 89/89f Factory Specs

Recommended Posts

That would be good to know. When I received my JTV-89F I checked the factory settings, I'm not a pro luthier or anything compared but I know some things. The neck was perfectly straight, The action was really really low, on the low E string the action at the 12th fret was 3.5/64 and 4/64 at the 17th fret in the high E string it was 2.5/64 at the 12th fret and 3/64 at the 17thy fret. Amazinly there was only minor buzz in some frets but later I discover that depsite this, a higher action is better for the modeled guitars, as you may know the piezo totally captures the vibration produced even by the minimal fret buzz whilst mag pick ups can hide this alot more. I ended up raising the action1/64 in both sides.

The pick us were at 4/64 on the bridge and 5/64 on the neck, agian I made some adjustments, the reason is that the sustain in this model is not as good as other guitars, i.e. my Les Paul's sustain is almost twice the sustain in the JTV so I lowered the P/U's to try to improve the sustain.

Nevertheless I'm happy with this guitar and one thing that might help is to look for factory specs of similar guitar like some Ibanez models like the RG or S series.
