Tube Echo Model - Magic Drive Knob

Hi guys-

 

for years I really dig the L6 Tube Echo model's "Drive" parameter to enhance and clean up my overall sound with certain guitars.

Who can tell me what this Drive knob exactly does? 

 

Any ideas are highly appreciated!

The Tube Echo is modeled after the Echoplex EP-1 which has a tube preamp that could sometimes give it a little more bite or very slight overdrive. The Drive knob helps dial in that tube preamp sound. To my ear it adds slightly more bite to the sound and colors the sound differently then Drive a 0%.
