djcanilla Posted February 22, 2019 Share Posted February 22, 2019 Hi all. I want to use amp modelling in the 4cm on my Firehawk Fx without having to disable the fx loop. My chain is: Stomp>fx loop>amp (off)>mods and delays I'd like to add a modelled amp in place of my actual amp whilst using 4cm. I've seen threads where people suggest turning off the fx loop. However I find that mods, delays, etc sound much better in the fx loop and don't really want to turn the loop off. Is there a way to change this, such as turning the fx loop mix to 0? Kilrahi Posted February 22, 2019 Share Posted February 22, 2019 The only way to do a four cable method with the Firehawk FX is to keep the FX loop engaged. You definitely wouldn't want to turn that off. So if I understand you correctly, you are wanting to use modeled amps - but are you still wanting to output the sound through your traditional amp? What kind of amp is it? Most of the time, unless you're using a nontraditional amp that has a flat response style option, the problem you'll run into is that's essentially like stacking amps which gets awful real fast. You could try disabling the cab block on the Firehawk FX and then just use the amp portion but I don't think that's going to help much. The way to do use modelled amps with the 4cm is to turn the fx loop mix down to 0%. Tried it out and it works a charm. Thanks anyway. But . . . if you turn the mix down to 0% you're effectively just sending dry signal only. That wouldn't keep you from stacking amps though.
