I miss the M9s Global Noise Gate in HX Effects

I have grown used to its elegant functioning in the background.

Any chance the HX Effects will be getting a similar function with an upcoming firmware update?

The HX Effects noise gate (per stomp box slot) is just that tiny bit less working out for me...

How do you guys work around that - or is it just me?

Cheers,

Michael

I think it's just you!

Do you use the noise gate on the input, or do you actually add one as an effect?

The one in the input save a space on your path and seems to work fine for me.

Yes - it's per patch, but there are plenty of reasons why everyone doesn't want it on for everything.

Especially if you need to ride your volume knob.

So it's not a one size fits all thing.

Well, the input gate on the M9 isn’t global - it can be turned on and off per scene. But, you’re correct in that there’s no input gate in the input block on the HX Effects. There’s really not even a selectable input block on the HX Effects. It’s always just there.

That's the only way on an HX Effects... as far as I know.

Downside... you use up a block for the noise gate or suppressor. Upside... Like everything else on the HX, it can be placed anywhere & controlled by expressions, snapshots, footswitches, etc... If you don't want it visible you don't have to assign it to a footswitch - it can stay completely behind the scenes.

You are both missing my point. It is the WAY it WORKS that is different, and maybe it is the WAY in which I work, that might be different too.

I have been using noise gates since I don't know when in all my evolving pedalboard setups. The Global Noise Gate of the M9 worked very well for me as a Global Noise Gate for my whole pedal board - and the stomp slot Noise Gate of the HX Effects does it much less efficiently.

I don't care if it uses a slot or if it is visible or not - but it ACTS differently and the way it acts unfortunately does not work for me.

So is there anybody out there, who has been using the M9s Global Noise Gate and is now using the HX Effects and found a SETTING or workaround to emulate the behavior of the M9s Noise Gate?

Cheers mates,

Michael

  • 3 months later...

Im also digging how the global noise gate of the M series behave, it just do the job. I have owned M13 for several years now and decided to upgrade to HXE. Any success on copying the action of the global noise gate applied to HXE?

Cheers!
