jay4nexus
Hello I bought a Variax Standard guitar a few months ago and I've been offered a Hercules Stand GS415. The box tells it is not suitable for long-term use with guitars with nitrocellulose lacquer. I could not find whether the lacquer used on Variax Standard guitars is nitrocellulose lacquer. Can anyone let me know? Thank you very much. Jerome
phil_m
It’s not nitro... it’s a polyurethane gloss finish. The vast majority of guitars made nowadays have a poly finish, as nitro is toxic and spraying it is a bit more problematic now. Nitro is also much less durable than poly. psarkissian
And nobody likes Nitro, because it's so hard to strip for re-paint and do cosmetic repairs and touch-ups.
