Hi,

Could you be a little more precise?

What do you mean by "A button duplicates save button."?

What switch did you replace, the TAP or the SAVE button? Have you checked if the replacement switch has the same height as the original switch? (On my POD HD 500 i had to remove the plastic thing between the switch and the spring, or the switch would always "closed" after assembly because the switch i used was 5mm high. I think the original is 4.3mm.)

Footswitches were replaced on the following buttons: A, B, C, MODE. Since then, things started behaving weird:
- button "A" is basically duplicating the "Save" button
- the "TAP" button is very flaky and, when works, duplicates the "D" button
- the "D" button now shares its role with the "TAP" button i.e. one can turn on the tuner with it

All the other buttons behave the same as before.

Also, the LEDs above "A" and "TAP" are always lit on with green, and the LED above "D" button is always pulsating red. The digital display only displays last two digits.

It looks like the buttons are supplied with wrong voltage and as a result, POD gets confused. I've measured the voltage (the multimeter was set to 20V DC):

I've also got advise from an electronics repair guy, he said that we can't do much without the schematics (which is, of course, nowhere to be found).

P.S. i live far away from service centers so just sending the POD to repairs isn't an option.

It sounds like you might have some parts of the circuit shorted or the wrong replacement parts installed. There are several different type of tacticle switches but they mainly break down to momentary or latch type; one just bridges two points in a circuit when you press it while the other "latches" and doesn't change state until you press it again (learned this the hard way working on ibanez pedals). If you have the correct parts (always use manufacturer parts when possible; it will save you a lot of headaches). The other possible problem is that you could have accidentally shorted the circuit with some random solder when you were makingthe repair. I use a jewelers lighted magnifying glass when making repairs to avoid this scenario because its easy to do. My guess would be the incorrect switch though. If it was the Radio Shack part listed on here the other day it might be the wrong switch type.

UP!

Hi, did you solve your problem?

I'm exactly in the same situation, without replacing tactile button.

My Pod worked correctly for a year, the suddenly the tap switch stopped working, the A button now work like "save", etc.

I've tried factory reset, but holding A button during power on in this situation doesn't work.

I'v tried also reinstalling firmware, but nothing changed.

Can someone help me?

thanks
