Need A Surf Sounding Tone!

This is just off the top of my head but grab the twin deluxe or bassman fender and then slather on the reverb.  I can't remember the name of the reverb but it's a sim of the fender amp reverb.  I seem to remember the name was pretty obvious.  Also stay on your stratocaster bridge pickup.  Once you think you're close with one of the amps it often helps to experiment with different mics and different cabs.

A clean twin deluxe is a good starter's choice and there is no such thing as too much reverb. Use the '63 spring reverb. Then add a slapback delay to it: That means the tube echo with a short delay time (60-120ms) and very little feedback.
