LCD dimming strips?

I want to dim the 12 footswitch screens on my Helix Control to look more like the preset LCD. I've already googled this and I live in the UK. Has anyone got any better suggestions (besides wearing sunglasses, I have severe nerve damage). I would prefer something that does not damage the Helix Control. Something like the strips it arrives with from the factory, only darker.

You can get lighting gels for like $7 a sheet and cut your own strips to lay across the scribble strips. You could just tape them down. The Rosco Light Grey would cut the intensity by 50%: https://www.amazon.com/Rosco-Roscolux-Effects-Lighting-Filter/dp/B0002Z80CI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1541531765&sr=8-1&keywords=rosco+light+grey

Thanks, but its not in the UK. I searched for these on Amazon UK, but it costs £68.48?!

There are a bunch of companies that make gels... Rosco is just kind of the go-to for lighting people. Here's a cheap version: https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/0-6-Nd-Neutral-Density-Lighting-Filter-GEL-Theatre-DJ-Disco-24cm-X-24cm-Par-64/1288306021?iid=160730139041

Mine arrived this morning (in a hardbacked envelope whih says "Do not bend", and the postie STILL bent it to fit through my letterbox!!), but I was expecting it to be sticky on one side, so I wouldn't need to use any cellotape. I was also hoping it would be 2x/3x as dark, just like the preset name display on Helix Control already is.
