robywonkenobi
I've had my JTV-89F for a while now, and I've never gotten good sound from the instrument when using the modelling. I've updated firmware, but it didn't help. Some of the models seem so weak you can barely hear them. Everything sounds fine with it turned off. Sounds good with just the pickup. Even when I switch to the "Hi gain" models there is a great reduction in signal. And the sound is pretty "tinny." I just wonder if anyone else feels this way about the sound they have gotten, or if maybe something is wrong with mine. I don't use it unless I need the sound that it makes without the modeling. Everyone else seems pretty happy with theirs, but I have to say that though I was impressed by the tuning capability of the instrument, I can hardly use most of the models. Does anyone else have a severe gain loss or really weak sound issue? Or maybe it is just me...
Charlie_Watt
Something is very wrong. The models should be quite loud and full. Have you tried Workbench? You can make significant adjustments with that.
tscoolberth
Yeah, my JTV89 ... no complaints really.
clay-man
Have you listened to videos of the Variax and liked it? How different does yours sound? Yours might have a problem if it's that bad. though there are some people that just don't like how the modeling sounds. I don't think you're one of those people. Even if you were, You'd maybe at least think that it's decent if you don't think it's spot on. Try boosting the levels in workbench. Maybe your global string volume is very low.
